Abstract

The essence of independent Playing in the context of early childhood education is to provide meaningful play experiences so that they get the opportunity to explore their environment, solve problems, and become leaders in the learning process. One of the efforts to realize the freedom of play is to develop student agency in the child. Student agency is a child's competence to determine his learning process through expressing ideas and opinions, making choices, and making decisions to create a sense of ownership for what he does. This study aims to analyze the development of student agency which is packaged in a school program, namely the Aksi Pasukan HEPI at the TK Negeri Pembina, Subang Regency. The research method used is qualitative with a case study approach, with data collection being observation, interviews, and documentation. The result of the research is that the Aksi Pasukan HEPI program can develop early childhood student agency, by empowering all assets owned by the school and its environment.

Abstract

The existence of a dichotomy for students in the classroom makes transferring knowledge from teachers to students an inequality that runs ineffectively due to the difference between intelligent and unintelligent students, especially in learning Islamic education. This study analyzes learning innovations based on multiple intelligences (MI) in Islamic education subjects. This study is qualitative in nature, uses a library research approach, and the data analysis used is a descriptive-qualitative analysis. The data sources employed are from previous relevant research on multiple intelligence (MI)-based learning, such as international and national journals. However, Howard Gardner, a psychologist from Harvard University, adopted the study. This study revealed awareness that every student born into this world has their own uniqueness, which has the right to be recognized and appreciated in their learning environment and in developing their potential. Multiple intelligence (MI)-based learning is a form of learning innovation that can be an option for Islamic education teachers in Indonesia. Implementing multiple intelligences (MI)-based learning is intended to accommodate students' diverse intelligences.

Abstract

Character or morality is a very important aspect of life. It should be developed from an early age because early childhood is a crucial period of rapid growth and development for children. Therefore, it is necessary to instill good character and morals, one of which is through stories and exemplary tales of righteous predecessors. The stories of the Prophets serve as the primary alternative in enhancing the character and morality of children through storytelling. Hence, it is essential to design an engaging and appropriate medium for this purpose. This research employs a Research Development (RD) methodology, which is a type of research and development. The author has designed Viber as an engaging storytelling medium for children. Viber is designed to enhance the formation of religious character in early childhood. According to validation by media experts, it achieved an excellent rating of 86.6 out of 20, while the validation by content experts yielded a score of 77.5 out of 20. The results of the pre-test obtained a score of 22.2, while the post-test score was 30.6. Both values show significant improvement with an average increase of 8.4. Therefore, it can be concluded that the Television Storytelling Medium (Viber) is effective in enhancing the formation of religious character in early childhood.

Abstract

Efforts to foster acceptance of children with disabilities can be done by providing knowledge about disabilities through picture storybooks. Unfortunately, researchers have not found picture storybooks about disability in Indonesia that are aimed at kindergarten-age children, so this study aims to test the effectiveness of picture storybooks in increasing knowledge about disability in children aged 5-6 years. This research is a quasi-experimental study with mixed methods (quantitative and qualitative). The intervention was carried out by reading two picture story books, each read three times. Participants in this study were 28 non-disabled children aged 5-6 years and attending inclusive kindergartens. The measuring tool used is the achievement test to measure the increase in knowledge from the information provided. Quantitative results found an increase in knowledge about disability in non-disabled children aged 5-6 years. In addition, the qualitative results show that children can identify the characteristics of disabilities in the story content and are able to relate them to information that children already have. The implication is that teachers and parents can use picture storybooks to introduce disabilities to children aged 5-6 years in Inclusive Kindergarten.

Abstract

The Pre-Service Competency Teacher Level in Teaching Early Mathematics Instrument has been developed to measure the competency level and readiness to teach early mathematics in Preschool. This study was conducted to produce empirical evidence on the validity and reliability of this instrument by using the Rasch model. Surveys were conducted in three private universities that offer Early Childhood Education Programmes. A total of 85 pre-service teachers were selected as a sample of the study through simple random sampling. The validity and reliability of the instrument were measured using Rasch's model through Winstep software version 3.68.2. The findings of the unidimensionality test showed 46.1%. The Rasch analysis shows the person reliability index is 0.8 with a separation index is 2.05. The item reliability index is 0.91 and the separation index is 3.18. The item fitness analysis found 29 items in the instruments are in the valid range and one item that falls out of the allowed range. The finding showed that this instrument has a high degree of validity and reliability and can be used to measure the competency level of pre-service teaching in teaching early mathematics.

Abstract

Tradition is a valuable treasure in every culture that should be preserved and maintained. One tradition still being applied in Minangkabau is turun mandi.  Minangkabau is known for its ethnicity that uses the mother's lineage; this system allows children to be born and grow up in their mother's family and will have less time with their father's family. For this reason, the tradition in Minangkabau called turun mandi regulates the involvement of the father's family in parenting. This article aims to describe the father's family's involvement in the extended family's care through this tradition. This study uses a literature study approach that uses various related articles as data sources, and this study also uses content analysis and descriptive analysis in analyzing data. The results of the research are divided into three parts; Portraits of extended families in parenting in Indonesia, family gratitude for the birth of a child, involvement of an extended family since the birth of a child in Minangkabau, a gift from the father's family (bako) as a guide for the child.
