Abstract

Sintrong plant (Crassocephalum crepidioides (Benth.) S. Moore) have potential antibacterial. This study aims to determine metabolite seconder and antibacterial activity of Sintrong leaf extract (Crassocephalum crepidioides (Benth.) S. Moore) from Wawonggole village, Konawe District, Southeast Sulawesi. The Method of research is experimental research. Analysis to determine flavonoids and tannins is extracted with the maceration method, extracted using 96% ethanol. The flavonoids were tested quantitatively using A1C13 10%. The values obtained in determining the levels of flavonoids were 6.751 mg/g of quercetin and tannin 0.43 %. Antibacterial test to Escherichia coli results in concentrations of 5%, 10%, 20%, and 30% the inhibitory power of 12.20 mm, 12.675 mm, 19.15 mm and 20,85, respectively. The Most effective inhibitory of Sintrong leaf extract was the 30 % concentration.

Abstract

Worm infections caused by Soil Transmitted Helminth (STH) in Indonesia cause diarrhea, malnutrition, and malaise. One of the epidemiology of STH occurs through soil or fertilizer contaminated with STH in vegetables. Therefore, it is necessary to examine and identify STH in vegetables, especially cabbage and basil. The purpose of this study was to determine STH eggs in vegetables from cabbage (Brassica oleracea) and basil (Ocimum basilicum) taken at Pasar Baru, Bekasi. This type of research is descriptive and quantitative with a cross-sectional design. The samples in this study were 12 cabbage and 9 basil leaves taken from Pasar Baru, Bekasi. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Data analysis was done by quantitative descriptive. The results of this study showed that 3 (25%) samples of cabbage and 3 (22.22%) of basil were found to be positive for the presence of STH eggs. The species of STH eggs that were identified were fertile and non-fertile Ascaris lumbricoides. This study concluded that there was contamination of fertile and non-fertile A. lumbrocoides eggs in cabbage and basil vegetables sold in Pasar Baru, Bekasi.Keywords: STH eggs, basil, cabbage, Ascaris lumbricoides, sedimentation method

Abstract

Smoking is one of the causes of various oral diseases that begin with changes in saliva and normal flora. The oral cavity is a part that is very easily exposed to the effects of cigarettes, it is the main place for absorption of substances resulting from cigarette combustion. The normal flora of the human oral cavity includes various types of organisms including Eubacteria, Archaea, Protozoa, Mycoplasma, and Fungi. The genus Candida is the most common causative fungus. Candida infections usually develop on mucous membranes such as the mouth and are responsible for the development of disorders such as Candidiasis in the oral cavity. This study aims to determine the effect of smoking on the growth of Candida sp. to Prodia Bandung employees. The method used in this research is an analytical survey method where the sampling is obtained randomly. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that there was no relationship between smoking habits and the number of Candida sp. on Prodia Bandung employees. Keywords: Relationship, Smoking, Colonies, Candida sp.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is still ongoing around the world. The rapid and easy development and validation of diagnostic methods is a top priority in response to the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The study aimed to evaluate the performance of the SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT-Ag). The RDT-Ag kits evaluated in the study were RDT-Ag VD, RDT-Ag GB kits, and RDT-Ag TS kits that included sensitivity and specificity values. rRT-PCR and RDT-Ag tests use 90 samples of the same nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swab. The samples included 30 positive samples (Ct ≤ 25), 30 positive samples (Ct 25), and 30 negative samples. Then, the results of rRT-PCR are used as a standard reference for RDT-Ag evaluation. RDT-Ag VD kit obtained 80% sensitivity in the positive sample group with a Ct value of ≤25, and 10% in the positive sample group with a Ct value of 25 with 93.3% specificity. The RDT-Ag GB kit obtained 70% sensitivity in the positive sample group with a Ct value of ≤ 25, and 10% in the positive sample group with a Ct value of 25 with 100% specificity. The RDT-Ag TS kit obtained 93.3% sensitivity in the positive sample group with a Ct value of ≤25, and 20% in the positive sample group with a Ct value of 25 with 100% specificity. The sensitivity of RDT-Ag compared to the rRT-PCR results increased in the sample with a Ct value of ≤25 ( 70%) and its sensitivity decreased dramatically in the sample with a Ct value of  25 ( 20%).

Abstract

Measuring the level of patient satisfaction is absolutely necessary in an effort to improve the quality of health services. Through these measurements, it can be seen to what extent the dimensions of the quality of health services that have been implemented can meet patient expectations. The existence of complaints from consumers regarding laboratory services can result in a decrease in consumer confidence to use laboratory services. The UPTD Laboratory of the Abiansemal I Public health center is required to always maintain consumer confidence by improving the quality of service so that customer satisfaction increases. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of conformity between expectations and reality received by patients  at the UPTD Laboratory of the Abiansemal I Public health center in 2022 and to find out which services should be a priority for improvement for improving the quality of laboratory services. This research is a non-experimental research with an exploratory qualitative research design using questionnaires and in-depth interviews. The study was conducted in January 2022 by taking samples of outside patients, aged 17-60 years. The level of satisfaction of outpatients with services at the UPTD Clinical Laboratory of the Abiansemal I Public health center is quite high, however, there are services that have not been carried out properly and optimally so that they have not provided satisfaction to laboratory customers.

Abstract

Background Anemia in pregnancy is a major health problem in developing countries with a high level of morbidity in pregnant women. The incidence of anemia in pregnancy is a condition of pregnant women with hemoglobin (Hb) levels 11 g/dL in the first and third trimesters, meanwhile in the second trimester Hb levels 10.5 g/dL. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of hemoglobin levels in pregnant women in the work area of Puskesmas Tampaksiring I. The research method used a descriptive type of research conducted in January-May 2022 with a total of 38 respondents obtained by random sampling technique. Hemoglobin levels were measured by the Point Of Care Testing (POCT) method. The results showed that 38 respondents (42.1%) had low hemoglobin levels, (55.3%) had normal hemoglobin levels, and (2.6%) had high hemoglobin levels. Low hemoglobin levels were mostly found in pregnant women who were in the range of 18-25 years, with less knowledge and were in a risky gestational age (Trimester I and III) and did not comply in taking blood-boosting tablets (TTD). The conclusion of this study is that most pregnant women have normal hemoglobin levels with a percentage of 55.3%.

Abstract

Salah satu faktor yang bisa mempengaruhi kadar asam urat adalah aktivitas fisik, petani di RT 30 RW 07 Desa Sananrejo Kecamatan Turen Kabupaten Malang sebagian besar masih menggunakan cara tradisional dalam melakukan pekerjaannya, artinya masih banyak menggunakan tenaga fisik dibandingkan menggunakan alat-alat modern. Penelitian ini bertujuan Mengetahui  gambaran kadar asam urat pada petani RT 30 RW  07 Desa Sananrejo Kecamatan Turen Kabupaten Malang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif Observasional dengan pendekatan Cross Sectional.  Sampel terdiri dari 30 responden, populasi sebanyak 42 petani RT. 30 RW. 07 Desa Sananrejo Kecamatan Turen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik responden berdasarkan jenis kelamin responden yang Asam Urat tidak  normal sebagian besar berjenis kelamin Laki- laki  sebanyak 6 orang , Karakteristik Responden Berdasarkan Usia responden yang Asam Urat tidak  normal sebagian besar berusia 40 – 50 tahun sebanyak 6 responden, Karakteristik Responden Berdasarkan Makanan Tinggi Purin bahwa responden yang  Mengonsumsi makanan tinggi purin  kadar Asam Urat tinggi sebanyak 11 responden sedangkan yang rendah sebanyak 3 responden. Saran penelitian ini adalah perlu melakukan pola hidup sehat dengan istirahan yang cukup,  mengonsumsi makanan yang sehat dan bergizi serta olahraga yang teratur. Kata kunci : Asam Urat,  Petani, Buruh

Abstract

Aloe vera has many health benefits, containing saponins, aloin anthraquinone complex, barbaloin, isobarbaloin, athranol, aloemodin, cinnamic acid, chrysophanic acid, reistanol and essential oils. The aim of the study was to determine the effect of Aloe vera extract on the growth of Salmonella typhi bacteria. Research is experimental. Research Methods with Kirby Bouer. Concentrations were 100%, 70% and 50% with chloramphenicol control on Muller Hinton media. The results of the study based on the growth inhibition zone of Salmonella typhi with a minimum concentration of 50% have shown the ability to inhibit bacterial growth with the results of inhibition zones of each concentration of 50% of the inhibition zone being 7 ± 0.66 mm, 70% : 8.4 ± 0.38 and 100% : 12 ± 0.65. Inhibition zone of control : 22.58 ± 0.28. Aloe vera has the ability to inhibit the growth of Salmonella typhi in vitro

Abstract

Background:Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) is a virus that attacks and causes respiratory problems. Patients with comorbid diabetes mellitus are in the high-risk category if they get infected with COVID-19, with a 50% risk of death compared to those without diabetes mellitus. In Covid-19 patients, coagulation disorders are often found, and D-Dimer examination and CRP levels for inflammatory processes must bechecked to assess the continuity of the coagulation process. Aims:This research aims to analyze D-dimer and CRP levels in confirmed Covid-19 patients with comorbid diabetes mellitus at the Jakarta Haji Hospital. Methods:The research is a cross-sectional research design. Data was taken from medical records of patients aged over 25 years who were treated with confirmed Covid-19 with comorbid diabetes mellitus at the Jakarta Haji Hospital for the period June 2021-September 2021 and obtained data for 80 people. Results:Patient characteristics for this research in the majority age group came from adults (25-55 years), as many as 45 people (56%), the sex group of the majority of male patients totalling 44 people (55%), and Blood Glucose Levels during with the largest group in the group that has levels of 200 300 mg/dl of 57 people (71%). Analysis of D-Dimer levels showed that 50 people (63%) had high values ( 5 ng/mL), while CRP levels showed that 55 people (69%) had high values ( 60 mg/dL). Conclusion:COVID-19 patients with comorbid Diabetes Mellitus have increased levels of D-Dimer and CRP with mean results are 7.0 ng/mL and 68.5 mg/dL.

Abstract

Bacillus thuringiensis merupakan bakteri berbentuk batang, tidak berkapsul, bersifat gram positif, bersifat motil dengan flagel peritrik, serta membentuk spora. Bakteri ini merupakan kelompok bakteri dalam grup Cereus. Lebih dari 82 serovar Bt diidentitifkasi dengan analisis antigen flagellar (serotyping). Namun, klasifikasi ini memiliki keterbatasan dalam mendeferensiasi kekerabatan spesies ini. Setelah dilakukan uji PCR dengan primer general 16s rRNA dan di sequencing menggunakan sanger sequencing. Sequence DNA kemudian di lakukan analisis menggunakan software MEGA X. Aligment dengan reference yang ada di genebank menggunakan statistik clustal W dan kemudian dihitung jarak genetisnya. Dari hasil perhitungan jarak genetis, isolat Salatiga terbagi menjadi 3 kelompok besar dengan jarak genetis antar isolat 0, yaitu kelompok 1  isolat Salatiga 2,8,11,12,13,17 dan 19. Kemudian kelompok isolat Salatiga 6 dan 7, terakhir isolat salatiga 9.  Kelompok 1 dan 2 memiliki jarak genetis sebesar 0,55%, kelompok 1 dan 3 sebesar 0,68 persen, kelompok 2 dan 3 sebesar 0,14%. Dari perhitungan jarak genetis kemudian di konstruksi menjadi pohon filogeni. Dari konstruksi pohon filogeni, isolat salatiga terbagi menjadi dua klaster. Klaster 1 yaitu isolat salatiga 2,8,11,12,13,17 dan 19 dekat dengan B.thuringiensis serovar israelensis. Sedangkan klaster 2 isolat 6,7 dan 9 dekat dengan B.thuringiensis serovar kurstaki. Dari hasil analisis data sekunder bakteri grup Cereus di genebank dan kontruksi pohon filogeninya. gen 16s rRNA saja tidak cukup untuk membedakan dan mengelompokan grup bakteri Cereus.
