Abstract

This study was a quasi-experimental study. It was to find out the use of peer tutoring strategy and its significant effect to teach reading comprehension. The population of this research was the whole year-8 students of SMP NEGERI 2 Pontianak. Cluster random sampling was used to determine the sample. The samples were students of year-8 H as the experimental group and year-8 D as the control group. Measurement technique was employed in this research. The tool of collecting data was reading test and further analyzed by using SPSS software. The research result showed that peer tutoring strategy was effective to teach reading comprehension and Ho rejected since t value > ttable (5.081 > 2.0032). The result of the effect size calculation yielded a strong effect (1.237). In brief, it can be concluded that peer tutoring strategy had the strong effect in teaching reading comprehension of narrative text. It is suggested to be applied in teaching reading comprehension

Abstract

This study aims to improve the ability of language teachers in creating lesson plans using academic supervision methods. Academic supervision is one of the principals' tasks in developing teachers through the supervisory function to solve educational problems, including problems faced by teachers simultaneously and not looking for teacher errors. The form of this research is the School Action Research (SAR), which uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. In this study consists of two cycles and carried out using academic supervision methods to improve the ability in creating lesson plans in Indonesian and English subjects. The data obtained are in the form of teacher observation sheets in teaching supervision activities. From the results of analysts it was found that the ability to create lesson plans for language teachers increased from cycle I and cycle II, namely, cycle I to Indonesian language teachers I (60%), Indonesian language teachers II (45%), English language teachers I (50%) and English teacher II (40%) and in cycle II there was an increase in Indonesian language teacher I (80%), Indonesian language teacher II (85%), English teacher I (90%) and English teacher II (75% ). The conclusion of this study is that academic supervision methods can improve the ability to create lesson plans in language teachers in Negeri 3 Matan Hilir Selatan.

Abstract

The development of sports in schools is really needed to improve the students’achievements of SMP Negeri 1 Matan Hilir Selatan, at its increased level. Seeing its success on basketball, it still needs very serious coaching to pursue the achievements. To achieve the desired performance certainly requires training, both technical trainings and tactics to strengthen the match team. For this, discipline, sportsmanship, the courage to work together and responsibilities are highly expected because in basketball games there are many rules that must be implemented, such as movements for throwing, catching, dribling, and shooting. There are several alternatives to come out with the method of playing like searching what problems of not understanding all movements Power (explosive power) and speed of reactivity, agility as well flexibility. In carrying out something work must have a purpose, so there is no deviation that can reach its goal as well in the implementation of this study. The authors have the purpose of knowing the relationship between speeding and dribling in the basketball skills by players. This research was conducted in Classroom Action Research Design.(CAR)

Abstract

This research was motivated by several reasons: (1) there was a misconception of some elementary school geometry materials that were considered essential; (2) the form of evaluation given was dominantly objective/multiple choice; (3) teachers' teaching methods tend not to be contextual; and (4) students' way of thinking simply to take the practical one. Through this research, it is expected to obtain information about: geometrical reasoning in elementary schools according to Bruner's theory, problem solving and mathematical representations. Theresearch was conducted in a descriptive analytic form, with the following steps: (1) giving questions for the geometry reasoning test for SMP; (2) analyzing answers according to the criteria of reasoning; and (3) mapping students' answers to the results of the analysis according to the profile criteria. The data obtained were analyzed, and the results were described to illustrate the condition of the geometric reasoning abilities of elementary school students. Theresults obtained in this study were: (1) The Mastery of the concept of geometry in each junior high school/equivalent. The target with the acquisition of an average score from all schools was 55, which was quite low because there were some students who did not master the concept of geometry and there were other mathematical concepts related to solving test questions; (2) There was no significant difference in the mastery of geometry concepts for male or femalestudents for each SMP/equivalent target, except for one school, namely SMP Negeri 17, which was because males are superior to females in three questions with a difference in the percentage of numbers of significantly correct; (3) The mastery of geometry concepts in each junior high school. The target of studying each geometry material was considered good, except for question number 1 with the subject of the Pythagorean Theorem, because students were dominant in not being able to use the relationship between concepts, especially the operation ofthe compounding form and the roots.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to improve students' grammartical skills through "clothesline tenses". Inspired by the natural resources-based West Kalimantan local knowledge, the researcher was constructing media "clothesline tenses" using batik scrap materials cloth stitching authentically from West Kalimantan. Teaching and learning using locally available,plentiful, cheap and effectiveresources provide a good chance for quality teaching. They bring to alive classroom instruction and make learning more exciting. This research reflected that the implementation of this teaching media has increased the students’ grammartical mastery positively. Supporting the positive process resulted, the quantitative data also revealed that without using “clothesline tenses”, students’ learning outcomes showed 39% while using “clothesline tenses” increased to 88%. It can be concluded that the use of "clothesline tenses" can improve the students’grammartical mastery, and attract students to make a lot of correct English sentences meeting the criteria Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL).

Abstract

This research aims to answer four main objectives, namely: (1) the design of the module following the stage of (a) purpose and use of chemistry module, (b) target to achieve the learning objectives of chemistry subject of redox and hydrocarbon, (c) reflection can be seen from cognitive score and questionnare responses provided to the learner. (2) stages of learning scenarios: preparation, conditioning the learners, introduction, individual work, assessment of the learner work, reflection and closing as well as assessment. (3) profile of chemistry learning module which consists of the cover, preface, able of contents, the standard of competence (SK), basic competence (KD), indicators, instructions for using the module, a map of the position of the module, concept map material, descriptions, prerequisites, the final objectives, prior knowlege checking, learning activities (consisting of material description, summary, assignments, and tests formative), evaluation, conclusion, references. (4) acquisition of the concept of redox and hydrocarbons can also be seen from the provision of the questions that serve to test extent to which learners can understand what has been obtained by the learners with the acquisition of early learners ability scores an average of 53,2 and the final ability with an average score of 79. In terms of process, the chemistry learning module could deliver positive results for learners.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil ulangan harian matematika melalui model pembelajaran Group Investigation pada materi statistika siswa kelas XI IPS SMA Negeri 2 Paloh. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh hasil bahwa (1) Penerapan model pembelajaran Group Investigation pada materi statistika memberikan kontribusi yang baik terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam mengidentifikasitopik dan pengelompokan, merencanakan penyelidikan kelompok,melaksanakan penyelidikan, menyiapkan laporan akhir, menyajikan laporan, evaluasi menjadi lebih baik (2)Hasil ulangan harian dengan model pembelajaran Group Investigation di kelas XI IPS SMAN 2 Paloh dapat meningkat sebesar 23,91%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tersebut, maka pembelajaran menggunakan model pembelajaran Group Investigation dapat membantu meningkatkan hasilbelajar siswa kelas XI IPS SMAN 2 Paloh pada kelompok atas, menengah dan bawah.

Abstract

Sudah saatnya dunia pendidikan mempertimbangkan aspek kreativitas dalam mendidik peserta didiknya, terutama di era globalisasi yang penuh dengan persaingan seperti sekarang ini, karena kreativitas sangat dibutuhkan dalam hal membuat sesuatu yang baru.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat upaya yang dilakukan guru PAUD dalam mengembangkan kreativitas anak usia dini khususnya pada guru di sepulu lembaga PAUD yang ada di kota Pontianak pada tahun 2015. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu dengan cara observasi langsung dengan instrumen observasi terstruktur. Hasil yang diperoleh yaitu 80% guru yang diobeservasi telah melakukan hal-hal yang mendukung kreatifitas AUD dengan kategori sangat baik, namun 50% guru masih juga melakukan hal yang menghambat kretaivitas.

Abstract

Development research is research that produces a new product, in the form of concepts, theories, models, methods, strategies, and media in a learning process. The product is expected to provide benefits both theoretically and practically in improving the quality of learning. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the card-based learning model with constructivist approaches in improving learning outcomes and learning activeness. The study used an experimental method of one group pretest-posttest design with descriptive qualitative and quantitative narrative approaches. Procedural development model consisting of; potential and problems, data collection, productdesign, validation and revision, testing and final products. Data collection techniques and instruments used observation and test techniques with observation sheet instruments and question exercises (pretest-posttest). Analysis of qualitative and quantitative descriptive narrative data. The results of data analysis found 40% of students with a difference in learning outcomes after actions above 10 points, 46.66% difference in learning outcomes below 10 points, 6.66% stagnant, and 6.66% decreased. While the activeness of learning before the action is 33.33% and 66.66% after the action. This means that learning outcomes and activeness increase significantly from  the previous condition. So it can be concluded that the card-based learning model witha constructivist approach can improve learning outcomes and student learningactiveness.

Abstract

The purpose of this study to obtain objective information and explanations about the development of the module with multirepresentasi approach in improving the understanding of physics concepts learners of Junior High School of Christiani Immanuel 2 Sungai Raya. The method used in this research is the research and development using a model Borg & Gall. The tool of data collection that is used in the form of guidance interviews; test questionnaire, the content, instructional media expert test, and one by one; as well as tests. Results of the research is a module approach multirepresentasi the concept of optical instrument that has the following sections: a) the opening section consist of (cover, a review of subjects, content, concept maps, and indicators of learning), b) the main part consist of (introduction, learning activities (goal, description of the material presented using representations verbal, of physics and mathematic, summaries, exercises, formative tests, key’s answer, as well as feedback and follow-up), and conclusion), and c) at the last (the final test, glossary and references). This module has a level of effectiveness of the cognitive aspects of learning acquisition of 79% as well as it very attractive, it easy, and it is very beneficial for the students to learn the material optical instrument
