Abstract

Indonesia, once a major global sugar producer, has become increasingly dependent on imports to meet domestic demand. This study analyzes the determinants of sugar import dependency in Indonesia using an econometric approach. The research utilizes time-series data from 2000 to 2024 and applies model economic Indonesian sugar to examine the effects of key variables, including domestic sugar production, consumption, international sugar prices, exchange rates, and government policies. The findings show that domestic production has a significant negative effect on sugar imports, while consumption and international prices have a positive and significant impact. Exchange rate depreciation is also associated with higher import values. In addition, inconsistent government policies contribute to structural inefficiencies in the sugar sector, further reinforcing import dependency. These results indicate that Indonesia’s reliance on sugar imports is driven not only by the imbalance between domestic supply and demand but also by broader economic and institutional factors. Therefore, policy efforts should focus on increasing agricultural productivity, modernizing sugar processing industries, and ensuring consistent trade regulations. Strengthening these aspects is essential to reduce import dependency and enhance the competitiveness and sustainability of Indonesia’s sugar industry.

Abstract

The Sustainable Food Yard (P2L) Program is a strategic initiative to enhance household food security while promoting women’s empowerment through the utilization of home gardens. Despite its potential, the implementation of this program still faces various challenges, particularly in Kalolok Village, Batupapan Subdistrict, Makale District, Tana Toraja Regency, which has distinct geographical and social conditions. This study employs a qualitative case study approach to explore in depth the empowerment process experienced by the Women Farmers Group (KWT) in implementing the P2L program. The research is descriptive-exploratory in nature, aiming to understand the dynamics, strategies, and challenges faced by the group. The findings indicate that the level of empowerment of KWT members is relatively high, as reflected in active participation in planning (72%), training (80%), mentoring (84%), and group deliberation (100%). Supporting factors include the availability of yard land (96%) and strong group cohesion (88%), while inhibiting factors consist of limited capital (68%), uneven technical knowledge (76%), unstable water supply during the dry season (52%), pest and disease attacks (64%), and limited market access (40%). The study also shows that the P2L program contributes to improved household food security, including increased availability of fresh vegetables (92%), reduced household food expenditure (88%), diversified food consumption (84%), and year-round food stability (88%). In addition, the program enhances household economic independence through savings, opportunities for product sales (76%), increased entrepreneurial motivation (80%), and improved welfare expectations (84%). Therefore, program sustainability should integrate P2L with micro-enterprise development and strengthen cross-sector collaboration in agriculture, cooperatives, and trade to maximize economic value added.

Abstract

This study provides an overview of consumer preferences and behavior in consuming durian, both in fresh and processed forms, which are influenced by various product and service attributes. The objective of this research is to analyze the characteristics and purchasing behavior of consumers at Durian Jambi By_Reza in Jambi City. The method used in this study is a survey of consumers who have previously made purchases. This business was established in 2021 by Reza, relying on direct supply from local farmers and marketing through both a physical outlet and social media. The results show that most consumers prefer durian priced below IDR 50,000 per fruit, with a preference for medium-sized durians, greenish-yellow in color, and having a sweet and rich taste, along with fast and friendly service. Service is the most important factor influencing purchasing decisions, with an importance value of 36.13%, followed by taste (17.33%), color (16.50%), size (15.23%), and price (14.80%). In addition, consumers perceive the outlet as clean, with prompt and friendly service and a comfortable atmosphere. The conjoint analysis results indicate that the best combination of attributes achieved the highest score of 3.18, while the lowest score was 2.67. The Pearson’s R correlation (0.990) and Kendall’s Tau (0.877) show a very strong relationship between observed and estimated consumer preferences. The model is also significant (0.000 < 0.05), indicating that it can accurately predict consumer preferences

Abstract

. In Lapandan Village, Makale District, tempeh entrepreneurs such as Jeslyn Tempeh Business face various challenges in maintaining and developing their business amidst increasingly dynamic changes in consumer preferences. One of the main problems faced is the lack of a structured marketing strategy based on consumer data, so that the tempeh products offered are less attractive to the wider market. In addition, product promotion is still carried out conventionally through limited distribution channels without the use of digital media and without paying attention to the characteristics of the target market segment. The type of research used SWOT analysis in this study is used to identify internal and external factors that influence the development of the tempeh business, as a basis for developing a strategy based on consumer preferences. The results of the study Based on the SWOT analysis, the IFAS value of 3.56 and EFAS of 3.36 places Jeslyn Tempeh Business in Quadrant I (SO-Aggressive Strategy), which means it has high strengths and opportunities. The most appropriate strategy is to utilize internal strengths to capture external opportunities, through product innovation, digital promotions, expansion of distribution networks, and partnerships with local business actors. The SO strategy is the primary choice for increasing business growth and competitiveness, as it strengthens Tempe Jeslyn's market position and supports the sustainable development of local food

Abstract

Stock investment offers profit opportunities but also involves risk due to price fluctuations that create uncertainty in returns. This risk is relevant for palm oil sector stocks on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, which are sensitive to global CPO price dynamics, trade policies, exchange rates, and global economic conditions, leading to relatively high volatility. This study aims to measure the potential maximum loss that may occur using Value at Risk (VaR) based on Monte Carlo simulation. VaR measurement is conducted on five issuers (SMAR, LSIP, AALI, ANJT, and SGRO) with 1,000 iterations and confidence levels of 95%, 97.5%, and 99%. The results show that at all confidence levels, LSIP stock consistently has the highest risk, with the largest VaR values of −52.01% at the 95% confidence level, −61.98% at the 97.5% confidence level, and −73.56% at the 99% confidence level, while AALI stock shows the lowest risk with relatively small VaR values of −2.6% at the 95% confidence level, −3.11% at the 97.5% confidence level, and −3.7% at the 99% confidence level. These findings indicate that Monte Carlo VaR can provide an overview of the investment loss boundary and support more rational and measurable investment decision-making in palm oil stocks.
