Abstract

Pacing plants (Costus sp.) Potentially as medicinal plants, but there is no research on the endophytic bacteria they contain. This research was conducted to filter endophytic bacteria from Pacing stems (Costus sp.) And to find out the secondary metabolites contained by each endophytic bacteria. Endophytic bacteria obtained from Pacing Stems (Costus sp.) Totaled 17 colonies. Crude extracts from all bacterial colonies containing alkaloids, 15 crude extracts containing saponins. Steroids are only contained by 3 types of bacterial extracts and triterpenoids are only contained by 2 types of bacterial extract.

Abstract

This research was conducted to determine the content of secondary metabolite contained in the extract and ethanol fraction of “Jarum tujuh bilah” leaves (Pereskia bleo (Kunth) DC) and and inhibition of xanthine oxidase activity obtained from the isolation of cow's milk. The xanthine oxidase activity is measured at a wavelength of 290 nm. The results of this research indicate that in the ethanol extract and fraction of “jarum tujuh bilah” leaves have the secondary flavonoids, alkaloids and phenolic compounds. The highest inhibition of xanthine oxidase activity in the ethanol extract of “jarum tujuh bilah” leaves was 91.67%, while the inhibition of allopurinol was 50% and the ethanol fraction of “jarum tujuh bilah” leaves was seven blades by 90%.

Abstract

A study on the adsorption of Cd2+ ion using silica gel modified with 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (MBT) from rice husk ash has been conducted. The modification of silica gel with MBT was conducted by several steps namely, sample preparation, synthesis of sodium silicate and modification of silica using MBT through a sol gel method. The XRF result showed that silica gel contained 98.98 % SiO2 . The FTIR spectrum of silika MBT showed the persence of Si-OH, Si-O, Si-O-Si and –SH groups. The surface area of silica gel and silica MBT were 163 m2/g and 30 m2/g, respectively. The adsorption capacity of Cd2+ ion was 0.42 mg/g and the adsorption percentage was 69.40%. The presence of Cr6+ ion decreased the adsorption capacity of silica MBT over Cd2+ ion.

Abstract

Ethanol from sago flour through fermentation using Saccharomyces cerevisiae and gelatin as nutrition for microbe have been done. The making of ethanol through processes of hydrolysis, fermentation, distillation and analysis of ethanol concentration using Gas Chromatography instrument. The hydrolysis process of sago flour are used two steps which is liquification and saccharification using alpha-amylase and glucoamylase which will convert the starch into glucose. The fermentation process of glucose are done with time variation 5, 6, 7 and 8 days to the concentration variation of gelatin addition which is 0,5 %, 1 % and 1,5 % (w/v) as nutrition source for microbe. The obtained ethanol from fermentation process are purified through distillation. Furthermore, analysis of ethanol concentration are used Gas Chromatography. The analysis results are showed the highest ethanol concentration obtained in 7 days with gelatin addition 1,5 % are 79,50 %.

Abstract

Phytochemical and antioxidant activity tests of crude extract and their fractions on stem of rambai (Baccaurea motleyana Mull.Arg.) were carried out. This research was conducted to determine the antioxidant properties of crude extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and methanol fraction. The phytochemical test was carried out by a color test while the antioxidant activity test was carried out by the DPPH method. Phytochemical test result showed crude extracts containing alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids and phenolic compounds. The n-hexane fraction contains a group of alkaloids and steroids. Ethyl acetate fraction contains steroid, flavonoid and phenolic compounds. The remaining methanol fraction contains triterpenoid and phenolic compounds. Antioxidant activity test result showed that the crude extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and the remaining methanol fraction had IC50 values of 127.1032; 58.2275; 32.3562 and 56.4567 ppm, respectively. Based on the result of the antioxidant test, the stem of rambai (Baccaurea motleyana Mull.Arg.) is a plant that has the potential as an antioxidant.

Abstract

Phytochemical test and antioxidant activity test of biriba leaves (Rollinia mucosa (Jacq.) Baill.) has been done. Extraction from biriba leaves was carried out using several solvents, namely ethanol, n-hexane and ethyl acetate. From phytochemical test results from leaves of biriba (R. mucosa) containing secondary metabolites namely alkaloids, phenolics, flavonoids and steroids. Based on the results of the antioxidant test using DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhidrazyl) method showed that the crude extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and residual ethanol fraction had IC50 values of 159.72; 119.62; 40.12 and 38.35 ppm, respectively. From the results of the antioxidant test it is known that the ethanol fraction of the remaining biriba leaves has the strongest antioxidant activity with IC50 values of 38.35 ppm.

Phytochemical tests and antibacterial activity of the roots of Merung plants (Coptosapelta tomentosa) have been done. This research aims to find out the content of secondary metabolites contained in the sample using the Thin Layer Chromatography method and to determine antibacterial activity by paper disc method from methanol extract Merung root (Coptosapelta tomemtosa). Based on results of phytochemical screening, it was known that methanol extract contained alkaloid, polyphenol, flavonoid and terpenoid/steroid. Methanol extract antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes KCCM 11898 range of MIC of 0-1%. Methanol extract showed antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli bacteria ATCC 25922 range of MIC of 0-1%. From the results of the antibacterial activity test it can be concluded that the methanol extract have antibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acne KCCM 11898 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922.

Abstract

Penambahan FeCl3 menyebabkan ekstrak kasar lipase terdenaturasi.
