Abstract

Research on the synthesis of sulfonated mesoporous Silica from bamboo leaves ash (Dendrocalamus asper) as Heterogeneous Acid Catalyst has been conducted. Bamboo Leaf Ashfish serves as a source of silica for the manufacture of Mesoporous Silica. The research phase consisted of synthesis of MSU-H with surfactant template method, mesoporous silica modification with 3-mercaptopropyl-trimethoxysilane (MPTMS) using post grafting method. The mesoporous silica has a pore volume of 1.03 cm3/g, a surface area of 150 m2/g and a pore diameter of 27.5 nm. The FT-IR spectrum of mesoporous silica before sulfonation shows the presence of Si-O-Si, and Si-OH functional groups while that of Mesoporous silica after sulfonation shows the presence of Si-O-Si, Si-O, Si-OH and –SO3H functional groups.

Abstract

The researched about the correlation level of metal lead (Pb) towards the protein content of mussel shells (Mactra violacea) had been done. This research was taken in the coastal water of Tarakan, North Borneo. The research aimed to know concentration of ion (Pb) and protein content of mussel shells (Mactra violacea) based on the size and location of the different sampling. Afterwards, the lead (Pb) metal and protein were correlated using Least Square method. Analysis of concentration of Pb ion was performed by using AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrofotometry) and analysis of protein content using Kjehdal method. From this research, it was found the concentration of Pb ion on point 1 is by an average of 0.7220 mg/L, on point 2 is by an average of 0.7433 mg/L and point 3 is by an average of 0.9208 mg/L. It is also found the content protein of mussel shells (Mactra violacea) on point 1 is by an average of 19,9883%, on point 2 it was found the average of protein content of 21.7714% and point 3 by an average 22.8664%. The correlation concentration of Ion Pb towards protein conten on kerang kepah (Mactra violacea) symbolized as r = 0.8448.

Abstract

This research about the manufacture of biodegradable film from cempedak (Artocapus champeden sp.) seed starch and CMC (Carboxy Methyl Cellulose) as well as with the addition of glycerol as a plasticizer has been studied. The purpose of this research are to knowing the concentration of glycerol which have the best of tensile strength, percent elongation, water uptake and biodegradability and knowing the characteristic of biodegradable film produced. In this research the ratio of starch: CMC used is 7:3 while the concentration glycerol is added 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% from the weight of starch. The result of the best concentration of glycerol is glycerol 10%. Glycerol 10% produce a film with 19.62 N/mm2 of tensile strength, 4.98% of percent elongation, 54.33% of water uptake and 39.96% of degradation in 2 days with degradability 24.9 mg/day. Biodegradable film characterized by using FT-IR, analysis result of functional groups showing there are alcohol (O-H) and eter (C-O) groups which indicates that the film is biodegradable.

Abstract

A study on the synthesis of sulphonated mesoporous silica from rice husk ash (Oryza sativa L.) been conducted. The preparation of sulphonated MSU-H was conducted by several steps namely, extraction of silica from rice husk ash, synthesis of mesoporous silica, synthesis of sulphonated mesoporous silica with post-grafting method. The N2 adsorption-desorption characterization results show the surface area of mesoporous silica 134 m2/g, pore volume 0.81 cm3/g and pore size 24.13 nm. The FT-IR characterization results of sulphonated mesoporous silica indicate the presence of Si-O-Si, Si-O, O-H and C-H alkane clusters.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the content of secondary metabolites and the toxicity of extracts of Merung various parts (Coptosapelta tomentosa (Blume). The research methods included maceration, phytochemical tests and toxicity tests using the BSLT method. Based on the results of the phytochemical test showed all extracts of Merung parts contained steroids, flavonoids, and phenolics. Saponin is only found in leaf extract. Toxicity tests using the BSLT method showed that stem and root extracts were toxic with LC50 values of 2004.06 and 173.09 ppm, respectively.

Abstract

A study on the activation of natural zeolite using NaOH and it’s application for adsorption Rhodamin B from waste liquid woven Samarinda has been conducted. The activation process was conducted by several steps namely, sample preparation and activation stage using NaOH with ultrasonic assisted, then characterized using X-Ray Flourescence (XRF), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD). The XRF analysis result showed that indicates a decrease of SiO2 54.359% in natural zeolite after activation with 6 M NaOH. The XRD analysis result showed the type of natural zeolite activated NaOH was mordenit with chemical compound Ca2.5Na2Al7.Si41O96.24H2O. The optimum condition on the adsorpsi of Rhodamin B from waste liquid woven Samarinda using activated zeolite at 6 M NaOH 60 minutes and with persen adsorpsi was 87.487 % and on the adsorbent weight of 1.25 gram with persen adsorption 82.311 %.

Abstract

Research about the isolation of chemical active compounds antioxidants from ethyl acetate fraction of betel leaf forest (Piper aduncum L.) have been done. This research aimed to determine the type of secondary metabolites that contained in ethyl acetate fraction and the value of antioxidant activity as well as the structure that contained in ethyl acetate fraction. The test results of phytochemical showed that the secondary metabolites in ethanol extract are alkaloids, steroids and triterpenoids. The inhibitory concentration 50% (IC50) value that shown in the fraction Piper aduncum ethyl acetate-4-3 (PAEA-4-3) is 132.84 ppm. Fraction of PAEA-4-3 that have high levels of antioxidant activity was analyzed using a spectrophotometer Ultra Violet-Visible (UV-Vis), Infrared Fourier-Transform (FTIR) and Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) proton and carbon. The result analysis of PAEA-4-3 isolates showed the compound as 2,3-dimethoxy-metilanaoksi-benzene.

Abstract

Phytochemical screening on ethanol extract from leaves of kluwih (Artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg) has been carried out and that results showed the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, phenolic, triterpenoids and steroids. The ethanol extract from leaves of kluwih (Artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg) was tested for its antihyperuricemic experimentally in the laboratory with doses of 28 mg/kg, 56 mg/kg and 112 mg/kg which were done orally in male mice (Mus musculus) for the purpose of antihyperuricemic assess the effect of the decrease uric acid in male mice. Uric acid measurements carried out on days 0, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27 by using uric acid strip and uric acid meter. Treatments with dosage variation kluwih leaves extract (Artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg) shows that a dose of 112 mg/kg give blood uric acid levels decrease by 64.23%. The results of this study showed a decrease in uric acid levels as a result of ethanol extract from leaves of kluwih (Artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg).
