At an educational institution student’s character building is done inherently in the instructional process. The purpose of this research was to describe the size of contribution given by the lecturer’s professionalism and model separately and simultaneously to the student’s character. This quantitative research used correlational approach including all all students of The Nursery Program Study at STIK Bina Husada in Palembang as the research population. The students were of the academic year 2013 who had completed Character Education Course with the total number of 78 students. The results showed the significant contribution of the lecture’s professionalism to the student’s character at amount of 0.112. Meanwhile, the lecture’s model had no significant contribution to the student’s character. The lecture’s professionalism and model simultaneously had significant contribution to the student’s character at amount of 0.135. There are some other factors to study further in the student’s character building.

Many people realize the importance of special education for gifted and talented children. However, the implementation of special education through accelerated class generates a polemic. In regards to the problem mentioned above, the acceleration should be laid upon the original idea as an effort to effectively serve the gifted and talented children. This is crucial, since this is called as an accelerated class, where acceleration has to take place. The accelerated class seems to be meant only for talented children with such an achievement and a high score of IQ, but the accelerated class is neither for children with under achievement or the disadvantaged children. While it’s mentioned legally that every citizen has the right to access education. The essence of acceleration lies in the effective service for gifted and talented children. One innovative is accelerated-inclusion. In the context of inclusive education, the acceleration is a must, as this is the essence of the fulfillment of the special needs. This article analyzed accelerated-inclusion in Al-Mabrur Elementary School, in Bandung. The focus of the analysis is what, wh, and how the accelerated-inclusion is developed in this five-year learning program full-day school, and is relevant to the context of effective service for gifted and talented children.

The purpose of this study is to discover the motivation strength of the students of Education Management students at The School of Education, State University of Jakarta. Employing descriptive and explanative method, the study was conducted as from May through November 2012. The data were collected using questionaire and interview techniqes. As the result of the study, the students’ interest, the problems in developing a business, and the students’ evaluation of Entrepreneurship course were presented descriptively.

This research aimed at discovering the maladaptive bevavior change of the subject that is turning his/her head towards the window, leaving the seat to search the bee during the lesson after the child had been given the treatment using a structured schedule which fit to the peculiar characteristics of his/her maladaptive behavior objective. The research was conducted at SLB Tegar Harapan in Sleman (IY) as from June through Novemebr 2012. The research subject was an autistic child continuaously showing maladaptive behavior as mentioned before that made him not concentrate to rthe lesson. As a Single Subject Research with ABA design, this research applied obervation method to collect the data to be analyzed with simple technique. The findings showed in general the frequency of maladaptive behavior showed by the subject tent to decrease up to 1. Based on the findings, the research suggested to implement this method for other autistic children /more population to prove the effectiveness of the method.

The improvement of instructional quality, particularly in the Natural Science Course, in Primary School Teacher Education Departement of the School of Education, State University of Jakarta, has not well implemented active learning as required in ALIHE. The lecture plays more role directing the students rather than motivating the students to be active learning. The purpose of this research was to improve the instructional quality by implementing ALIHE in this Course. Employing action research method, the research was conducted at Primary School Teacher Education Departement of the School of Education, State University of Jakarta, as from February through June 2012. The data were collected using the observatuin sheets prepared in collaboration with Natural Science Lecturers responsible for the Course of Natural Science Education for Primary School. The findings concluded thet ALIHE strategy can (1) improve the instructional quality including the lecture’s performance and the learning effects for the students, (2) improve the appropriate instructional climate, (3) enable the the lecture or the lecture and the students design instructional materials and media which improve the learning achiievement, and (4) enable the lecture to determine more suitable instructional system.

This research aimed at producing a group counselling model to improve the students’ self-efficacy at Gudance and Counselling Department of School of Education, State University of Jakarta. The students 2007 academic year were writing their thesis. Taking a place in Gudance and Counselling Department of School of Education, State University of Jakarta, the research was conducted in the academic year of 2011/2012. The sample of 48 students were selected by random sampling from the students registered ini 2007. The research and development method was employed and the data were collected using the instrument of Multicultural Counselling Competence for counsellor candidates, which had been validated and its realibility had been tested. The findings wre classified into two groups. The first indicated 52.1% of the students have high self-efficacy. The second, the predictive effective group counselling model predicted was behavior-cognitive group counselling. The prodused model consisted of rationale, objective, main componen, format, session, counsellor’s roles, counselling phases, and success indicator. The research recommended Gudance and Counselling Department, students and researchers to do further research testing the effectivness of the model to improve students’ self-efficacy.

The purpose of this research was to describe the evaluation of the students’s learning achievement and the factors influencing the teachers in using alternative assessment in evaluating the students’s learning achievement. The method applied was mixed method explanatory in which the research began with quantitative approach and continued with qualitative approach. The research was conducted in Utan Kayu Selatan area of the East Jakarta as from April to November 2011 and the primary school teachers were determined as the research subjects. The samples were selected by random sampling for the quantitative approach and certain criteria were used for the qualitative approach. Based on the data analysis, from 41 only nine teachers used the alternative assessment. In-depth study indicated the influencing factors for the teachers to use the alternative factors were (1) boredom of using the conventional evaluation, (2) wish to adjust the evaluation technique to the instructional objectives, (3) wish to gain authentic assessment of the students’ competence, (4) awareness to grow honesty value to the students, (5) insight of the students’ different competence, and (6) teachers’ creativity.

The advancement of information and communication technology (ICT) has affected the educational practices including instructional process. In Indonesia, ICT has been benefitted for instructional purposes, one of them is social net Facebook. This research aimed at revealing how facebook can be used to improve the students’ learning achievement in the course of Innovation and Deffusion in Education (IDE) at The Curriculum and Educational Technology Departement, School of Education, State University of Jakarta. The research was conducted in the Even Semester of 2012 apllying survey method with all of IDE students as respondents. The data were collected and analyzed focusing on instructional design, prosess, and evaluation. The research findings concluded that facebook can facilitate learning to improve the students’ learning achievement.

Character education aims at improving religiuos, social, and emotional intelligence. To meet the aim not only the school is responsible but also the parents are responsible for building the children’s character. The purpose of this research, therefore, is to produce the design development of character value determined by the parents and the learning material appearnce. Applying development method, the research was conducted in Jakarta as from April through December 2012. As a development research, it included the development design, prototype, and evaluation of the learning materials. Data were collected by observation, interview, and questionair. The respondents, selected by accidental sampling technique, consisted of 10 parents and 10 primary school teachers. The result of the research showed the religious value was choosen as the main value of character education for the primary school students of grade 1-3 and honesty value for grade 4 -5.

In the era of information and communication technology (ICT) every institution, including library, competes in integrating technology to develop and empower ICT based application in the library containing digital learning resource. This research focused on developing Digital Library as a students’ learning resource to assist them to search digital information. Applying ADDIE Model, the research took place at Curriculum and Educational Technology Program, The School of Education, The State University of Jakarta, in March – September 2012 following the steps: analysing the students’ need, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating the product. The result of the development of the application database for the digital library is the the development of open source which has applied International Standard, AACR. The software is called SliMS (Senayan Library Management System). SliMS is an Open Source Software (OSS) web based and designed specifically to meet the need for library automation at small to big scales. Digital Library of Curriculum and Educational Technology Program, The School of Education, The State University of Jakarta is beneficial for the staff and students in searching references and instrucional materials.
