Abstract

The implementation of the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning model is considered capable of answering the challenges of 21st century learning, especially in early childhood education. This study aims to examine the effect of the STEAM model on children's science and language skills at Al Hakami Integrated Islamic Kindergarten. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design, involving two groups of early childhood children: an experimental group using the STEAM model and a control group with conventional learning. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and pretest and posttest tests, and analyzed using ANCOVA. The results showed that the STEAM model significantly improved children's science (R² = 0.403) and language (R² = 0.419) skills. This increase was reflected in the posttest score of the experimental group which was higher than the control group. These findings prove that STEAM-based learning is effective in developing children's cognitive and communication skills through a contextual and fun approach. This study recommends a broader implementation of STEAM in the PAUD curriculum to support holistic child development.

Abstract

This study is a qualitative research that seeks to examine the thoughts of Lahmuddin Nasution regarding ilm al-falak (astronomy) and its relevance to Islamic education. The data were obtained from Lahmuddin’s works, writings of other authors who have studied him, as well as interviews with his colleagues and students. The study finds that ilm al-falak is a field of knowledge that explores the trajectories of celestial bodies such as the sun, the moon, the stars, and other astronomical objects. In his discussion of ilm al-falak, Lahmuddin addresses the determination of prayer times and the methods for establishing the beginning of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr. Furthermore, ilm al-falak and Islamic education share a strong and essential connection. Without ilm al-falak, the objectives of Islamic education, namely worshipping Allah and fulfilling the role of khalifah, cannot be properly realized, because acts of worship require adherence to specific, divinely prescribed times. Likewise, its relevance extends to modern Islamic education through the integration of religious principles and scientific knowledge.

Abstract

Wirid Yasin is a community gathering conducted based on mutual agreement without any compulsion. This activity serves not only as a form of worship but also as a medium for seeking knowledge, strengthening social ties, and fostering communal solidarity. This study aims to explore in depth the implementation of Wirid Yasin and its implications for the moral character of the community, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors in shaping the morality of the people in Atu Sepit Hamlet, Ramung Musara Village, Gayo Lues Regency. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include field observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the regular and collective practice of Wirid Yasin has enhanced the spiritual awareness of the community, particularly among women. This activity has had a significant impact on moral development and the creation of social cohesion. Community members who participate sincerely and regularly demonstrate positive changes in attitudes and behavior. In contrast, those who are passive or attend without active participation show no significant behavioral change.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji penerapan tiga pilar deep learning; mindful, meaningful, dan joyful learning; dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) di SMA Negeri 2 Ungaran, mengetahui tantangan yang dihadapi guru, serta merumuskan strategi pengembangan untuk mengoptimalkan penerapan pendekatan tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatif, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan mindful learning menciptakan kesadaran penuh siswa dalam proses belajar melalui refleksi dan dzikir, meaningful learning mengaitkan materi PAI dengan konteks kehidupan nyata siswa sehingga pembelajaran menjadi bermakna, dan joyful learning menciptakan suasana belajar yang menyenangkan melalui metode pembelajaran variatif. Namun, para guru mengalami kendala seperti keterbatasan alokasi waktu, karakteristik siswa yang beragam serta adaptasi terhadap perubahan metode pembelajaran. Strategi pengembangan berupa pelatihan intensif, pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran terstruktur, peningkatan fasilitas pendukung, dan monitoring rutin menjadi kunci untuk mengatasi tantangan tersebut. Studi ini menyimpulkan bahwa pendekatan deep learning dapat meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran PAI secara menyeluruh, tidak hanya dari aspek kognitif tetapi juga karakter dan spiritual siswa, sehingga relevan untuk terus dikembangkan dalam konteks Kurikulum Merdeka.

Abstract

Insecurity is a psychological condition that can significantly hinder the development of self-confidence. This study aims to examine the implications of insecurity on students’ self-confidence. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews with selected participants. The data analysis process involved selecting, focusing, simplifying, abstracting, and transforming the information obtained. The findings reveal that insecurity manifests in various forms, such as persistent feelings of inferiority, low self-esteem, constant self-comparison with others, and heightened awareness of personal shortcomings when observing others’ strengths. These conditions lead students to perceive others as more capable, more attractive, or more easily loved, which in turn diminishes their own sense of worth and self-confidence. The study highlights the need for targeted interventions to help students build a positive self-concept and overcome the negative effects of insecurity.

Abstract

Multicultural schools are educational spaces steeped in ethnic, religious, cultural, and linguistic diversity, thus presenting a significant potential for conflict due to differences in values, stereotypes, prejudice, and cross-cultural miscommunication. This article aims to comprehensively examine conflict resolution strategies in multicultural schools in an effort to build understanding, tolerance, and harmony within diversity. This research uses a qualitative approach with library research methods, analyzing various scientific literature in the form of journal articles, books, and relevant and up-to-date educational policy documents. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques through the stages of data reduction, categorization, interpretation, and synthesis. The results of the study indicate that conflicts in multicultural schools generally stem from stereotypes, discrimination, value differences, and a lack of intercultural communication competency. Effective conflict resolution strategies include the application of restorative justice approaches, intercultural dialogue, mediation, win-win strategies, and strengthening cooperative learning. Furthermore, the integration of character education and multicultural education into the curriculum, supported by inclusive school policies and diversity-responsive leadership, has been shown to strengthen empathy, tolerance, and social cohesion. This article recommends strengthening multicultural education policies, improving educator competency, and fostering collaboration between schools, parents, and communities as a sustainable effort to create a peaceful and harmonious school environment amidst cultural diversity.

Abstract

Student discipline is a key factor in creating an effective learning climate in schools; however, violations of school regulations are still frequently observed, often due to weak self-control among adolescents. This study aims to examine the relationship between self-control and adherence to school rules among twelfth-grade students. A quantitative approach with a correlational design was employed. The sample comprised 102 students randomly selected from a population of 239. Data were collected using a closed-ended, Likert-scale questionnaire that had been validated and proven reliable. Data analysis was conducted using Pearson product-moment correlation with the assistance of SPSS software. The results revealed a significant positive relationship between self-control and student discipline in adhering to school rules (r = 0.557, p < 0.05), with self-control contributing 31.10% to the variance in student discipline. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening self-control development programs through counseling services and habituation of discipline in schools as strategic efforts to improve students’ compliance with school regulations.

Abstract

A phenomenon that has long existed yet remains rarely discussed within the educational sphere is the sandwich generation, referring to individuals who simultaneously bear the dual responsibility of supporting their parents and their children. This study aims to examine the relevance of Islamic religious education values depicted in the novel Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu to the experiences of the sandwich generation. The researcher employed a library research method combined with content analysis to explore the thematic elements embedded in the text. The findings reveal that the novel contains values such as devotion to parents, compassion, patience, and responsibility, which contribute to fostering positive understanding and emotional resilience amid the pressures faced by the sandwich generation. These values offer practical solutions for individuals in their productive years as they navigate the challenges of contemporary life. The study concludes that the Islamic educational values presented in J.S. Khairen’s Dompet Ayah Sepatu Ibu hold significant relevance to the phenomenon of the sandwich generation.

Abstract

Education is the primary foundation for developing good individuals and societies. In an era of increasing globalization and interconnectivity, education faces the challenge of managing the diversity of cultures, religions, and social backgrounds of students. The method for writing the research results of this review article begins with a gap analysis followed by the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses) method. The PRISMA method consists of five stages: 1) defining eligibility criteria, 2) determining information sources, 3) selecting data, 4) collecting data, and 5) collecting data. This curriculum emphasizes four main aspects. The results of the study indicate that a series of management processes are necessary to implement multicultural values education efforts to shape religious character in students in the school environment. These efforts are realized through education, because it is through education that a person's basic character, intellectual, and emotional abilities can be formed in viewing the surrounding reality. This can be interpreted as meaning that education is the process of transmitting culture and simultaneously learning societal norms, through specific methods, so that people acquire knowledge, understanding, and behaviors appropriate to their needs.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the characteristics and practices of religious servant leadership at MTsN 5 Klaten, focusing on how the principal integrates the values of service, exemplary conduct, and Islamic spirituality in daily leadership. A qualitative phenomenological approach was employed through observation, interviews, and documentation, with data validity tested using source and technique triangulation. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the principal practices religious servant leadership through consultation, empowerment of teachers and students, habitual worship, and exemplary attitudes of trustworthiness (amanah), wisdom (fathonah), and compassion. These practices are reflected in activities such as congregational prayers, Qur’an recitation, character development, and open communication that foster a humanistic school environment. Moreover, the principal responds to digital-era challenges, such as gadget misuse, with persuasive and educational approaches. The study concludes that religious servant leadership strengthens students’ spiritual character, enhances teacher performance, and builds a harmonious Islamic school culture.Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan karakteristik dan praktik kepemimpinan servant leadership religius di MTsN 5 Klaten, dengan fokus pada integrasi nilai pelayanan, keteladanan, dan spiritualitas Islam dalam kepemimpinan kepala madrasah. Pendekatan kualitatif fenomenologis digunakan melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi, dengan uji keabsahan data menggunakan triangulasi sumber dan teknik. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan model interaktif Miles dan Huberman yang meliputi reduksi, penyajian, serta penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepala madrasah menerapkan kepemimpinan pelayan religius melalui musyawarah, pemberdayaan guru dan siswa, pembiasaan ibadah, serta keteladanan dalam sikap amanah, fathonah, dan kasih sayang. Praktik ini tampak dalam kegiatan shalat berjamaah, tadarus Al-Qur’an, pembinaan karakter, dan komunikasi terbuka yang menumbuhkan suasana humanis. Selain itu, kepala madrasah responsif terhadap tantangan era digital dengan pendekatan persuasif dan edukatif. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa servant leadership religius memperkuat karakter spiritual, kinerja guru, dan budaya sekolah Islami.
