Abstract

Practicum is a learning method that involves students in experiments to understand concepts in depth. One concept that is often considered abstract is chlorophyll, which formation is influenced by environmental factors such as water availability. To clarify this concept, a practicum on chlorophyll extraction from peranggi chili (Capsicum annum L. Var Chinensis) under drought stress was conducted, while introducing local plants to students. The innovation in this practicum lies in the use of color reference sheets as visual indicators. This study aimed to measure learning outcomes and students' responses to the practicum. This study usesed a quantitative descriptive method with instruments in the form of teaching modules, LKPD, psychomotor and affective observation sheets, and response questionnaires. This research consisted of three stages. The first stage of preparation included making and validating instruments. The implementation stage included chlorophyll extraction activities, observations with color reference, psychomotor and affective assessments, and questionnaire filling. Data analysis was carried out by calculating and categorizing data based on Riduwan's categories. The results showed the acquisition of cognitive (85.85), psychomotor (95%), and affective (93%) scores with a very high category, as well as a student response of 81%. This practicum is a new innovation in chlorophyll observation with a simple method and low cost, so it can be applied in schools.

Abstract

The development of technology is currently accelerating. One of the uses of technology in education is teaching or supporting media in learning. This study aimed to design E-instructions for the stomata observation practicum inquiry method to improve critical thinking in learning valid plant anatomy and to determine E-instructions' validity to improve critical thinking in learning plant anatomy. The method in this research is the ADDIE method, which has several stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This research data was collected using validity instruments in the form of validity sheets. This research uses a descriptive quantitative data analysis technique describing the data's validity. The validity test results get the following average: the material aspect receives an average of 85.8%, the systematic aspect gets a validity value of 84.3%, the language aspect gets a value of 88.3%, and the graphic aspect receives a value of 89.3%. The average score for all aspects of the assessment is 86.9%. Based on the scores of the three expert validators, it can be concluded that the results of the validation of the Inquiry-Approach Practicum E-Instructions to Improve Critical Thinking in Plant Anatomy Learning are in the very valid category.

Abstract

Nervous system material is often considered difficult by students due to its abstract and complex nature. Augmented Reality (AR) emerges as a technology capable of effectively visualizing objects, particularly in presenting 3D objects interactively and dynamically for abstract and complex concepts. This study aims to develop AR based learning media in the nervous system material that is feasible for use in classroom learning through interactive and dynamic visualizations. The type of research used is research and development (R&D) with research steps referring to the 4D Models, which include the stages of Define, Design, Development, and Dissemination. This study was limited to the Development stage because focusing solely on developing and validating the feasibility of NeuroAR without including the Dissemination stage. This study includes an explanation of the identification of learning challenges, and potential use of AR, which is conducted through teacher interviews, classroom observations, and student questionnaires. Then, it explains how planning the content structure, visualizing 3D organs and bioprocesses, designing audio elements, and designing AR-based learning activities and explains how the development stage includes media development using Unity3D, Assemblr Edu, Blender, Canva, and Solidworks. Validation by media and material experts, and readability test by students. The result of this research is the producted of NeuroAR media on nervous system material that has been declared feasible and valid for use in learning, as indicated by the results of material and media expert validation categorized as very valid and the readability test by students which showed a positive response.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an authentic assessment and analyze the implementation of a project-based authentic assessment with a scientific approach in biology practicum. The research method employed was Research and Development (R&D) using the ADDIE (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) design model. The results showed that, based on expert validation, the content expert evaluation yielded a score of 85.27% and the media expert evaluation yielded 80.35%, indicating that the developed authentic assessment is valid and suitable for use. The practicality test revealed that the use of project-based authentic assessment obtained a percentage score of 83.34%, categorized as practical. The practicality indicators measured included ease of use, clarity of instructions, adequacy of allocated time, and the suitability of the assessment format to user needs. The effectiveness test indicated that the use of project-based authentic assessment obtained a percentage score of 83.35%, categorized as highly effective. The effectiveness indicators measured included the assessment’s ability to optimally measure learning outcomes, the alignment of project tasks with learning objectives, the improvement of students’ skills, and the achievement of learning outcomes as targeted. The findings of this study recommend the use of project-based authentic assessment for learning activities in all practicum courses within the Biology Education study program.
