Abstract

This paper aims to explain the dilemma of handing over customary land for oil palm plantations in Nagari Kinali. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection through in-depth interviews and literature studies. The results of the study show that there is dualism between the holders of the Tuanku Kinali title as leaders of the customary area in Nagari Kinali. As a result, internal conflicts between them occur. Additionally, conflicts with companies arise due to the lack of transparency in the distribution of plasma and plasma management. This has become a dilemma for the community. On the one hand, they conflict with Ninik Mamak, and on the other hand, they must resist companies taking away their rights. Therefore, this is inseparable from the influence of capitalism, which is marked by an increasing trend of commercialization and monetization that has penetrated the very fabric of traditional rural communities. Keyword: Customary Land, Dilemma, Handover, Kinali.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of anger on brand hate, as well as its impact on the dissemination of negative electronic word of mouth (negative eWOM) and consumer boycott intentions. The research employed a quantitative method using an online survey of 198 respondents who were aware of the Israel–Palestine conflict. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS with WarpPLS 7.0 software. The results show that anger has a significant effect on brand hate. Furthermore, brand hate was found to significantly influence negative eWOM and consumer boycott, while religiosity did not moderate the relationship between anger and brand hate. These findings indicate that negative emotions toward socio political issues play a more dominant role in driving boycott actions compared to religious dimensions. Therefore, in practical terms, the results encourage businesses to be more sensitive to socio political values in maintaining brand image and sustainability.  Keywords: Anger, Brand Hate, Consumer Boycott, Negative eWOM, Religiosity.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the role of digital technology in the preservation, promotion, and protection of Traditional Cultural Expressions (TCE) as an effort to bridge tradition and modernity. Digital transformation, particularly through the internet and social media, has changed the way people access, distribute, and appreciate traditional cultural expressions. This research uses a qualitative approach with a critical paradigm through literature review and analysis of international policy documents from WIPO, UNESCO, and related institutions published between 2020 and 2025. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis and critical interpretation techniques based on theories of the political economy of media and cultural commodification. The results show that digital technology plays a dual role: as an effective means of expanding the distribution and increasing the visibility of TCE, while also posing risks to the authenticity, communal ownership, and legal protection of indigenous peoples. Innovations such as Creative Commons licenses, indigenous protocols, and digital rights management have been shown to offer more adaptive protection alternatives. This research concludes that the successful preservation of TCE in the digital age depends on collaboration between indigenous peoples, states, and global institutions in creating an inclusive, ethical, and sustainable digital ecosystem. Keywords: Digital Communication, Cultural Digitalization, Indigenous Communities, Intellectual Property Protection, Traditional Cultural Expressions (TCE).
