Abstract

Learning interest is an important aspect that supports the success of the learning process. At the junior high school level, students tend to require engaging, interactive learning media that align with their cognitive development to foster learning interest. This study aimed to develop animated video learning media using Powtoon software on the theme Changes in the State of Matter and to analyze its level of validity as a learning medium that can enhance students’ learning interest. The media was developed by combining visual elements, animation, and simple narration to make the material more appealing and easier to understand. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE development model, limited to the first three stages: analysis, design, and development. Validation was conducted by subject matter experts, media experts, and instructional practitioners. The validation results showed that the media achieved a validity score of 89.2%, categorized as “very valid.” These findings indicate that the developed animated video has the potential to serve as an effective alternative learning medium. However, since it has not yet been tested directly in a school environment, its implementation in the classroom still requires further trials to evaluate its effectiveness in increasing junior high school students’ learning interest.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and students’ learning independence in Science subjects among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 48 Samarinda. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational method. The sample consisted of 100 students selected using stratified random sampling from a total population of 128 students. Data was collected using a closed-ended questionnaire based on a Likert scale. The data analysis techniques included normality testing, linearity testing, and Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results showed that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum was categorized as "Very Good" with a percentage score of 81.60%, while students’ learning independence was categorized as "Good" with a percentage score of 79.77%. The correlation test indicated a positive and significant relationship between the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and students' learning independence, with a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.685 and a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05). Additionally, the coefficient of determination showed that the Merdeka Curriculum contributed 46.90% to students' learning independence. These findings suggest that the more optimally the Merdeka Curriculum is implemented, the higher the level of students' learning independence. This research is expected to serve as a reference for teachers and school stakeholders in enhancing the quality of science learning that fosters student independence.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Climate Kids website as a learning medium on the scientific literacy skills of junior high school students on global warming material. This study was conducted at Yappida Islamic Junior High School with a sample of 30 students in each experimental class and control class. This research method used a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. This study concluded that the use of the Climate Kids website as a learning medium had an effect on the scientific literacy skills of junior high school students regarding global warming material. The results showed that the learning process had been carried out very well. The Mann-Whitney test was used to test the hypothesis and obtained a Sig. (2-tailed) result of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating the rejection of H₀ and acceptance of H₁, with the interpretation of a significant effect. The average pretest score of 39.87 increased to 80.47 in the posttest, indicating that the experimental class achieved an N-Gain score of 67.52% with a fairly effective criterion. The significant influence of the Climate Kids website as a learning tool on scientific literacy skills is evident from the effect size test, which yielded a result of 1.219, a high effect criterion. Furthermore, students responded very positively to the use of the Climate Kids website as a learning tool. This indicates that the Climate Kids website has a significant influence on students' scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

The low level of students’ ecoliteracy and the limited use of relevant teaching materials in science subjects, particularly in environmental topics, serve as the background of this study. To address these issues, the E-Module PELITA: Pembelajaran Lingkungan Untuk Indonesia Tangguh, based on ecopedagogical approach was developed as an alternative solution to foster students’ ecoliteracy. The primary objective of this research was to examine the validity of the developed product and to assess students' responses toward the ecopedagogical-based E-Module PELITA as an effort to enhance ecoliteracy. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method by adapting the ADDIE development model, limited to three stages: Analyze, Design, and Development. Product validity testing was carried out through questionnaires administered to subject matter experts, media experts, and science teachers. Meanwhile, a small-scale trial was conducted to collect students’ responses through a questionnaire. The data were analyzed using both quantitative descriptive and qualitative approaches to provide insights into the feasibility and acceptance of the product. The findings revealed that the ecopedagogical-based E-Module PELITA achieved an overall validity level of 90.07%, categorized as “highly valid.” Specifically, assessments were provided by subject matter experts with an average score of 91.19%, media experts with 90.15%, and science teachers with 88.89%. In addition, students’ responses to the use of the module reached a score of 83.08%, categorized as “very well”.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the feasibility of student’s worksheet (LKM) for training students' argumentation skills in reaction rate material. The feasibility of LKM was reviewed in terms of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The type of research used was Research and Development (R&D) with a 4D development model by Thiagarajan with three stages, namely definition, design, and development. A limited trial was conducted in class XI-5 at SMAN 1 Singgahan Tuban. The analysis of the feasibility of the LKM from the validity aspect, as seen from the content and construct, yielded a mode score of 5 in the highly valid category. The practicality aspect of the LKM was seen from the percentage of student response questionnaires of 98.07% and student activity observation sheets of 95.67%, which were classified as highly practical. The effectiveness aspect was analyzed based on the increase in pretest and posttest scores for argumentation skills and learning outcomes, reviewed through a paired sample t-test analysis. Both had a P-Value (1-tailed) of 0.000, so the P-Value (1-tailed) < 0.005, leading to the rejection of H0 and acceptance of H1. Therefore, it can be concluded that LKM is suitable for use as a learning medium to train students' argumentation skills in reaction rate material.
