Abstract

Kabupaten Mesuji has many rivers, canals, reservoirs, and swamps that can be utilized as facilities for the development of fisheries. However, the level of fish production still relies on catches, which can result in reducing the availability and population of fish. The objective of this research is to create a master plan for establishing a center for local fish seed and broodstock production, considering the land suitability in Buko Poso Village, Way Serdang Sub-district, Mesuji District, Lampung Province. Field observation activities include in-situ and ex-situ water quality measurements at four observation stations, soil sampling at five points with three. The results of the soil texture analysis using the soil triangle indicate clay-textured soil. The suitable species for cultivation include Asian Redtail Catfish, Striped Snakehead, Clown Knifefish, Hoven's Carp, and Nile Tilapia. Infrastructure that can be built includes filter tank ponds, wastewater treatment plants, hatcheries, nursery ponds, broodstock maintenance ponds, breeding ponds, and other supporting facilities.

Abstract

There are several obstacles for dumbo catfish farmers that result in losses, one of which is disease.  Diseases caused by parasitic infections can cause irritation to external organs such as gills and skin. This can cause disruption of respiration and osmoregulation processes and reduce fish immunity.   The population of ectoparasites in fish in the aquatic environment can be monitored through the identification of parasites by calculating their prevalence and intensity.  This study aims to identify ectoparasites, analyze the prevalence rate, intensity of ectoparasite attacks that attack dumbo catfish.  Sampling for 5 times in one week for 20 working days with the number of samples to be obtained as much as the catch of 3 stations.  Ectoparasites found in dumbo catfish are Dactylogyrus sp, Trichodina sp, Chilodonella sp, and Oodinium sp. The highest prevalence value was found in Dactylogyrus sp at station III with a percentage of 100% with a very frequent infection category. The highest intensity value was Trichodina sp. at station II which was 24.4 individuals/head with moderate category. The dominating ectoparasite was Dactylogyrus sp. The number of infected dumbo catfish was 30 out of 30 samples tested.  In Dactylogyrus sp there were a total of 258 parasites, followed by Chilodonella sp with a total of 69 parasites from 30 samples, Oodinium sp had a total of 47 parasites and Trichodina sp had a total of 151 parasites from 30 samples.  Water quality parameters measured during the study showed good values for the growth of dumbo catfish in the rearing ponds.

Abstract

The production of aquaculture in East Kalimantan Province in 2023 was recorded at 162,124 tons. This data indicates that the need for fish feed (pellets) is also very large. Meanwhile, it is known that the price of feed continues to climb. This study aims to observe the effect of the use of palm kernel meal, as an alternative feed ingredient, which is fermented using EM4 with different doses on the activity of digestive enzymes and the growth of gourami fish weight. The doses of EM4 used were 0 mL/kg (P1), 4 mL/kg (P2), and 8 mL/kg (P3). Based on the results of the analysis of variance, it was known that the inclusion of fermented palm kernel meal significantly (P<0.05) affected activities of amylase, protease, and lipase enzymes. The highest value of digestive enzyme activity was observed in P2 which produced amylase enzyme activity of 6.31 U/mL, protease 0.46 U/mL, and lipase 0.38 U/mL, and then followed by P3 which produced amylase enzyme activity of 4.76 U/mL, protease 0.39 U/mL, and lipase 0.35 U/mL. The lowest value of activity was observed in gourami treated with P1 which produced amylase enzyme activity of 4.048 U/mL, protease 0.36 U/mL, and lipase 0.31 U/mL. Analysis of variance also showed that fermented palm kernel meal had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the weight growth of giant gourami. The highest weight gain was produced by P3 (2.16 g), then followed by P2 (1.79 g), and P1 (1.21 g). The best feed conversion was produced by P2 (2.32), followed by P3 (2.94), and P1 (3.28).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of adding pineapple peel flour (Ananas comosus) at different doses on the number of lactic acid bacteria in the intestine, growth and utilization of tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) fry feed. A Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments with three replications was used in this research, namely the addition of pineapple peel flour at doses of 0%, 10%, 20% and 30% in the feed. Tilapia fish fry with an average weight of 8,27±0,36 g were reared in a 30 L aquarium with 13 fish each for 30 days, with feeding three times a day according to treatment. ad satiation. The results showed that the addition of pineapple peel flour at a dose of 10-30% increased the number of lactic acid bacteria in the intestines of tilapia fry, higher than at a dose of 0% (P<0.05), namely around 4.10-4.17 log CFU/ mL. A dose of 20% pineapple peel flour in the feed resulted in the highest weight growth, specific growth rate, feed efficiency level and protein efficiency ratio compared to other treatments (P<0.05), each at 14.56 g; 2.88 %/day; 77%; and 2.41%. This shows that pineapple peel flour has potential as a feed additive in tilapia cultivation.

Abstract

Tilapia fish (Oreochromis niloticus) has advantages for cultivation compared to several other freshwater fish However, the high price of fish feed causes the costs incurred by fish farmers to increase, therefore it is necessary to look for alternative feed ingredients. One of the ingredients for alternative feed that is abundant, high quality and easy to obtain is Palm Kernel Meal (PKM). The purpose of this research was to analyze the nutritional value of artificial feed made from palm kernel cake as the main ingredient fermented using EM4 with different concentrations and to analyze its effect on feed conversion, absolute weight growth and daily growth rate of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 treatments and 4 replicates each. The treatments applied were unfermented palm kernel meal (P1), fermented palm kernel meal with a concentration of 4 ml/kg (P2), and fermented palm kernel meal with a concentration of 8 ml/kg (P3). The results of the proximate analysis of the feed showed that the protein content of the feed was 30.37 %, 30.17 % and 30.87 % for P1, P2 and P3 respectively. Meanwhile, the lipid content of feed P1, P2, and P3 is 3.00%, 9.04%, and 8.54% respectively. Another finding in this research was that the highest growth was produced by treatment P3 (46.33 g) and this was followed by treatments P2 (41.25 g) and P1 (36.68 g). Meanwhile, the calculation results showed that the best feed conversion ratio was produced by treatment P3 (2.13) and then followed by P2 (2.34) and P1 (2.78). An increase in feed lipid content which causes an increase in feed energy content is thought to increase the efficiency of protein use to support growth and reduce the feed conversion ratio value.

Abstract

Jelawat fish (Leptobarbus hoevenii Blkr.) is one of the fish that is in great demand by the public. This production has problems with the body shape of fish fry which has many asymmetries and abnormalities. The cause of this cannot be ascertained, but the assumption is due to the influence of high pressure and water currents. For this reason, there needs to be clear research so that the exact cause is known. This study aims to see the fluctuations of asymmetry and abnormality in jelawat fish (L. hoeveni Blkr.) as a result of semi-intensive spawning. This research method is a sampling method on fish from semi-intensive spawning that is 2-3 cm in size. Then meristic measurements were taken and asymmetric fluctuations and abnormalities were calculated. The results of the study found that the value of number asymmetric fluctuations (FAn) ranged from 0.451 to 0. 864, while the magnitude asymmetric fluctuation (FAm) ranges from -0.044-0.053. For an abnormality of 1.05%, absolute length growth of 3.15 cm/head, absolute weight growth of 0.55 grams/head and survival rate of jellyfish larvae 99.5%.%, The results of water quality measurements were temperature range from 26-28.1oC, pH 6.7-7, dissolved oxygen of 4.7-5.3 mg/L, carbon dioxide of 5.3-8 mg/L and ammonia content in maintenance water of 0.001-0.011.

Abstract

The increasing trend in catfish production is accompanied by an increase in feed requirements and prices. This will result in the high cost of catfish production. One of the savings solutions can be done by reducing labour costs with the use of semi-automatic feeders. This study aims to analyse labour productivity in feeding methods using semi-automatic feeders and manual feeding in catfish rearing. The treatments in this study were manual feeding pond (A) and semi-automatic feeder pond (B), each with 3 replicates. Catfish with a weight of 3.4 ± 0.82 g and length of 7.8 ± 0.65 cm were reared in a pond measuring 8 m x 12 m x 0.65 m with a stocking density of 481 fish/m3. During 83 days of rearing, the fish were fed three times a day. The feeder machine sprayed feed at a speed of 16 g/sec. Growth data were taken five times in 83 days of rearing. The results showed that the parameters of survival rate (TKH), absolute growth rate of length (LPMP), and absolute growth rate of weight (LPMB) had a significant effect, while the amount of feed consumption (JKP), feed conversion ratio (RKP), and total harvest showed no difference in catfish farming. Based on labour productivity indicators, catfish farming with semi-automatic feeders has higher productivity

Abstract

Amphilopus trimaculatus (Louhan in Indonesia) is a freshwater ornamental fish that is famous among the public because it is believed to bring good luck to its owner, so it has a fairly high selling price. Keeping flowerhorn fish requires food so that the fish can grow well. This research aims to analyze the nutritional value of artificial feed made from palm kernel meal which is fermented using EM4 for different lengths of time and to analyze its effect on the growth and feed conversion ratio of flowerhorn fish. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments applied were P1 not fermented, P2 fermented for 3 days, P3 fermented for 5 days and P4 fermented for 7 days. The fish used in this study had an initial length of 3-5 cm and an initial weight of 1.5-2 g. Fish were kept for 40 days in aquariums measuring 30×30×40 cm using a recirculation system. Each aquarium is filled with 20 liters of water with a stocking density of 10 fish/aquarium. Fish were fed 3 times a day using ad-satiation. The results of the proximate nutritional analysis of the feed showed that the protein content of the feed was 32.53%, 35.97%, 37.31% and 36.31% for P1, P2, P3 and P4 respectively. The feed fat content was 6.19%, 7.26%, 6.38% and 7.44% for P1, P2, P3 and P4 respectively. Data analysis was carried out using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with a confidence level of 95% and continued with the Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The best fish growth performance and feed conversion ratio were achieved by P2, although statistically there was no significant difference in fish growth (P<0.05) but had a significant effect on the feed conversion ratio (P>0.05).
