Abstract

Literacy is a key foundation in basic education because it plays a crucial role in developing students' academic skills, reasoning, and social participation. Countries with high literacy achievements demonstrate that this success is inseparable from educational policies and learning approaches implemented from the elementary school level. This article aims to analyze and compare literacy approaches at the elementary school level in Japan and Finland, two countries frequently used as international references in educational studies. This research uses a qualitative approach with conceptual articles through literature review and comparative analysis of scientific journals, international agency reports, and relevant and up-to-date education policy documents. The analysis shows that Japan implements a structured, systematic, and habit-oriented literacy approach through a centralized national curriculum, while Finland develops literacy through a more flexible approach that emphasizes teacher autonomy, student well-being, and holistic literacy. Despite differing implementation strategies, both countries place literacy as a priority in their basic education policies. This article emphasizes that literacy success does not depend on a single model, but rather on the alignment between policies, learning practices, and the educational context of each country. These conceptual findings are expected to enrich the study of basic education literacy and serve as a reference for developing literacy policies in other educational contexts.

Abstract

Pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam dan Sosial (IPAS) di sekolah dasar sering kali menghadapi tantangan dalam menyesuaikan perbedaan kemampuan dan gaya belajar peserta didik. Kondisi tersebut berdampak pada rendahnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa terhadap fenomena sosial dan lingkungan sekitar. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan e-modul berdiferensiasi berbasis Problem Based Learning (PBL) sebagai media pembelajaran inovatif yang mampu meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas V. Penelitian ini menggunakan model pengembangan 4-D (Define, Design, Develop, dan Disseminate) dengan subjek penelitian meliputi ahli materi, ahli desain, ahli bahasa, satu guru, dan 20 peserta didik kelas V SDN 22 Panai Hulu. Teknik pengumpulan data mencakup validasi ahli, observasi, angket, dan tes kemampuan berpikir kritis. Analisis data dilakukan melalui perhitungan persentase kelayakan, uji normalitas Shapiro–Wilk, uji homogenitas Levene, serta uji efektivitas menggunakan independent sample t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa e-modul berdiferensiasi berbasis PBL dinyatakan sangat layak oleh ahli materi (rata-rata 93%), ahli desain (rata-rata 90%), dan ahli bahasa (rata-rata 87%). Uji efektivitas menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05, menandakan bahwa e-modul efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Uji praktikalitas oleh guru memperoleh skor 83% (sangat praktis), sedangkan oleh peserta didik mencapai 89,7% (sangat praktis). Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa e-modul berdiferensiasi berbasis PBL tidak hanya layak dan praktis, tetapi juga efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Implikasi penelitian ini memperkuat pentingnya integrasi pembelajaran berdiferensiasi dengan model berbasis masalah untuk menciptakan pembelajaran yang adaptif, interaktif, dan bermakna di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of deep learning models, particularly ChatGPT, in detecting errors in students’ mathematical problem-solving processes and to compare automated assessment results with manual assessment conducted by lecturers. The research employed a quantitative descriptive-comparative approach involving 37 first-semester university students in a mathematics education program. Data were collected through written essay tests on plane geometry topics, questionnaires, and documentation. The written responses were assessed manually by lecturers and automatically by ChatGPT, focusing on conceptual, procedural, and computational errors. Data analysis used descriptive statistics and comparative analysis to examine score differences and consistency between the two assessment methods. The results show that the average score differences between manual assessment and ChatGPT assessment were relatively small, ranging from 0.4 to 4.5 points, indicating a high level of accuracy and consistency of the automated system. ChatGPT demonstrated advantages in efficiency, objectivity, and speed of assessment, while manual assessment remained superior in interpreting implicit reasoning and contextual understanding. These findings suggest that ChatGPT has strong potential as an automated assessment tool to support mathematics educators, particularly in identifying student error patterns systematically, although human judgment is still necessary for comprehensive pedagogical interpretation.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of teachers in instilling tolerance through Pancasila and Citizenship Education (PPKn) instruction for seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan. The background of this research is based on the importance of character education in building values of tolerance in a school environment characterized by religious diversity. In this context, teachers play a strategic role not only as instructors but also as role models, mentors, and facilitators in shaping students' social attitudes.This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research informants consisted of the principal, PPKn teacher, guidance counselor, vice principal, and seventh-grade students. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing.The results show that teachers play an active role in instilling tolerance through role models, reinforcement of Pancasila values, and the use of contextual and participatory learning methods. Challenges faced by teachers include the influence of the external environment, stereotypes among students, and time constraints during the learning process. As a solution, teachers implement a dialogical approach, collaborative activities, and collaboration with the school and parents.Thus, the role of teachers is crucial in creating an inclusive and harmonious school climate. Instilling an attitude of tolerance not only impacts social relationships between students but also serves as a foundation for developing the character of citizens who value diversity.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major health problem in Indonesia. Self-efficacy is a key factor in shaping maternal nutritional behavior, which impacts child development. This study aims to analyze the relationship between maternal self-efficacy and the incidence of stunting in children aged 6-59 months in the Plumbon Community Health Center (Puskesmas) work area. This study used an observational analytical case-control design. The sample consisted of mothers with children aged 6-59 months. The total sample size for the case and control groups was 48, resulting in a total sample size of 96. Child nutritional status was measured based on the height/age z-score using the anthrocalc application. A height/age z-score <-2.0 SD was interpreted as stunting, while a height/age z-score ≥-2 SD +2 SD was interpreted as the control group. The minimum, maximum, median, and mean z-scores in the stunting group were -3.10, -2.00, -2.10, and -2.27 SD, respectively, while in the control group they were -0.90, +3.40, -1.30, and -0.83 SD, respectively. Maternal self-efficacy was measured using the GSE-12 questionnaire. The research data were tested using the Chi-square test. A p-value ≤ 0.05 indicates a significant relationship.The analysis results showed no significant relationship between maternal self-efficacy and the incidence of stunting in children aged 6-59 months in the Plumbon Community Health Center (PHC) work area (p > 0.05). Maternal self-efficacy in the low, moderate, and high stunting groups was 8 (16.67%), 36 (75%), and 4 (8.33%), respectively. In the control group, it was 4 (8.3%), 39 (81.3%), and 5 (10.4%). The conclusion of this study is that there is no significant relationship between maternal self-efficacy and the incidence of stunting in children aged 6-59 months in the Plumbo Community Health Center work area.

Abstract

The development of the digital era has had a significant impact on people's mindsets and lifestyles, which indirectly influence the appreciation of the spiritual and moral values ​​of Muslims. Modern lifestyles that tend to be materialistic pose a serious challenge in maintaining religious exemplars in society. Therefore, strengthening the exemplary values ​​of the Prophet, Apostles, and the Wali Allah is important as an effort to develop Islamic faith and character. This study aims to describe the understanding and application of the exemplary values ​​of the Prophet (ṣhiddiq, amanah, tablīgh, and fathonah) and the exemplary values ​​of the Wali Allah (zuhud, ikhlas, taqwa, and social concern) in the Jama'ah Majelis Taklim Al-Mujahidin, Gantar. The study used a descriptive qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with three selected informants, and documentation. The results show that these exemplary values ​​are not only understood conceptually, but also practiced in daily life, both within the family and community. In conclusion, the majelis taklim (Islamic study groups) plays a strategic role in instilling exemplary values ​​that can strengthen faith and shape the Islamic character of the congregation amidst the challenges of modernization. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the problem-based learning (e-module) model on mathematics learning on addition and subtraction of fractions for fifth-grade elementary school students at SD Negeri 129 Palembang. This study employed a research design that included definition, planning, and development. Data analysis included validity analysis, practical analysis, and effectiveness analysis. The results showed a significant effect of the use of the e-module on addition and subtraction of fractions for fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 129 Palembang. The three analyses showed that the e-module on addition and subtraction of fractions for fifth-grade students was highly valid, very practical, and very effective. Abstract

In the modern era, parents face serious challenges in providing religious education and character development for children. The declining involvement of children in religious activities at mosques, prayer rooms, and madrasah diniyyah, along with excessive use of technology, has contributed to the erosion of character values such as discipline, empathy, and respect. Therefore, integrating a local content curriculum with a Qur’an memorization (tahfidz Al-Qur’an) program has become a strategic solution implemented by Islamic educational institutions. This study examines the implementation of a tahfidz Al-Qur’an program as an effort to develop Islamic character among male ninth-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Darul Fikri Bringin Kauman Ponorogo. The objectives of this study are to describe the implementation process of the tahfidz Al-Qur’an program and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research employed a qualitative approach and was conducted at Darul Fikri Islamic Boarding School, Bringin Kauman, Ponorogo, in January 2024. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was carried out using an interactive analysis model consisting of data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the implementation of the tahfidz Al-Qur’an program contributes to the formation of students’ Islamic character, including sound faith (aqidah shahihah), noble character (akhlakul karimah), tolerance, discipline, and consistency in worship. The program is implemented through an initial student selection process, the use of muraja’ah, rabth, and ziyadah methods, and the establishment of memorization targets at each educational level. Continuous evaluation is conducted through tasmi’, istimrar ayat, and monthly lajnah. Supporting factors include students’ motivation, individual abilities, and a conducive boarding school environment, while inhibiting factors require ongoing attention.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the CPS (Creative Problem Solving) learning model on students' problem solving abilities in Mathematics subjects of class V SD Negeri 98 Palembang. This study uses the Quantitative Non-Equivalent Control Group Design method. The independent variables in this study are the CPS (Creative Problem Solving) learning model and the dependent variable is students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The sample in this study used two classes selected using the Saturated Sampling Technique at SD Negeri 98 Palembang. The data analysis methods used in this study are Validity Test, Reliability Test, Normality Test, Homogeneity Test, and Intenpendent Sample T-Test. Data Processing Results Show the Average Posttest of the Experimental Class is 81.07 and the Control Class is 44.64. In Hypothesis Testing, t count> t table or 0.05> 000 is obtained, Based on the Independent Sample T-Test Test in this study, the Sig (2-Tailed) value is 0.000 <0.05, so it can be concluded that the significant value is smaller than 0.05, then Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, there is a significant difference between classes using the CPS learning model and conventional learning models.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of limited learning time allocation on elementary school students' science learning outcomes. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) by examining relevant previous research results in the 2015–2025 time frame. Data were obtained from various scientific databases such as Google Scholar, ERIC, and ResearchGate using the keywords learning time allocation, science learning outcomes, and elementary education. The results of the study show that limited learning time has a significant effect on the quality of science learning outcomes, especially in terms of students' mastery of scientific concepts and critical thinking skills. Limited learning time prevents experiments, observations, and reflections from being carried out optimally. The effectiveness of learning does not only depend on the length of time but also on the teaching strategies and time management applied by teachers. The application of innovative learning methods such as generative strategies, project-based learning, and efficient time management has been proven to improve learning outcomes even under time constraints. These findings emphasize the importance of effective time management and adaptive learning planning to improve the quality of science learning in elementary schools
