Abstract

Gout caused by hyperuricemia is a condition of high of uric acid in the blood. The condition of hyperuricemia in elderly is related to metabolic syndrome which is caused by slow rate of the body's metabolism. This activity aims to determine a prevalence of hyperuricemia in elderly at four Posbindu as a working area of ​​Kalibaru Health Center. Type of research is cross sectional with a simple random sampling method. The activity was carried out in August 2019. The method to measurement of uric acid levels by the strip method. The Descriptive test results showed a modus of the elderly is at the age of 65 years and the oldest at the age of 89 years. The percentage of elderly people who experience hyperuricemia based on WHO 2013 criteria as many as 8.8% from a total of 68 elderly. The conclusion of this activity indicates that 90% of elderly in the working area of the Kalibaru Helath Center have normal of uric acid levels.

Abstract

Increasing the strengthening of teacher competency through Community Service activities in the preparation of hand sanitizers in deciding the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak for teachers and laboratory assistants of Harapan Bersama Tegal City. The limitations of the teachers and laboratory assistants in making hand sanitizers quickly and productively became the main study material discussed. The solution offered is to provide mentoring and training to teachers and laboratory assistants for the manufacture of hand sanitizers such as liquid forms, gels and herbal extracts. The training aims to improve the competence of teachers and laboratory assistants in increasing understanding in making hand sanitizer dosage forms to take a role in deciding the spread of covid outbreaks. This training activity is carried out for 3 days with material, making sedans and evaluating preparations to produce good hand sanitizers. The results of this PKM (Community service) found an increase in science and competence in the manufacture of hand sanitizer formulations by 21%.

Abstract

Community service activities of the Batam State Polytechnic in 2018 are held together by all departments and taken place in Rempang Cate Village, Galang District, Batam City. A good documentation that can be seen more real is needed so that this activity can be better known by the outside community. One documentation that fulfills this expectation is a documentary video. This video production consists of 3 stages, namely pre-production, production, and post-production. The activity not only ends when the documentary video is finished, but continues with an evaluation to find out whether the video in presenting service activities is better when compared to ordinary documentation (by photo). Then, the video is published in the mass media, both print and electronic media. The results of the devotion to the making of this documentary video is the documentation of the community service of the Batam State Polytechnic in 2018 well and real, as well as the recognition of the Batam State Polytechnic and its social services in the wider community.

Abstract

The existence of technology in the world of work is very necessary in the current era and will make a worker more quickly complete his work. The problem that occurs is the lack of knowledge to operate an autocad program that can accelerate the completion of work, especially related to development planning. Training is needed to improve employee knowledge and abilities. The method used in the form of stages of preparation, implementation, and evaluation as well as implementation. The results show that the training activities are in accordance with what is expected and in accordance with the application of social exchange theory, namely the perceived benefits of the organization for giving employees the opportunity to attend training. An assessment of the success of the training has shown results that are above predetermined standards. Although it is not yet optimal, training activities can provide benefits felt by the organization.

Abstract

Reading has many benefits, one of which is opening the world. PISA research shows a low level of Indonesian literacy compared to countries in the world. Needs to be done to foster interest in reading from an early age and apply it to the community. Based on the initial survey, The Cililitan RPTRA has good facilities, such as the availability of a library room. The number of visitors to the library room is small. We can see that there is a low interest in reading at The Cililitan RPTRA visitors. This activity purpose to achieve a high interest in reading in The Cililitan RPTRA, East Jakarta. The method of activity is community development, encapsulated under the name of The Generation of Reading Fondness Program. Based on interviews with The Cililitan RPTRA visitors this program can increase reading interest. Socialization about the importance of reading needs to be done continuously. Other activities that can upgrade interest in reading such as storytelling and educational games. Procurement of books can be a solution to increase reading choices for visitors to The Cililitan RPTRA.

Abstract

Health problems in the form of infectious and non-communicable diseases originated from the lack of application of preventive and promotive efforts. Increased health problems such as acute respiratory infections and hypertension can be prevented by increasing promotive and preventive efforts for the community. The purpose of this service is to improve primary health services in the Puarwase Hamlet community in achieving optimal quality of life. This service was carried out on 211 families and 20 elderly people in Puarwase Hamlet, Manggarai Regency. Community service activities are directed at overcoming the problem of lack of clean hygiene behavior that results in acute respiratory infections and hypertension. The implementation of activities consists of assessment and health education, health examination, gymnastics and progressive muscle relaxation exercises in elderly hypertension. The impact of these community service activities is awareness of health problems by residents so that citizens have the awareness to overcome problems by empowering themselves through available resources such as health knowledge and skills and utilizing existing health facilities.

Abstract

Clean water is one of the problems faced by the Santa Maria Orphanage. To solve this problem, a Community Service Team of the Musi Charitas Catholic University initiated to make a clean water treatment equipment and provide a training for using and maintaining it, and introduced the importance using of clean water for health. The equipment was made by adopting a hybrid membrane technology. It was gived to the manager of the Orphanage and given training to use and maintain it. While the activity evaluation of introducing the importance of clean water for health showed knowledge increasing of participants about 30%. Salah satu permasalahan yang ditemui di Panti Asuhan Santa Maria adalah ketersediaan air bersih. Hasil analisis laboratorium menunjukkan bahwa air yang digunakan oleh penghuni Panti Asuhan selama ini tidak memenuhi persyaratan air bersih. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut, Tim Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat Universitas Katolik Musi Charitas berinisiatif membuat alat pengolahan air bersih sekaligus meberikan pelatihan penggunaan dan perawatan alat tersebut, serta memberikan sosialisasi tentang pentingnya menggunakan air bersih bagi kesehatan. Alat pengolahan air bersih tersebut dibuat dengan mengadopsi teknologi membran hibrid. Pada saat pelaksanaan kegiatan, alat tersebut diserahkan kepada pengelola Panti Asuhan dan diberikan pelatihan untuk menggunakan dan merawat alat tersebut. Hasil evaluasi sosialisasi tentang pentingnya air bersih menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta sosialisasi sebesar 30%.

Abstract

Tuah Madani Subdistrict Tampan District already has a Waste Bank, but to process organic waste into compost, the Garbage Bank cadres in each RW still do not have this knowledge. The Unilak Community Service Team has the required knowledge, and through this activity a transfer of knowledge is carried out, so that the Garbage Bank Cadres will more optimally manage the waste that has been collected in the Waste Banks of each RW. The method of activities that will be given to the community is, awareness, counseling, demonstration, and evaluation. Awareness is intended to give awareness to the Garbage Bank Cadre that managing waste into compost will have a positive impact on the environment. Counseling aims to provide knowledge to the community so that they are more sensitive to their environment, so that the environment will provide results that benefit their families. Demonstration aims to provide knowledge directly, both through picture shows, and direct practice making compost from household waste. And an evaluation is carried out to determine the level of knowledge of partners before and after the activity, and to find out the success of the activity.

Abstract

Bantul Regency is contributing the highest tourists number in Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Terong Village has potency to be tourism village in this regency, it can be seen as this area is located in the middle of Yogyakarta City and Dlingo Sub-District, many trourist through Terong Village to visit tourism places in Dlingo Sub-District. Effort to optimize the potency of this villade has been started to built CIMA HILL VIEW. This community service activity aims to empower people around CIMA HILL VIEW to be more aware the potency of their village and support the tourism development. Activities that have been done were increasing the awareness regarding tourism potency, developing facilities in CIMA HILL VIEW, and promote this tourist place trough social media, which is Instagram. It hopes that CIMA HILL VIEW can develop and become the part of people economy.

Abstract

Today's technology continues to grow rapidly which can be used to facilitate and support human activities, starting from the homework, business, marketing and office processes. So it takes knowledge to use technology-based facilities to improve human resources that are efficient for life independence. With the development of the world of digitalization technology is becoming evident before humans of this era, where in the past people for shopping and learning must come to the intended destination, but now people only stay at home or anywhere they can do their activities with just the touch of a finger. The ease of this facility is inseparable from the many Android-based applications to market products to be sold, both changing services, goods, and personnel. The condition of changing activities hard to soft activities is because the development of the digital era is very important for students to understand the development and training of Android-based applications in order to gain skills in designing Android-based applications open souce namely with an inventor app that can be used free of charge, its form visuals that make it easier for students to design and create android-based applications.
