Abstract

Background: Stroke is one of the leading causes of disability and mortality worldwide, with more than 13 million new cases recorded annually. Stroke can lead to various complications, including dysphagia, which disrupts the patient's swallowing ability. One therapy that can assist stroke patients with dysphagia is the Shaker Exercise. Objectives: This study aims to provide an overview of the impact of implementing Shaker Exercise on swallowing ability in stroke patients experiencing dysphagia through Evidence-Based Nursing Practice (EBNP). Methods: The study used a systematic approach by reviewing various articles and literature from seven prominent health databases, including ProQuest, PubMed, and ScienceDirect. Selected articles focused on Shaker Exercise interventions for stroke patients with dysphagia. Results: The review identified one article in the form of a Systematic Review Meta-Analysis, which examined 37 studies involving a total of 2,656 participants. The analysis results demonstrated that the Shaker Exercise is effective in strengthening suprahyoid muscles, reducing aspiration frequency, and improving swallowing ability in stroke patients with dysphagia. Conclusion: The implementation of Shaker Exercise therapy for stroke patients with dysphagia shows significant results in enhancing swallowing ability and reducing aspiration complications. This therapy aligns with evidence-based nursing principles, supporting the improvement of patients' quality of life through scientifically proven interventions.

Abstract

Background: Patient satisfaction reflects patients’ perceptions and needs regarding the utilization of healthcare services. Nurse performance in Indonesia has been reported to be relatively low (53.4%). Objectives: To examine the relationship between nurse performance in providing nursing care and patient satisfaction at Budhi Asih General Hospital, Jakarta. Methods: This study employed a descriptive correlational design with a sample of 173 respondents determined using Lameshow’s proportion formula. Data were analyzed using logistic regression. Results: The study found that nurse performance was significantly associated with patient satisfaction (p-value 0.03 < 0.05). Multivariate analysis confirmed that nurse performance remained significantly related to patient satisfaction. Conclusion: Nurse performance had an odds ratio (OR) of 4.5 (95% CI: 1.926–10.877), indicating that nurses’ performance increases the likelihood of patient satisfaction fourfold after controlling for age, marital status, and length ofstay.

Abstract

Background: Nursing services are the spearhead of health services in hospitals, quality and professional services are needed by developing a Professional Nursing Practice Model. The successful application of the Professional Nursing Practice Model is supported by high motivation from nurses, so that it will produce a good performance in accordance with the objectives to be achieved. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of nurses' motivation and performance on the application of professional nursing practice models at the Tangerang City Regional General Hospital Objectives: Methods: This study was cross sectional, with 90 respondents. The analysis used multiple logistic regression. Results: From the results of the multivariate analysis in this study, it is known that the level of education and length of work are confounding. Based on the multiple logistic regression test, it is known that the OR value of 4.263 means that a strong nurse's motivation can have the opportunity to apply the Professional Nursing Practice Method of 4.2 times compared to a weak nurse's motivation after being controlled by the level of education and length of work and it is also known that the OR value of 4.054 means that the nurse's performance is low. Good nurses have the opportunity to apply Professional Nursing Practice Methods by 4 times compared to weak nurses' performance after being controlled by education level and length of work Conclusion: The most dominant variable that influences the application of the professional nursing practice model is the motivation of nurses with an OR of 4.263.

Methods: This study used quantitative research with descriptive research design and crosssectional approach. The sample size was 98 nurses of RSIJ Cempaka putih using stratified random sampling technique of finite population. Data collection using questionnaires and statistical tests with the Chi Square test. Results: chi square test there is a significant relationship or there is a relationship between power planning by the head of the room with nurse job satisfaction (p value = 0.031). There is a relationship between workload and nurse satisfaction (p value= 0.000). The dominant variable associated with nurse ob satisfaction is workload Conclusion: Nurses with high workloads are at risk of becoming dissatisfied with their work. Nursing management should pay attention to nurses' workloads by planning a balanced nursing workforce based on the number of staff, types of staff, and educational qualifications of nursing staff in accordance with the workload in each treatment room.
