Abstract

Background: Pressure sores will make the healing process take a long time. Skin care to prevent pressure sores can be started since the patient is identified as being at risk for pressure ulcers through a pressure ulcer risk assessment, a pressure ulcer risk assessment method using two scales, namely the Braden and Gosnell scales. Objectives: This study aims to compare the assessment of the Braden scale and the Gosnell scale in assessing the level of risk of pressure sores in bed rest patients. Methods: This research design uses quantitative with comparative studies. The population is 706 people with a total sample of 61 people by accidental sampling. The research was conducted on 12 August – 25 September 2020. Data were analyzed univariate and bivariate using test Kappa. Results: The results show that most of the risk levels of pressure sores are more with moderate risk as much as 47.5% assessed by the Braden scale. Most of the level of risk of pressure sores is more with a mild risk of 62.3% assessed by the Gosnell scale. The Gosnell scale is better used to measure pressure sores in bed rest patients in the Inpatient Room at Bhayangkara Hospital Jambi in 2020 by showing the Kappa test value of 0.797. Conclusion: The Gosnell scale is better used to measure pressure sores in bed rest patients. It is recommended that the Gosnell test scale be applied in hospitals as an assessment of the risk of pressure sores in bed rest patients.

Abstract

Background: This research is a literature study. PICOT framework is used as strategy to find journals using the keywords “anxiety AND nurses AND COVID-19”. The data sources used are the e-resources database of Indonesian National Library, Pub-med, and Google Scholar in the form of articles or journals. Objectives: This study aims to identify the factors that influence the anxiety of healthcare workers especially nurses during the COVID-19 outbreak. Methods: Inclusion criteria of this study are national and international journals from various databases and related with the research variables namely “Anxiety” and “Nurses for COVID-19 Patients” with article publication time frame in the last 5 years (2016-2021). The exclusion criteria for this study were national and international journals from various databases and not related with research variables; no intervention is given; not about “Anxiety” and “Nurses for COVID-19 Patients”; and the publication time of the article is more than 5 years. Results: Three databases are used: 119 articles found in National Library database; 358 from PubMed; and 836 from Google Scholar. After being disqualified regarding the year of publication for the last 5 years as well as duplication of articles, 327 articles are obtained, and finally, 6 articles that meet the criteria. Conclusion: From the final 6 articles found, most of the healthcare workers experienced anxiety. So, from literature review of 6 research journals, it can be concluded that healthcare workers experienced anxiety when treating patients with COVID-19 which related to additional working hours and workload as well as insufficiency of personal protective equipment.

Adherence to chemotherapy is one of the treatments that can improve the quality of life of children with cancer. Objectives: The aim of this study is to identify the factors influencing parental adherence to bring their child undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: The research method was quantitative, employing a descriptive correlation approach and a cross-sectional design. The data was collected using a questionnaire. The sample was 96 parents of children who underwent chemotherapy, which taken by accidental sampling. Chi-square, Kendall's Tau B, and Kendall's Tau C were used in the analysis. Results: There was a significant relationship between education level (p value = 0.006), knowledge (p value = 0.003), and no relationship with work (p value = 0.291), economic status (p value = 0.269), distance (p value = 0.389), side effect (p value = 0.624), and support system (p value = 0.309) with the adherence of parents in bringing their children to chemotherapy. Conclusion: Health professionals can monitor and encourage parents to always bring their children to chemotherapy.

Abstract

Background: Nursing service quality can provide satisfaction to the patients and their families. Satisfaction occurs after analysing perceptions of service performance manifested in feelings of pleasure or disappointment. Based upon a survey during September 2019, one private hospital in central Indonesia found 30% of the family members were dissatisfied with nursing services. Respondents evaluated nurses were late replying to bells, and the explanation of nursing intervention was not recognized by family members. Objectives: The study aimed to analyse the factors related to family satisfaction toward nursing services. Methods: A quantitative inferential with a cross-sectional approach. A purposive sampling was selected among 214 respondents. Data collection using a questionnaire that has been examined on validity and reliability which processed quantitatively and analysed with Fishers exact and logistic regression tests. Results: More than half of the respondents were female and less than half were aged 26-35 years. Half had higher education. There was a significant correlation between tangible (p=0.001), reliability (p=0.001), responsiveness (p=0.001), empathy (p=0.001) and assurance (p=0.001) with family satisfaction. Reliability remains the most dominant factor that affected family satisfaction. Good reliability has a 0.048 times greater chance of increasing family satisfaction compared to poor reliability. Conclusion: The family members were not satisfy with the nursing services. Management to improve nursing services might assess the families desire for the reliability of nursing services so expect satisfaction will increase.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a clinical syndrome of impaired metabolic secretion, insulin action, or both characterized by hyperglycemia. Various nursing problems can occur due to hyperglycemic conditions that are not handled properly. The instability of blood glucose levels is a major problem that occurs in uncontrolled DM patients. This condition can lead to various complications and complications so comprehensive treatment management is needed. Objectives: This study aims to explore and analyze the nursing management of unstable blood glucose levels in type 2 DM patients who were hospitalized. Methods: This study is a qualitative study using an exploratory case study method in diabetes mellitus patients type 2 who were hospitalized. The data obtained were processed and analyzed based on theories that explain the occurrence of the problem of instability in blood glucose levels and the nursing management carried out in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Results: The results of this study indicate that the main problem in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is the instability of blood glucose levels which is characterized by hyperglycemia. Nursing management carried out is monitoring blood glucose level laboratory results, management of hyperglycemia, medication management, nutrition/diet management, treatment, and care education programs can reduce blood glucose levels. Content validity; ROC = 0.41, differentiating between clinical and control groups; sensitivity = 0.80, specificity = 0.72. Data analysis was carried out univariate (frequency distribution) and bivariate with a chi-square test. Results: It was found that most of the children with moderate Autism had sleep problems (54.5%) p = 0.005. Abstract

Background: Every nurse who works in a hospital will face quite time-consuming and laborious work, especially when the bed occupancy rate (BOR) is 85%, and the work pressure of nurses is high. The effect of work stress manifests as physical fatigue, psychological changes, and behavioral changes. Nurses need to try to prevent work stress from happening for a long time by doing stress management, one of which is progressive muscle relaxation therapy. Objectives: The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy in reducing nurses’ work stress. Methods: The study was conducted on five resident nurses who were trained using Progressive Muscle Relaxation and then used the Nursing Stress Scale to measure stress levels before and after training. The research design was Quasi Experiment with One group pretest and post-test designs; data analysis with paired t-test. Results: The results showed that there was a significant effect of implementing progressive muscle relaxation therapy on reducing nurse work stress (p = 0.024; 95% CI). Conclusion: There is a significant effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on the work stress response of nurses. Progressive muscle relaxation therapy is good to apply to hospital nurses who go through work stress so that stress does not occur which can risk reducing the quality of service to patients.
