Abstract

Children's storytelling skills at TK Nurul Ilmi are still relatively low, characterized by a lack of courage and limited language in conveying a coherent storyline. This study aims to determine the improvement in children's storytelling skills before and after using local storybooks from North Sumatra. The study used Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a cyclical model consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 19 children from Group B of TK Nurul Ilmi, while the object was their storytelling skills through local storybooks. The research instrument used was an observation sheet compiled based on indicators of storytelling techniques and the instillation of cultural values. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive and quantitative methods to calculate the percentage of achievement in each stage of child development. Findings in Cycle I showed an increase in children's skills to 36% in the developing category as expected, but had not yet reached the success criteria. In Cycle II, this percentage reached 79% after integrating the tor-tor dance into the lesson. Teachers are advised to implement local culture-based storytelling methods combined with movement elements to create more interactive and meaningful learning

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using the number maze educational game tool (APE) on the development of mathematical logic intelligence in children aged 5-6 years at Nurul Ilmi IT Kindergarten. The main problem underlying this research is the low ability of children to recognize number symbols and solve simple numerical problems due to unvaried learning methods. The research method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design of the One-Group Pretes-Postes type. The research sample consisted of 15 children selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through structured observation sheets and analyzed using paired sample t-test. The results showed that the application of the number maze game had a significant effect on improving children's mathematical logic intelligence. This can be seen from the drastic increase in the average score of children's abilities after being given the intervention. This study recommends the use of number maze media as an effective alternative learning media to stimulate logical-mathematical thinking skills in early childhood education institutions.

Abstract

Digital content use among young children is rising rapidly in the Society 5.0 era, while its impact on expressive language remains debated. This article aims to synthesize evidence on the relationship between digital content, communication technology, and children’s expressive language development. The research is a library study using a narrative-integrative review approach that combines theoretical literature and empirical findings from the ERIC, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Garuda databases. Literature was purposively selected based on thematic relevance and analyzed using thematic analysis to build a coherent argument. The review is framed by three psychological lenses: developmental, social-emotional, and educational psychology. Findings show that passive content correlates negatively with expressive language through interaction displacement, whereas interactive, high-quality, adult-mediated media may support language development, with patterns differing by age group. The article recommends age-based content policies, strengthening ECCE teachers’ digital-pedagogical competencies, and integrating Islamic values.

Abstract

Early childhood social skills need improvement, particularly in children's confidence to interact, greet others, and demonstrate positive social behavior in the school environment. This study aimed to improve the social skills of children aged 5–6 years through the habituation of greetings, smiles, and salutations (3S) at TK IT Insan Madani. The study employed Classroom Action Research using the Kemmis and McTaggart model conducted in two cycles. The participants were 15 children in Group B aged 5–6 years, while the object of the study was children's social skills. Data were collected through observation and documentation and analyzed using quantitative and qualitative descriptive techniques. The findings showed an improvement in children's social skills from 48.3% in the pre-cycle stage to 66.7% in Cycle I and 81.7% in Cycle II. The 3S habituation was proven effective in enhancing children's social skills. Teachers are recommended to implement the 3S habituation consistently to support children's social development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the digital behavior of Early Childhood Education (PAUD) teachers on social media and to formulate a Digital Role Model framework as an effort to protect children’s privacy in cyberspace. The study employs a qualitative approach using library research and content analysis. The findings reveal three typologies of ECE teachers’ digital behavior: documentation of learning, educational posts, and content exploitation. The findings indicate that the publication of children’s visual content without valid informed consent from parents has the potential to violate professional ethics for teachers and contravene Law No. 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection. The novelty of this study lies in the integrative formulation of the Digital Role Model, which positions the protection of children’s personal data as a central component of PAUD teachers’ professionalism in the digital age. This framework is built through three operational dimensions: the ability to self-filter posts, a commitment to protecting children’s identities, and the use of social media as a tool for professional academic reflection. Implementation of the model is recommended through the development of strict Standard Operating Procedures for the publication of children’s content within early childhood education settings

Abstract

Early childhood education plays an important role in developing children’s religious and moral values; however, monotonous teaching methods often make children less interested in participating in the learning process. This study aims to describe the use of pictorial flashcard media in instilling religious and moral values in early childhood at RA Raudatul Ilmi Medan. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach involving teachers, the school principal, and children aged 5–6 years as the research subjects. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings showed that the use of pictorial flashcards helped children better understand positive behaviors such as greeting others, being honest, sharing with friends, and respecting teachers. Children also appeared more active, enthusiastic, and responsive during the learning process. Therefore, the consistent use of engaging visual media is recommended to support the development of religious and moral values in early childhood.
