Abstract

This study aims to: 1) Describe the implementation of Al-Islam Kemuhammadiyahan learning in shaping students' religious and democratic character at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Karanganyar; and 2) Analyze the application of the Cooperative Learning method in strengthening these characters. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations, interviews, and document analysis to deeply explore the learning process and its impact. Data were then analyzed through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research findings reveal that: 1) The Al-Islam Kemuhammadiyahan learning at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Karanganyar has not yet fully met the three core competencies—attitude, knowledge, and skills—outlined by the Muhammadiyah Central Leadership's Majelis Dikdasmen; 2) The application of the Cooperative Learning model has proven effective in strengthening students’ religious and democratic character; and 3) This model fosters greater student activeness, encourages collaborative learning, and helps students internalize Islamic teachings and democratic principles in their daily behavior. Through Cooperative Learning, students engage more critically and collaboratively, which not only enhances their understanding of religious concepts but also cultivates democratic attitudes such as tolerance, respect, and responsibility. This research contributes to efforts in improving Al-Islam Kemuhammadiyahan learning practices in Muhammadiyah schools.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the progression of Minangkabau women during the 20th century as reflected through modern education represented in the women's press. As historical research, this research uses the historical method, which includes heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The focus is on the progress and development of Minangkabau women as represented in Asjraq magazine, published in Padang, West Sumatra. Asjraq was one of the women’s magazines actively advocating for the advancement and empowerment of Minangkabau women. The exploration of women’s ideas consistently colored every issue of Asjraq, presenting concepts that contributed to redefining women’s roles in an evolving modern world. These ideas also provoked reactions from Minangkabau society. Elements and expressions of modernity found in Asjraq include education, participation in associations and mass media, as well as artistic expression.

Abstract

Modern societies view women as equal to men, especially in government. conversely, societies with traditional stigmas view women as having power only in the domestic sphere. Historically, Javanese women, particularly in the ancient Javanese era, held a strategic position in shaping government policy. This is evident in the presence of Gayatri Rajapatni in the Majapahit Kingdom. Gayatri served as an advisor to the king and a policy maker, although she was not legally the queen. This study aims to determine the leadership strategy of Gayatri Rajapatni, a figure behind the success of Majapahit. This study used historical research methods and resulted in an analysis of Gayatri Rajapatni's leadership strategy in building the Majapahit Empire. The author concludes that Gayatri Rajapatni employed various leadership strategies to implement her vision for Majapahit's glory, namely by developing tactics and leadership patterns inherited from her father (Kertanegara).

Abstract

This research aims to describe and answer the following questions; What is the image of the people of Istanbul City in the 16th Century AD?, How did coffee shops develop in the City of Istanbul?, and what was the coffee consumption of the people of Istanbul City in the 16th-18th Century AD? To answer this question the author uses historical research methods. The historical method is carried out systematically and objectively through several stages; topic selection, heuristics, historical criticism, interpretation and historiography. The approach used is a sociological approach. This research concludes that amidst the progress of the city of Istanbul in the 16th century AD, people had many choices of activities to fill their free time. Various entertainment venues are present, the most important of which is the presence of coffee shops. In 1554 AD, the first coffee shop opened in the Tahtakale District. The ulama had issued a haram fatwa against coffee shops, but coffee shops continued to open, even the Janissaries got involved in the coffee shop business in the 18th century AD. Ottoman Turkish coffee was made by roasting, then cooling, grinding, brewing, pouring into a teapot, and serving. in the cup. What's interesting is that coffee is a part of proposal or wedding ceremonies, and coffee shops are an important place to socialize.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning, function, and dynamics of the Sipaha Lima ritual within the Parmalim belief system in Medan City, as well as the adaptation strategies employed by its community in an urban and modern context. This research is significant because Sipaha Lima is not only a spiritual practice but also a marker of local cultural identity that is vulnerable to marginalization amid globalization and dominant socio-cultural pressures. The study adopts a qualitative approach based on anthropological theory, particularly Victor Turner’s concept of ritual and theories of cultural identity. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with key informants from the Parmalim community, and document analysis. The findings reveal that Sipaha Lima functions as a medium for community unity, internal solidarity, and the transmission of Batak noble values to the younger generation. The Parmalim community also demonstrates creative adaptation efforts through the use of digital technology and openness to interfaith dialogue. The study concludes that the continuation of the Sipaha Lima ritual reflects the cultural and spiritual resilience of the Parmalim community, while also serving as a form of resistance against stigmatization and the erosion of local values. Broader recognition and systematic documentation are necessary to ensure the preservation of this practice within Indonesia’s diverse cultural framework.

Abstract

Education is a fundamental aspect of shaping the human personality as a whole, including the soul, which serves as the center of consciousness and morality. This study aims to describe the concept of soul education as well as other aspects of soul renewal found in The Agenda of Soul Renewal by Sheikh Hamza Yusuf (January 1, 1958). This research employs a qualitative descriptive method using library research. The main data source is the book Agenda of Soul Renewal, supported by relevant books and journals. The findings indicate that the agenda not only presents soul education as a process of purification and personal development but also elaborates a broader concept of soul renewal, including introspection, spiritual reform, and strengthening social roles. According to Sheikh Hamza Yusuf, soul renewal encompasses moral, emotional, and social dimensions that are interconnected in shaping a holistic human being. Besides internal obstacles such as egoism and unsupportive environments, the agenda emphasizes practical improvement steps through the implementation of Islamic values such as the pillars of faith and Islam, virtuous character, da'wah, charity, remembrance (dhikr), and empathy.

The study utilizes historical methods, with data collection through interviews, documentation, and literature review. Primary sources include documents and interviews with Panglima Laot Aceh, Teungku Miftach Tjut Adek, while secondary sources include books, journals, theses, news, and internet sites. The position of Panglima Laot has existed since the Samudra Pasai Kingdom in the 14th century, and during Sultan Iskandar Muda's reign (1607-1636), the role of Panglima Laot became clearer. During the colonial era, the Panglima Laot served as the leader of a group of fishermen who resolved disputes among them. After independence, in the year 2000, the Panglima Laot of Lhok held a meeting in Banda Aceh, resulting in the formation of a provincial-level Panglima Laot in Aceh. During the kingdom period, the Panglima Laot's duties included collecting taxes and mobilizing the masses for warfare on behalf of the sultan. Nowadays, the Panglima Laot is responsible for managing marine and fisheries affairs, especially overseeing fishing activities in the Aceh sea, as well as regulating the actions of Acehnese fishermen.

Abstract

This study examines the plague outbreak that struck the Tegal region between 1927 and 1935, focusing on its transmission routes, the response of the colonial government, and the participation of the local community. Employing historical methods comprising heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography this research presents a historical narrative that identifies ports and railway lines as primary factors in the spread of the disease. Unsanitary environmental conditions and the limited number of healthcare personnel further accelerated the outbreak. The colonial government's policies indicate that significant progress in managing the epidemic was achieved after 1934, marked by improved healthcare services and vaccination efforts. This study affirms that the successful containment of the outbreak depended on the integration of public health policies, active community involvement, and adequate infrastructure readiness. This study aims to identify the routes and causes of the spread of the plague in Tegal, as well as the mitigation efforts carried out by the Government at that time. Furthermore, this research is important as a reference for educating healthcare professionals and the general public today about plague outbreaks caused by rat fleas.
