Abstract

Cayenne pepper (Capsicum frutescens L.) is one of the horticultural commodities that needed throughout the year. In certain season, such as the rainy season, production tends to be low due to the low yield of chilies. Therefore, it is important to get the cultivation technology of cayenne pepper outside the season. This research aimed to study growth and yield of two varieties of cayenne pepper grown off-season treated with different concentrations of POMI foliar fertilizer. One experiment was carried out in October 2020 to March 2021 in a dryland of Gumantar Village, Kayangan District, North Lombok Regency. The factors tested were varieties (Sret and Taruna) and POMI foliar fertilizer concentrations (0%, 1.0% and 1.5%). The treatments were arranged using a factorial randomized block design (RBD) with three replications. The results showed that the variety and concentration of POMI leaf fertilizer interacted in affecting the number of flowers and the number of fruits. The highest number of flowers and fruit was produced by Taruna variety which was treated with POMI foliar fertilizer at 1.5% concentration. Taruna variety showed a better growth and yield than Sret while the concentration of POMI foliar fertilizer which produced the best growth and yield was 1.5%. To get high yields in off-season chili cultivation, it is recommended to grow Taruna varieties and be treated with POMI foliar fertilizer with a concentration of 1.5%.

Abstract

Cayenne pepper is one of the horticultural commodities that its production is low in the rainy season (off-season) due to the high potential for flower abortion and plant disease attacks. This study aimed to determine the effect of manure plus and varieties on the growth and yield of some cayenne pepper varieties planted off- season. The experiment was carried out in the 2020/2021 rainy season in Gumantar Village, Kayangan District, North Lombok Regency. The treatments were arranged using a Split Plot design with three replications. The main plot was manure treatment with 2 treatment levels, with and without manure plus, while as sub-plots were varieties, Taruna, Sret and Mutiara Bumi. The results showed that plant height and number of leaves at the age of 56 DAP and 98 DAP were significantly affected by manure plus treatment, and by variety too. The effect of varietal treatment showed significantly different on yield variables, such as fruit weight per plant and fruit weight per plot. The highest yield was shown by Taruna variety while Sret and Mutiara Bumi varieties did not show different results. There was an interaction between the treatment of manure and variety on the variable number of flowers, number of fruits and percentage of flower abortion. The best interaction effect occurred in the treatment of Taruna variety treated with manure plus. From the results of this study, it can be suggested to grow Taruna variety treated with manure plus to obtain high yields of cayenne pepper grown off-season on drylands.

Abstract

Soybean is one of the nutritious food commodities and a source of vegetable protein whose production is still below Indonesia's domestic needs. Research needs to be done to increase soybean productivity on marginal land. This study aims to measure the growth and yield of soybeans against the application of ameliorant and organic fertilizer made from palm oil waste. The study was conducted in Gunung Alam Village from February to April 2020. The study used a randomized block design which was arranged in a factorial manner and consisted of two factors with three replications. The first factor was ameliorant, namely 0 ton.ha-1, 1 ton.ha-1, 2 ton.ha-1, and 3 ton.ha-1. The second factor is LPMKS (Palm Oil Mill Fertilizer) fertilizer, namely 0 ton.ha-1, 2 ton.ha-1, 4 ton.ha-1, and 6 ton.ha-1. The results showed that the interaction between amelioran and organic fertilizer had a significant effect on the number of leaves 49 days after planting, namely the dose of ameliorant was 2 tons.ha-1 with LPMKS fertilizer 2 tons.ha-1, which was 29.73 strands. The ameliorant treatment had an effect on the variable weight of pods per plant, and the LPMKS treatment had a significant effect on the variable age of harvest at a dose of 6 ton.ha-1, the number of pods per plant at a dose of 6 ton.ha-1, and the number of pithy pods at a dose of 6 ton.ha. -1.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to determine aroma quality of rice and nutritional contents of upland rice of Pare Wangi variety under various levels of soil moisture and salinity, and determine correlation between the aroma quality and the nutritional content of rice. The research was started with planting seeds of Pare Wangi variety in the pot experiment. Experiment was conducted using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) that was arranged factorially by three replications. The samples of harvested grain then were taken to the laboratory to be tested for the aroma quality and other qualities of the rice. The aroma quality was determined on the basis of the aroma score of organoleptic-test results and 2-AP content of the rice, while other rice qualities include: percentage of white rice and head rice, rice water content, content of ash, fat, carbohydrate, protein, starch, amylose, and amylopectin. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance, HSD of 5% significantly level, and descriptive. Then, to find out the relationship between aroma quality and nutritional contents were carried out simple correlation analysis. The results showed that the decrease in soil moisture level caused a decrease in the quality of milled grain and the nutritional contents of rice, but did not show a significant decrease in the protein and carbohydrate content of rice. Soil moisture at 75% FC level caused the best 2AP content of rice and aroma score. The increase in salinity with the addition of NaCl salt up to 4 g NaCl kg-1 soil caused a decrease the quality of milled grain, content of ash, fat and protein. Salinity level of 1 and 2 g NaCl kg-1 soil gave the highest 2AP content of rice, but the effect was not significant on the rice aroma score. Both 2AP content and aroma score of rice were not significantly correlated with all nutritional contents of rice analyzed.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of biochar, NPK fertilizers and their interaction on the growth and yield of lettuce. This research was carried out in Moncok Village, Ampenan, Mataram City, with a height of 20 m above sea level. The study was conducted from April to June 2017. The study was conducted using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with factorial patern of 2 factors. The first factor was the type of biochar which consists of B1 (rice husk biochar) and B2 (wood branch biochar). The second factor was the dose of NPK fertilizer consisting of P0 (without NPK fertilizer), P1 (NPK fertilizer 100 kg / ha), P2 (NPK fertilizer 200 kg / ha), and P3 (NPK fertilizer 100 kg / ha). So there were 8 treatment combinations and each treatment was repeated 3 times to obtain 24 experimental plots. The results showed that the interaction between biochar types with NPK fertilizer dose did not affect the plant height, the leaf number, and the weight of biomass per plant and per plot. The type of biochar did not affect the plant height and the number of leaves but affects the weight of the plants per plant, and per plot. The dosage of NPK fertilizer did not affect the plant height and the number of leaves, except at the age of 28 day after planting but had an effect on the weight of plant per plant, and the weight of plant per plot.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of LPMKS fertiliser and phosphate solubilizing fungi on the growth of sweet corn plants and determine the dose of LPMKS solid organic fertiliser and phosphate solubilizing fungi. This study used a two-factor group randomised design, with the first factor being LPMKS fertiliser and the second factor being phosphate solubilizing fungi. The results showed that the treatment of LPMKS fertiliser did not significantly affect the growth and yield of sweet corn, but there was a tendency that the treatment of 100 g LPMKS produced better growth and yield of sweet corn. The treatment of phosphate solubilizing fungi at a dose of 5 g per plant tended to respond to plant growth and yield. There was an interaction between LPMKS fertiliser and phosphate-solubilizing fungi on the number of cobs parameter. The highest interaction was L3 P1 although not significantly different from L3 P1. The combination of all doses of LPMKS with low doses of phosphate-solubilizing fungi can produce the highest number of cobs.
