Abstract

The lengser culture is one of the traditions rich in cultural and spiritual values among the Sundanese community. This tradition not only serves as part of customary ceremonies but also plays a significant role in shaping the identity and self-esteem of individuals within the community. This article aims to explore the psychological dynamics associated with the implementation of the lengser culture and how it contributes to enhancing self-esteem among the Sundanese people. The method used is qualitative research with in-depth interview techniques, involving key informants such as lengser artists, Sundanese cultural leaders, psychologists, and general community members. The results of this study indicate that participation in the lengser culture provides a sense of social attachment, recognition from the community, and a deeper understanding of cultural values, all of which positively contribute to individual self-esteem. Thus, the preservation of the lengser culture is not only important for the continuity of cultural heritage but also for the psychological well-being of the Sundanese community. These findings are expected to encourage further research and policies that support cultural preservation as a tool for improving community quality of life.

Abstract

There has been an increase in the prevalence of internet addiction among adolescents in recent years. It is known that self-control and attachment are protective factors against various maladaptive behaviors in adolescents. In middle adolescence, close friends become the main source of intimacy and openness and are the main providers of emotional and social support. However, there has been no research in Indonesia that assesses the role of the protective factor of self-control as an introductory factor of various maladaptive behaviors. The purpose of this study was to assess the role of self-control as an intermediary factor in the relationship between peer attachment and internet addiction in 114 high school students. Mediation test using Macro Process and Sobel calculation, the results of the mediation test showed that self-control can fully mediate the relationship between peer attachment and internet addiction. These findings provide important suggestions for parents and schools to be able to provide interventions regarding the importance of self-control and the meaning of peer attachment among students

Abstract

The phenomenon of early marriage is characterized by various challenges caused by various factors, one of which is psychological unpreparedness. Getting married at a young age is closely related to the problem of quarter life crisis (QLC). QLC is an emotional crisis that occurs at the age of 18-29 years who experience unstable conditions such as indecisiveness, a variety of choices, and even feelings of giving up easily.  QLC is influenced by internal and external factors, in this research it focuses on adversity intelligence (internal) and family support (external). This study aims to analyze the relationship between adversity intelligence and family support with QLC in individuals who marry at a young age. This research uses quantitative methods with a sampling technique, namely purposive sampling. The subjects of this research were 50 individuals who married at an early age. Data were collected using the quarter life crisis scale, adversity intelligence scale and family support scale which were analyzed using multiple regression analysis with the help of JASP 16.2 for Windows software. The research results show a value of r = 0.762 with p < 0.001, meaning that there is a significant relationship between the variables of adversity intelligence and family support and the quarter life crisis in individuals who marry at a young age with an effective contribution of 58%. Based on the results of this research, suggestions for further research are expected to control personality traits in reviewing the QLC that occurs in individuals who marry at a young age.

Abstract

Digital technology has had a significant impact on adolescent behavior, including the increasing prevalence of internet addiction. This study aimed to examine the influence of adolescents’ attachment to their mothers and fathers on the level of internet addiction. Parental attachment is a crucial aspect of adolescent psychosocial development that can affect patterns of internet use. A quantitative survey method was employed, involving X adolescent respondents aged 14 to 18 years, selected using purposive sampling. The instruments used in this study were the Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (IPPA) and the Internet Addiction Test (IAT). Based on the results of the analysis, this study concludes that parental attachment has a statistically significant relationship but does not have a practically significant effect on internet addiction in adolescents. These findings suggest that internet addiction in adolescents is influenced by various complex factors beyond the dynamics of family relationships, such as peer pressure and the influence of the digital environment. Therefore, it is essential for researchers and practitioners to develop more comprehensive intervention approaches that incorporate broader social environments and relevant psychological factors to support adolescents in managing healthy internet use.

Abstract

Teacher resilience plays a crucial role in sustaining special education, particularly amid high teacher turnover in special schools. This study aims to explore the meanings and dynamics that sustain the resilience of two senior teachers at a Special Needs Elementary School in Semarang, Indonesia, who have remained in the profession for over 12 years despite systemic limitations and emotional challenges. Grounded in an interpretivist–constructivist paradigm, this qualitative case study employed semi-structured in-depth interviews, non-participant classroom observations, and interviews with parents or guardians as source triangulation. Data were analyzed thematically with a constructivist lens to reveal the meanings of experience, capturing the embedded meanings in teachers' resilience withinspecial education settings. The analysis revealed six core themes: (a) transformation of motivation from economic needs to professional dedication, (b) enhanced self-worth through students' achievements,(c) development of a growth mindset, (d) emotional closeness with students, (e) sublimation of personal struggles into professional strength, and (f) collegial and organizational support. Furthermore, the research findings reveal a new contextual dimension, namely professional persistence, which represents teachers' determination to continue teaching despite facing structural and emotional obstacles in the local context of special schools in Semarang. This dimension emerges as a unique form of resilience, reflecting not only the ability to persist but also a conscious choice to continue professional commitment despite less than supportive working conditionssustainably. Thus, professional persistence broadens the understanding of teacher resilience as a contextual response rooted in their values, meanings, and professional identities.

Abstract

In the digital age, when access to knowledge is widespread, many assume that society will become more logical, critical, and objective, thereby reducing the glorification of public figures. In fact, glorification has found an even broader place in the digital age. Although there are many public opinions and media reports about the glorification of political figures, systematic studies to understand this phenomenon are very limited. This study aims to analyze the glorification of political figures on social media using sentiment analysis. A total of 8,000 tweets were analyzed. The results show that the majority of tweets contain positive sentiments, namely 4,200 tweets or 52.5% of the total data, indicating the glorification of political figures. The glorification found was Overgeneralization (22%), Hero Worship (15%), and Dismissive of Criticism (12%). The glorification patterns that often appear were not based on objective facts, where political figures were positioned as ideal figures beyond criticism. This study contributes to the study of political psychology and public communication in the digital age, particularly regarding how emotions influence the image of political figures. This study highlights the importance of improving digital literacy and critical thinking in order to filter content that contains excessive adoration of political figures, which can have a negative impact on social cohesion, the quality of democracy, and public accountability

Abstract

This research aims to explore how the revitalization of Javanese culture plays a role in building cultural resilience as a strategy for the prevention of radicalism. Employing a qualitative approach, the study involved in-depth interviews with Javanese cultural experts, former individuals exposed to radical ideologies, religious leaders, and security apparatus personnel experienced in handling extremism. The thematic analysis identified three primary themes: (1) Kejawen values as a cognitive-affective framework that forms cultural resilience; (2) the practice of Gotong Royong (cooperation) as a source of communal resilience that strengthens the sense of connection and collective alertness; and (3) traditional Arts and Rituals as Mechanisms of Local Identity Formation, which functions to protect individuals from seeking alternative identities offered by radical ideologies. These findings confirm that the revitalization of Javanese culture is not merely the preservation of tradition, but rather an adaptive mechanism that reinforces the community's resilience in rejecting the penetration of violent ideologies. Thus, cultural resilience becomes an essential foundation for sustainable radicalism prevention efforts based on local wisdom. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of utilizing local cultural values and practices in a reflective manner in the formulation of community-based radicalism prevention programs, particularly through the strengthening of cultural spaces, values education, and sustained social participation.
