Abstract

Paradigm shift in education has made significant change in the roles of teacher and student in teaching and learning process. In the new paradigm the student become the axis of teaching and learning process. The student makes the choice in learning objective, learning materials, and learning resources based on his/her learning style. The teacher acts more as a learning designer, learning manager, and tutor. The learning theory development tends to provide the learner with learning skills to enable them to be independent learners to life-long learning. However, the learning theories are mostly discussed in the formal eduacation situation, though the theories are also apllicable for nonformal education. This article discusses how the current learning theories can be implemented in nonformal education. The discussion is limited on the application of learning resources development in early childhood education and learning community centers. The discussion ends with a strong conclusion that resources based learning theory are potential and need to apply in nonformal education under a condition that there should be some changes in the roles of teachers/instructors, learners, and the nonformal institution.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to deliver a training model that can increase the knowledge and skill of the parents of the early children to perform education in the family environment. To reach the goal it is developed the educative traditional game based on the local potency. After attending the training, it is expected that the skill and knowledge of the parents in applying the traditional game can be increased.The method of this study is research and development model. The subject of the research was the parents of the early-age children who were staying to take care of their children during their study at the PAUD Kota Gorontalo, 50 of which were used in the previous study and the other 40 were used in the model implementation, and they were divided into two groups, the experiment and control groups (20 for each).The purposive sampling, the test, interview, questionnaire, and documentation study were applied in this research. It applied the quasy experiment (Non Equivalent Group Pretest-Posttest Design). The research result indicates local potency based educative traditional game model has effectively increased the knowledge and skills of the early age children’s parents at PAUD Kota Gorontalo.

Abstract

At The research is aimed at describing the implementation of equity education evaluation program of equity education paket B for wajar dikdas 9th year at sub province Gorontalo. Design of this research is qualitative with use phenomenology approach and design multi cases. Base of decided to use this approach is (1) this research have been done at nature background and two sided background different case; (2) this research use human as important instrument; (3) this research more focus to process, not result. For implementation this multi cases studies as base as opinion that multi cases studies is a study with detail with two or more background with have different characteristic, a subject, documents or a happen. This research use snowball sampling technic, (1) deep interview; (2) participation observation; (3) documentation study. Informer decided with purposive technic source triangulation, And than did evaluation of credibility, dependability, and confirmability. Data analysis include: (1) case individual analysis and (2) analysis multicases. Result of this research is (1) Content program: (a) curriculum centered, (b) application for skill, (c) program purpose to student potential. (2) Learning: (a) community centre, (b) environment student, (c) program structural flexsibility, (d) student centered, (e) user resourch. (3) Program assurance: (a) innisiative organization and participative student and decentralitation, (b) democrazy.

Abstract

This research aims at creating a model of self- learning materials to improve PAUD teacher’s competence in facilitating and developing learning in early childhood education. The model to be developed based on andragogy approach consists of the learning and teaching materials, learning and teaching guidelines, and assessment and evaluation guidelines. To reach the research objectives. research and development method was employed. The data was collected through observation, interview, questionnaire, and test. Data analysis used qualitative analysis capturing the analysis of preliminary research data, the result of expert validation, and try out data. Quantitative analysis was also integrated in this study for the experiment data. The result of this study shows that the self learning materials developed in this research can improve the early childhood education teacher’s competence in teaching and learning process. It is recommended therefore to use this andragogy principles based model of self learning package for early childhood education teachers.

Abstract

This research aims to increase the early age children’s interest in learning math through puzzle game. This study was conducted in grade 1, SDN Kaloran Kidul in May to June 2012. The method used was action research conducted through two cycles each of which consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection. The subjects were ten children of with interest problems in learning math. The data were collected using tests and non-test and analyzed with the percentage technique agreed by the collaborator and researcher. The results show that the puzzle game can be used to increase the students’ interest in learning math. The implications of these results among others is the puzzle game can be used as an alternative method to improve the children’s interest in learning math. The interest increase can be seen from the children’s sense of love or interest, concern, desire, seriousness and satisfaction in learning mathematics.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of Kumon’s students, 7-8 years old, in solving mathematics word problems. This study done in December 2012 used cumulative approach with survey method. The respondents were the students of Kuman Course in North Jakarta. The data collected by distributing the questions to the respondents were analyzed applying simple statistic technique. Findings show that 86%of the respondents belong to high category while 14% belong to medium category. and no students belongs to low category. The implication of this study is Kumon students have the ability to solve mathematics word problem, but they still have to do more exercises in solving mathematics word problems continually. Besides, the Kumon Course should use media in the teaching of mathematics word problems.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of academic self efficacy on math learning outcomes particularly in solving mixed word problems. The study was conducted at SDN Pinang Ranti 04 Pagi, East Jakarta, in January 2013. Employing ex-post facto method, the study selected 32 students of the third grade. The data were collected using questionnaires and descriptive test and analyzed by t-test for the hypothesis. The results indicate positive significant influence of academic self efficacy on the learning outcomes in math mixed word problems. The implications of this research is high academic self efficacy needs to have as it gives effect to the students’ academic success. The students can enhance their academic self efficacy by increasing self efficacy experiences, observations on the other people’s success. The teachers and parents can help the students to their academic self efficacy by providing encouragement. The students’ learning outcomes can be influenced by internal and eksternal factors.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve the creativity of children aged 5-6 years through natural materials in PAUD Bestari, Gunungsindur, Bogor. The research conducted in November 2012 applied action research approach two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. The research subject were eleven kindergarten children having creativity problems. The final result of the overall data analysis indicates the hypothesis is accepted meaning that using natural materials can improve the creativity of children aged 5-6 years old.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to improve the science process skills of the children aged 5-6 years through inquiry approach at TK Kasih Ibu, South Jakarta. The research conducted in November and December 2012 employed classroom action research within two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this research were 12 kindergarten children. The data were collected using test and non test. After the second cycle, the research concluded that the inquiry approach can improve the science basic skills of children aged 5-6 years old. The implication of this research is inquiry approach can be alternative way to improve science process skills of children aged 5-6 years old. The improvement of the science basic science can be demonstrated through observing, comparing, classifying, measuring and communication.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain empirical data on the effects of storytelling activities with Islamic books on moral behavior of the children aged 5-6 years in Unwanul Khairiyah RA and RA Nurul Akbar. The research method used was ex post facto. The research samples were 20 children selected by simple random sampling. The techniques of data analysis conducted prior to the test requirements consisted of normality and homogeneity. This study concluded that there are significant positive storytelling activities with Islamic books on moral behavior of the children aged 5-6 years. The implications of the results of the study are that teachers should create learning activities that can develop the children’s moral behavior in a joyful method such as story telling with Islamic books. The teachers also need to be more creative in using methods and media.
