Abstract

This article examines the effect of the application of circuit-based games on the improvement of basic locomotor movement skills in elementary school students. The study used a quasi experimental design with the One Group Pretest Posttest model. The subject of the study is a fourth grade student of SDN Gampingrowo 2 The instruments used included tests of locomotor motion ability (zig-zag running, obstacle jumping, and long jump without prefix). The results showed a significant improvement in students' locomotor movement ability after circuit game treatment. These findings corroborate that circuit games are an effective, fun, and structured approach to improve basic locomotor movement skills in the context of elementary school PJOK learning.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the use of flannel media in improving early reading skills among first-grade students at MI Raudlatul Hasan. The research is based on the low early literacy levels of students and the limited use of concrete media that align with the learning characteristics of young children. A descriptive qualitative method was employed through observations, interviews, and documentation involving the first-grade teacher and students. The findings show that thematically and multisensorily designed flannel media can attract students’ attention and support experiential learning. Cognitively, the media helps students recognize letters, distinguish phonemic sounds, and construct simple syllables and words. Affectively, students appear more motivated, confident, and actively engaged. The flannel media also fosters an enjoyable and collaborative learning atmosphere. The study concludes that flannel media is effective in enhancing early reading abilities while strengthening students’ emotional engagement, and recommends the use of similar multisensory media in early reading instruction at the elementary school level.

Abstract

The changes in the mindset and habits of today’s young generation cannot be separated from the rapid advancement of technology and the powerful wave of globalization. On one hand, the ease of access to information enhances knowledge and learning opportunities, yet on the other hand, it brings new challenges—namely, the decline of moraland spiritual values. Students are gradually losing their Islamic identity, as reflected in the decreasing respect towardteachers, weakening social responsibility, and the rise of individualistic attitudes. In such circumstances, Islamic education plays a vital role in reviving the noble values derived from the Qur’an and Sunnah. The purpose of this article is to examine various approaches that can be applied to strengthen Islamic character within both formal and non-formal educational settings. The study employs a library research method, by reviewing and analyzing relevantliterature. The findings indicate that two of the most effective methods in shaping Islamic character among studentsare role modeling (uswah hasanah) and the habituation of good behavior. Furthermore, character formation is reinforced through the integration of Islamic principles across all subjects and social activities, as well as the establishment of a religious and supportive school environment. This study concludes that the reinforcement of Islamic character requires continuous collaboration among schools, families, and communities. With Islamic values as thefoundation, consistent and well-coordinated efforts will lead to the development of a Muslim generation that is morally upright, highly principled, and well-prepared to face the challenges of the modern era.

Abstract

This article explores the condition of Islamic education in Indonesia during the Dutch colonial period, focusing on its dynamics, policies, and the role of key Islamic education figures in preserving religious and national identity. At that time, Islamic education faced pressure from a colonial system oriented toward Westernization and Christianization. Nevertheless, pesantren, madrasah, and surau remained independent centers of learning rooted in Islamic values. This study employs a qualitative approach through literature review to trace the social history of Islamic education in Indonesia, including analysis of colonial policies, emerging educational institutions, and the contributions of prominent figures such as KH. Agus Salim, Hj. Rangkayo Rasuna Said, and Ki Hajar Dewantara. The findings reveal that Islamic education persisted and developed despite colonial suppression, serving as a vital foundation for the struggle for independence and the shaping of national character.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the form of village community participation in the public policy process, the challenges faced by the village government in encouraging community participation in the public policy process, and the influence of village community participation in the public policy process in Gelugur Plantation Village, Salapian District, Langkat Regency. Where Gelugur Plantation Village, Salapian District, Langkat Regency, is one of the villages that handles issues regarding the Village Decision. As a village with a fairly dense population and diverse community backgrounds. Where the selected community has diverse characteristics, such as farmers, traders and other workers. The research method used is qualitative descriptive research with data collection through observation, interviews, documentation. The research location was carried out in Gelugur Plantation Village, Salapian District, Langkat Regency. In this study, the informants used were the village head and 15 community members. Using data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and data verification. In this research, high community participation makes village policies more targeted, easier to implement, and gain broad support from residents, where community participation has a very important role in determining the quality and success of public policies in the village. Community participation is seen through their active involvement in deliberations at the hamlet level to village deliberations, providing proposals for development programs, and implementing activities through mutual cooperation and cooperation in physical development and community empowerment. However, the village government still faces several obstacles in encouraging more optimal participation, such as the low understanding of some residents regarding policy mechanisms, the level of community busyness in daily work, and limited information received by the community regarding village assistance rules and procedures.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kondisi lingkungan sekolah yang kurang terawat karena lemahnya kesadaran warga sekolah dalam menjaga kebersihan lingkungan di era modern. Bahkan, potensi terciptanya lingkungan sekolah yang bersih dan sehat sangat besar karena semua siswa tinggal di Pondok Pesantren. Persepsi bahwa kebersihan hanya tanggung jawab petugas kebersihan terbukti ketika petugas kebersihan selesai melakukan pekerjaannya dan sampah berserakan lagi. Penelitian ini mengungkapkan pentingnya menanamkan pendidikan karakter serta upaya menganalisis strategi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi kebersihan lingkungan sekolah, serta mengukur efektivitas pengelolaan kebersihan di SMP Ar Rahmat Majalengka. Metode yang digunakan adalah penelitian lapangan dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif, yang berfokus pada pemahaman fenomena sosial dari sudut pandang pelaku. Data diperoleh dari sumber primer dan sekunder melalui teknik observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi pengelolaan lingkungan di SMP ar Rahmat Majalengka telah diimplementasikan dengan baik. Sekolah melakukan sosialisasi kepada seluruh siswa, memasang media poster yang ditempatkan di berbagai area sekolah untuk menyampaikan pesan pentingnya menjaga kebersihan kepada siswa, membuat slogan yang mudah diingat oleh siswa. Selain itu, mahasiswa dilibatkan dalam kegiatan bersih-bersih melalui pembentukan tim adiwiyata, piket umum, piket kelas, Jumat bersih, bank sampah, pengomposan dan kantin sehat. Upaya ini efektif dalam meningkatkan kesadaran mahasiswa akan pentingnya menjaga lingkungan yang bersih, hijau, sejuk, dan nyaman.

Rahma S. Kadir. Pedagogical strategies in overcoming learning barriers in developing areas (Case Study of SDN 21 Biau). Thesis, Elementary School Teacher Education, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Madako University. Supervisor 1 Hamna, Supervisor 2 Hasia Marto. This study aims to describe teachers' pedagogical strategies in overcoming learning obstacles and their effectiveness in improving the quality of learning at SDN 21 Biau. The method used was descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, namely through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that teachers at SDN 21 Biau apply various adaptive pedagogical strategies to overcome limited facilities and infrastructure, such as the unavailability of internet, lack of books, and the school's geographical conditions which are prone to flooding. Teachers implement a contextual and constructivist approach by utilizing the surrounding environment as a learning resource, using lecture methods, questions and answers, storytelling, and giving assignments that are relevant to students' lives. This strategy has proven effective in increasing student engagement, motivation, and understanding, even in limited learning conditions. Thus, teachers' pedagogical strategies at SDN 21 Biau are able to create meaningful learning and foster students' enthusiasm for learning in developing areas.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Three-Tier Multiple Choice diagnostic instrument on whole number material for fourth-grade elementary school students as an effort to identify and map student misconceptions more accurately. The study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the Borg & Gall development model modified into six stages, namely preliminary study, product planning and design, expert validation, small-scale trials, field trials, and product refinement. The research subjects involved fourth-grade elementary school students in small-scale and large-scale trials and teachers as respondents for the practicality of the instrument. The instrument developed consisted of 20 Three-Tier Multiple Choice questions covering three levels, namely answers, reasons, and student confidence levels. Validation results by material, language, and evaluation experts showed that the instrument was in the very valid category with an average validity value of ≥ 0.93. Reliability tests in large-scale trials produced a reliability coefficient of > 0.895, which is included in the high category. The results of the practicality test showed that the instrument was easy to use and understand by both teachers and students. The results of the diagnostic test analysis showed that the instrument was able to identify categories of understanding, not understanding, and misconceptions of students, with the discovery of low, medium, and high misconceptions in several indicators of whole numbers. Thus, the developed Three-Tier Multiple Choice diagnostic instrument was declared valid, reliable, and practical, and effective for use as a teacher tool in identifying misconceptions and designing follow-up mathematics learning in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study reconstructs the concept of children’s post-birth rights from an Islamic perspective by positioning spiritual, educational, and humanitarian values as the foundational principles of early child upbringing. Departing from contemporary approaches that tend to emphasize legal and physical aspects while marginalizing spiritual dimensions, this research re-examines Islamic teachings through the classical text Tarbiyatul Athfāl. A qualitative library-based approach is employed, using thematic analysis within the framework of maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah. The findings demonstrate that children’s rights in Islam extend beyond physical care and legal recognition to encompass the cultivation of spiritual consciousness, moral character, and human dignity from birth. Spiritual values are embedded in practices such as the recitation of the adhan, tahnik, giving meaningful names, and performing aqiqah, which function as early internalization of monotheism and Islamic identity. Educational values are reflected in parenting based on role modeling, affection, and continuous moral habituation. Meanwhile, humanitarian values emphasize protection, welfare, and respect for children as dignified human beings. This reconstruction affirms that Islamic teachings provide a holistic and integrative framework for safeguarding children’s post-birth rights and remain highly relevant in addressing contemporary challenges in child education and upbringing.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of moral and social values in the animated film Jumbo and analyze its relevance to the character development of elementary school students. In addition, this study explains the potential use of this film as a medium for reflecting on values in learning. The research method used is qualitative with content analysis and documentation techniques through in-depth observation of the storyline, scenes, dialogue, and visual symbols in Ryan Adriandhy's film Jumbo. The results show that the film Jumbo represents five main values, namely courage, empathy, friendship, responsibility, and self-confidence. These values are conveyed through the dynamics of Don's conflicts and his interactions with other characters, which are relevant to the moral and social development needs of elementary school students. This film has strong potential as a medium for reflection through targeted screening strategies, reflective discussions, and follow-up activities such as mini-dramas and reflective journals. Thus, the film Jumbo not only serves as entertainment but also as a medium for learning contextual, interesting, and easily integrated character values in elementary education.
