Abstract

Tenggur Village, Rejotangan District, Tulungagung Regency is a village where the majority of its residents work as fish farmers. Currently, one of the diseases that attack fish is thought to be caused by infection with Aeromonas hydrophila bacteria, the fish's body parts will bleed, especially the chest, abdomen and at the base of the fins, and the fish will die even though the pond is well maintained. Fish disease control is currently still using chemicals so that the impact of beneficial bacteria will be destroyed in the pond environment and residues of compounds in fish that will be harmful to health if consumed. Streptomyces bacteria are bacteria that are able to produce enzymes and antibiotics that can be used as biocontrol agents for several diseases caused by bacteria. The purpose of this study was to isolate and identify Streptomyces bacteria from soil ponds in Tenggur Tulungagung Village, East Java. Isolation was carried out using the serial dilution method. Streptomyces were isolated from an earthen pond with a depth of 15 cm from the soil surface and planted on Yeast Extract Malt Agar (ISP4) media. The growing colonies were observed macroscopically and microscopically, as well as biochemical tests using the Guide to the Classification and Identification of the Actinomycetes and Their antibiotics from Lechevalier and Waksman (1973). The results showed 4 isolates of Streptomyces sp.1, Streptomyces sp.2, Streptomyces sp.3, Streptomyces sp.4. The four isolates will later be tested against Aeromonas hydrophyla bacteria, which is the cause of Motile Aeromonas septicemia.

Abstract

Background: Repellents are chemicals or non-chemicals that can prevent insect activity from approaching humans. The development of repellent products needs to be done so as not to cause skin irritation and provide skin health. The purpose of this study was to carry out phytochemical and repellent tests to determine the active content and effectiveness of virgin coconut oil (VCO) supplementation with Citronella oil (CO) repellent essential oil against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Method: The research method used was true experiment with Posttest Only Control Group Design with experimental group namely VCO, VCO supplementation with 10% and 20% CO. Results: VCO supplementation with CO contained flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, terpenoids, and saponins. VCO has a repellant power of 68.47%, supplementation with a combination of VCO with CO 10% is 97.55% and a concentration of 20% is 100%.  Conclusion: VCO and CO supplementation of 10% and 20% were effective as repellants against Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. These two concentrations did not have a significant difference, so the 10% concentration could be used as the basis for further research. The presence of active ingredients in VCO supplementation with CO provides potential as a repellant and skin health care.. Suggestion: Organoleptic testing on this supplementation repellent product needs to be done so that it can be used by the community..

Abstract

Backgrounds of hemoglobin is a metalloprotein in red blood cells that functions as an oxygen booster from the lungs to the rest of the body. To maintain hemoglobin levels in the body, especially in pregnant women, it is necessary to have adequate intake of nutrients, namely iron. If the intake of iron in pregnant women is less, it will increase the risk of anemia. Anemia is a condition or condition that causes low levels of hemoglobin (Hb). Albuminuria or proteinuria is a condition in which urine or urine contains an abnormal amount of albumin. Throughout pregnancy, pregnant women are usually advised to take a urine test. One of the focuses of the urine test is to determine urine protein levels in pregnant women. In pregnant women, there is a phase where urine protein levels increase, namely, lack of fluids, exposure to cold and extreme weather, new strenuous activities, and emotional stress also often causes urine protein levels in pregnant women to increase, and impaired kidney function. or urinary tract infection. The method we used in this research is descriptive research method to describe the levels of hemoglobin (Hb) and urine protein in pregnant women at the Ubud 1 Public Health Center, Gianyar-Bali. With the sampling technique using the probability sampling method, with a simple random sampling technique. The results of 41 respondents, that pregnant women who have normal Hb levels (≥ 11 g/dL) at Puskesmas Ubud 1 were found to be more than pregnant women who have low Hb levels ( 11 g/dL). And from the total sample, as well as 2 pregnant women from the urine protein level examination data were positive. The conclusion after averaging the Hb and urine protein levels of pregnant women at the ubud 1 health center that it can be said that the health condition of pregnant women is quite good, but there are still some respondents who show results that are not in accordance with normal limits, therefore it is important to maintain health and pattern healthy living. Keywords: hemoglobin, urine protein, pregnant women

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients can cause oxidative stress which can trigger complications, namely cardiovascular disease. Increased levels of total cholesterol can cause atherosclerosis which can cause blockage of blood vessels so that it becomes one of the causes of cardiovascular disease. Atherosclerosis can cause inflammation and tissue damage so that the result of this inflammation causes an increase in levels of High sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (Hs-CRP). High sensitivity C-Reactive Protein (Hs-CRP) can be called the most significant predictor of inflammation markers of the risk of cardiovascular events. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between total cholesterol levels and levels of High sensitivity C Reactive Protein (Hs-CRP) in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. This type of research was an analytical observation using a cross sectional approach.  The results of statistical analysis using a non-parametric spearman rank test from the correlation test, the significance value of 24 samples was 0.392, then p0.05 the  Correlation Coefficient was -0.183, which means that there is no correlation between total cholesterol levels and Hs-CRP levels in people with diabetes mellitus type 2 which is weakly correlated.
