Abstract

Despite the changes in language teaching approach from years ago until this day, it seems that students’ low capability to use English communicatively has been a crucial issue for most EFL students. Thus, this phenomenon still encourages educators and researchers to keep on searching for a language teaching approach that can be called as a perfect approach. In the search of socalled perfect language teaching approach, there have been many teaching approaches such as grammar-translation method, audio lingual method, and communicative language teaching that have been used and implemented by teachers/educators around the world. Even until today, those teaching approaches are still considered as teachers’ / scholars’ favorite. Then, in the early 2000, Scott Thornbury presented his own innovation of a teaching approach that called Dogme approach. He emphasized that teaching language is not as effective as before because most of teachers, nowadays, have been strictly attached to course books or textbooks in their teaching that makes the main goal to set up a real communicative atmosphere among learners is not achieved. He claims that in a classroom, there should be only teacher and learners. Then, this paper aims to describe about what is Dogme in ELT, its application, its criticism and the possibility to use this approach in Indonesian context.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui gambaran peningkatan kemampuan menulis surat lamaran pekerjaan melalui metode Quantum Writing pada siswa Kelas XI Mia 1 SMAN 1 Menjalin. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas. Subjek dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 35 siswa yang dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus. Teknik pengumpulan data terdiri dari observasi dan tes. Prosedur yang digunakan adalah (1) tahap perencanaan, (2) pelaksanaan, (3) observasi, (4) refleksi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan dapat meningkatkan aktivitas belajar. hal ini dapat dilihat dari aktivitas guru pada siklus I diperoleh rata-rata 27,5 dengan kriteria “cukup” dan meningkat pada siklus II dengan rata-rata 34 dengan kriteria “baik”. Pada aktivitas siswa pada siklus I diperoleh rata-rata 29 dengan kriteria “cukup” dan meningkat pada siklus II dengan skor rata-rata 32 dengan kriteria “baik”. Hasil analisis ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal pada siklus I sebesar 50% dengan nilai rata-rata 72,9. Pada siklus II ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal sebesar 75% dengan nilai rata-rata 79,6. Berdasarkan data tersebut ketuntasan belajar klasikal mengalami peningkatan. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode Quantum Writing dapat meningkatkan aktivitas belajar dalam pembelajaran menulis surat lamaran pekerjaan siswa di kelas XII MIA 1 SMAN 1 Menjalin Kecamatan Menjalin Kabupaten Landak.

Abstract

This study is aimed to describe cooperative learning assisted by teaching aids that can improve mathematical understanding of 8th grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Sukadana on cube and beam material. This type of research is classroom action research. The steps of cooperative learning assistedby teaching aids that can improve students' mathematical understanding of cube and beam material are: 1) Conveying goals and preparing students, in this phase the teacher gives apperception and conveys the learning objectives, 2) Presenting information, in this phase the teacher explores students'initial abilities and delivering lesson material 3) Organizing students into learning teams, in this phase the teacher organizes students into heterogeneous learning groups based on student grades and sexes 4) Helping teamwork and learning, in this phase the teacher guides students who have difficulty in completing their group assignments.5) Evaluating, in this phase the teacher gives an individual quiz question. 6) Giving recognition or appreciation, in this phase the teacher gives awards to the group that successfully completes the group task well. Students' understanding of cube and beam material after the application of cooperative learning assisted by teaching aids in this study increased from the"good" category to the "very good" category.

Abstract

Appropriated learning method has an important role in achievement of a good learning outcomes. This study aims to find out the influence of Numbered Head Together learning method assisted by mathematical audio-visual media on learning outcomes in solid figure. This study used an experimental method in the form of One Group Pretest Posttest Design with the initial test and final test. The population of this study was the fifth grade students of Public Elementary School 01 Semanget consisting of 2 classes namely V-A and V-B. While the sampleof this research was the V-A class students. Data collection technique used test and documentation. The instrument of this study was the essay test. Based on the result of data analysis, the average of pretest was 46.65 and the posttest average was 70.55. The result of the paired samples t-test calculation in hypothesis testing are t count (8.410)>t table (2,024). It can be concluded that H a is accepted, it means that the Numbered Head Together method assisted byaudio visual mathematical media has a big influence on learning outcomes in solid figure. The calculation of the effect size using the Cohen formula obtaines of 1.82, this shows that the method of Numbered Head Together has a big influence on learning outcomes in the material of solid figure.

Abstract

Pembelajaran terpadu merupakan pendekatan belajar mengajar yang melibatkan beberapa kajian aspek perkembangan dalam satu tema pembelajaran Anak Usia Dini. Pembelajaran terpadu memberikan konsep belajar bermakna yang dipelajari melalui pengalaman langsung alami. Pembelajaran terpadu menyajikan berbagai konsep yang akan dipelajari secara terpadu. Hal ini akan sesuai dengan karakteristik perkembangannya sehingga anak akan belajar dengan mudah dan bermakna. Pembelajaran terpadu bertolak dari tema yang diambil dari lingkungan anak. Dengan demikian anak dapat mengeksplor tema-tema tersebut sehingga didapatkan suatu konsep pengetahuan yang utuh yang dekat dengan anak, sehingga anak akan leluasa dalam menggali pengetahuannya dan anak belajar dengan motivasi tinggi dan kondisi yang menyenangkan, sehingga potensinya dapat berkembang secara optimal. Pembelajaran yang paling efektif untuk anak usia TK adalah melalui suatu kegiatan yang konkrit dan pendekatan yang berorientasi bermain. Adapun tujuan penilaian dari pembelajaran terpadu anak usia dini yaitu: (a) Merencanakan pembelajaran individual dan kelompok, serta untuk berkomunikasa dengan para orang tua; (b) Mengidentifiksikan anak yang memerlukan bantuan atau layanan khusus; (c) Mengevaluasi apakah tujuan program pendidikan usia dini sudah tercapai atau belum.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to know: 1) how were the procedures of conducting private conversation in an effort to improve the competence of the principals in performing academic supervision; 2) whether private conversation improved the competence of the principals in academic supervision. This type of research was the School Action Research by using a method ofdescription. The results concluded: 1) The process of conducting private conversation done by the procedures: making records of observation, analyzing observation, conducting interviews and conducting private conversation; 2) The technique of private conversation increased the competence of the principals, performing the academic supervision. The point was the increase of the average value experienced from the first cycle to the second cycle. The average value of the competency of the principals conducting the academic supervision in SMA Sinar Kasih Sintang increased by 13%, in SMAN. 1 Sepauk 16% and in SMAN. 2 Sintang 16%.

Abstract

The dimensions of students’ achievement consist of various factors. These factors include completeness of school infrastructure, attention from parents, study habits, and achievement motivation. From several studies conducted by researchers in the field of education, it was found that achievement motivation factors had a greater contribution than other factors. Therefore, a teacher needs to know the needs of students to pursue their learning achievement. With this good understanding, the teacher can look for various efforts to grow motivation in accordance with the diversity or characteristics of the students.

Abstract

This research will explain what teacher competence is and how efforts to improve teacher competency are seen from the role of the principal. Hopefully this article can be used as material for reflection for teachers and other parties with an interest in education. The principal's leadership task will succeed well if a principal understands the task to be carried out. Therefore the principal will appear in a process where he is able to direct, guide, influence and or master the thoughts, feelings or behavior of others. For success in achieving school goals requires professional headmaster's leadership, in which he understands his duties and obligations as a leader, as well as carrying out his role as a leader. In addition,the principal must establish a good cooperative relationship withsubordinates, so as to create a work atmosphere that makes subordinates feel safe, secure, and have a freedom in developing their ideas in order to achieve common goals that have been set.

Abstract

Mathematics is a study on the materials that has abstract objects and is built through a process of deductive reasoning, that is, the truth of a concept is obtained as the logical consequence of the truth that has previously been received, so the interrelationship concepts in mathematics are very strong and clear. In learning mathematics to be easily understood by students, the process of deductive reasoning is to strengthen the understanding that is already owned by students. Mathematics Learning objectives are training how to think systematically, logically, critically, creatively and consistently. While the objectives of this study are: (a) to know the improvement of students’ learning achievement after the application of the cooperative learning method of TGT model. (b) to know the effect of students’ learning motivation after the application of the cooperative learning method of TGT model. From the results of analysis obtained, it was revealed that the students’ achievement has increased from cycle I to cycle III that is, cycle I (66.67%), cycle II (77.78%), cycle III (88.89%). In conclusion, this research provides a positive effect onlearning motivation of Class V SDN 6 Parit Pelang students and this TGT model can be used as an alternative learning mathematics model.

Abstract

The implementation of the 2013 curriculum (K-13) has a consequence that teachers must be more qualified in carrying out learning activities. Because K-13 mandates the application of a scientific approach (5M) which includes observing, asking, gathering information, reasoning / associating, and communicating. Mathematic Teachers North Bintan Elementary School often did not give opportunity for students to get the opportunity to think creatively, critically,collaboratively and communicatively. This happens because the learning model carried out by the teacher has not implemented a learning model that can optimally accommodate students' interests and potential. Researchers have taught as classroom teachers since 2012. In the 2018/2019 academic year, researchers taught fourth grade. As a class teacher, the writer teaches all subjects, including PPKN, Indonesian, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, andSBdP. Of the six subjects, the lowest average score for daily tests was mathematics. Basic mathematics competencies are in semester II include KD 3.9, namely; Explaining and determining the perimeter and area of squares, rectangles, and triangles as well as the square relationship with the square root is the KD with the lowest score for the daily test scores of grade IV a SD Negeri 003 Bintan Utara. Class IV mathematics learning process at SD Negeri003 North Bintan often did not make students get the opportunity to think creatively, critically, collaboratively and communicatively, this happened because the learning model carried out by the teacher has not implemented a learning model that could optimally accommodate students' interests and potential. The impact was that many students could not achieve the minimum mastery level at 72. The purpose of writing this paper was to describe mathematics learning atSD Negeri 003 North Bintan, and to describe the Learning Implementation Plan with the Discovery Learning learning model, and to describe the Discovery Learning scenario. The basis for this paper was the low level of understanding of students in doing math problems.
