Abstract

This study aims to provide a reference for developing a curriculum for learning to read and write Arabic for beginners based on CEFR at levels A1 and A2. The design of the reading and writing learning curriculum used in Indonesia refers to the level of formal education that is not by the level of student ability, making it difficult to understand and boring for novice students. Learning foreign language skills is carried out in stages according to the power of students, not based on their level of formal education. Learning Arabic in Indonesia gives the impression that it is not yet effective from the objectives, materials, methods, media, and teaching evaluations that appear to repeat the next level of learning from the goals, topics, and study materials. Arabic learning based on CEFR is an alternative to learning Arabic in Indonesia in stages in six levels A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2. This research uses the descriptive analysis method to design the early reading and writing curriculum based on CEFR theory. Curriculum validation is carried out by experts in Arabic language learning so that it becomes a better learning curriculum than before. Curriculum design for reading and writing Arabic for beginners at levels A1 and A2 covers essential elements, including objectives, materials, methods, media, and evaluation. The results showed that learning to read and write Arabic can be developed with the CEFR theoretical approach and used in learning Arabic for beginners.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate the implementation of the MBKM (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka, Independent Learning-Independent Campus)’ Model of the connected curriculum in the Arabic Language departments through an online survey. This research is qualitative in nature by inviting responses from 9 heads of Arabic language departments. The results of this survey show that those Arabic Language departments respond to the MBKM ‘connected curriculum’ model positively, among others, by holding seminars, focus group discussions, and any events on the term of MBKM, and curriculum reviews to adopt the MBKM design. It is also found that there are still a few Arabic language departments that have already implemented the MBKM due to the necessary preparation process. This research reveals several designs those nine departments built, for example, the MBKM design with a limited 20 credits outside the department, a full MBKM of 40 credits outside the department, and 60 credits outside the department, while in terms of the implementation, there was a pattern of MBKM outside the department within the same institution and the department at another institution or university. These various designs show that MBKM provides institutions to adjust their curriculum design to meet their needs by considering the rules of MBKM offered by the government.

Abstract

The method of almana (translated as “prevent”) is a method of dialogue based on presenting the evidence and arguments and knowing the reasons behind the authenticity or faultiness of the conversation.  The objective of the research is the method of almana of the primer Arabic literature, that is, the Quran. The research methodologies relied upon in conducting the present study are analytical and inductive methods, which help to collect the examples of almana from the Quran, classify them, and identify the associations of arguments with each other and the implications. The results of the research, which are the rationalist used the method of (almana) in discussions and dialogues, does not make it forbidden to look into this method and search for it in the texts of the Quran and the Sunnah, provided that it does not distort the texts. The method of almana is based on the evidence and arguments, whether with a definitive statement or with the idea that presents the solution to a problem. It came in easy sentences whose meanings are not hidden but for non-scholars. The Qur’anic method of almana is distinguished by using the most appropriate and the most required forms for the statement of the truth using brief sentences as it is very effective to achieve the objectives of the dialogue and its results are seen. Hence, the Qur’anic method of almana doesn’t contain digressions and numerous introductions that lengthen the conversation and miss the guidance and main objectives of the verses. The topics in which the method of almana was used varied, and the research showed that it was used in several issues related to creeds, such as the oneness of Allah, the prophethood of Muhammad, and the resurrection, in addition to ethical issues.

Abstract

Muhammadiyah Boarding School (MBS) Yogyakarta paid great attention to teaching Arabic with the four elements of language skills, especially speaking skills (muhadatsah). Seeing the importance of these skills, MBS held language activities to support the students’ speaking skills, including muhadatsah activities. However, in its implementation, there is no specific teaching material for this muhadatsah activity. For this reason, researchers are trying to compile class VII special muhadatsah teaching materials based on research in the Muhammadiyah Boarding School field. This research is a Research Development (RD) type of research. In collecting data, researchers used the method of interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The main results of this study include, the muhadatsah teaching material is a book in which there is a collection of hiwar texts about the daily life of students equipped with vocabulary often used in Arabic conversations and practice exercises. The presentation of this material is also equipped with attractive colors and images. The students' test scores shows that this teaching material is effective for use in teaching muhadatsah. This result is seen from the analysis of the value of the students which shows that there are differences in values before using this teaching material and after using the teaching material that has been prepared for muhadatsah learning.
