Abstract

Used water has the potential to be processed and recycled based on its continuous volume and quality that allows processing in place. The need for the importance of water is not balanced with consciousness to conserve water, so that many sources of water are polluted by human actions themselves. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of waste water usage of ablution activities, to know the performance of water treatment using ablution water through a combination of slow sand filter; and analyze the content of BOD5, E.colli / total coliform, pH and ablution water temperature. This research took samples at Jamik Lambaro Mosque, Regency of Aceh Besar, then tested in Environmental Engineering Laboratory of Environment of Serambi Mekkah University. The results showed that the use of ablution water increased at the time of five daily prayers, especially on Friday reached 1,579 people with the use of water ablution reached 4747 liters. Currently, there is no water treatment for the former Mosque of Jami’ Lambaro Mosque, the waste water is dumped into the mosque’s drainage ditch. Based on ablution water treatment with sand combination has decrease efficiency of BOD5 equal to 95%. The results of laboratory tests showed that the BOD5 content of 17 mg / l, its value under the standard quality of 50 mg / l. E.colli / total coliform that is 0 from 100 ml that meets the quality standard in accordance with Kep.Men LH RI No. 5 year 2014. The result of temperature / temperature analyst is 28,9 oC and pH is 7,34

Abstract

Indoor air pollution is a very serious health issue in comparison with outdoor air conditions. The current pandemic of COVID-19 causes people to remain indoors at all times. It is unimaginable that during this pandemic a smog-related disaster could occurs that could aggravate human respiratory diseases, thus requires additional air quality monitoring which can filter clean air into the room. The purpose of this study is to produce a prototype of air quality control that can provide a good air circulation system and hold the temperature and humidity in the room. This research was conducted with an Arduino Uno microcontroller and an MQ-135 gas sensor to detect CO2 gas and a DHT-22 sensor for measuring room temperature and humidity by comparing the results of using a HEPA filter. The research results of the prototype make it possible to generate the room temperature using a HEPA filter and air humidifier whose average is 27.7°C. Another parameter that is performed is the CO2 measurement, it is found that the average CO2 in the test using a HEPA filter and an air humidifier is 496 PPM.

Abstract

Industrial progress and waste of urban domestic activities have an impact on the Pb heavy metal pollution on the environment, this will have an impact on human health. Pb metal can be overcome with biological methods by utilizing bacteria in reducing Pb metal. The study aimed to obtain the species  of resistant bacterial isolates of Pb metal and determine its characteristics. Sediment and water samples were obtained from the Tallo River. Isolation and selection of Pb metal resistant bacteria were carried out on nutrient agar media is 10 ppm added of PbAgNO3, afterwards the colonies that grew and differed were characterized by morphological morphology and several biochemical tests. The characterization results obtained 8 isolates of Pb metal resistant bacteria consisted of 8 isolates from sediment samples and 3 isolates from water samples. The characteristics of each bacterial isolate on cell morphology are the same and biochemical tests show different results.

Abstract

PT Lotte Chemical Titan Nusantara (PT LCTN) is a Korean Foreign Investment Company in Cilegon City which is a polythylene producing industry. PT LCTN produces waste water into the sea. Wastewater treatment refers to the Decree of the Minister of Environment Number 22 of 2011 on the Permit for Disposal of Wastewater into the Sea of PT Titan Petrokimia Nusantara. Thepurpose of the research is to identify the problem and the improvement step in wastewater treatment. The effectiveness of wastewater treatment  erformance at ETU (Effluent Treatment Unit) in 2015, especially on test parameters such as Total Dissolved Solid, TSS (Total Suspended Solid), Nitrate, Nitrite, BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand). Statistical analysis SPSS Version 22 shows the average value of inlet and outlet there is a difference because the value of trithmetic is smaller than t table. In other words can give a significant influence on theinlet and outlet. Percentage effectiveness of TDS reach 33,33%, TSS reach 91,67%, nitrate reach 25% while for nitrite reach 83,33%.

Abstract

Food sanitation is one of the methods used to protect food from contamination, maintain quality, and prevent potential bacterial transmission. This research was conducted to observe potential diseases caused by the microbiological quality of clean water for household use. MPN method was used to compare the quality of clean water based on the Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Nomor 416 Tahun 1990. Swab method was implemented to observe the hygiene level of the cutlery to compare with the Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Nomor 1098 Tahun 2003. 79/100 ml of total coliform found in tenant 1 and tenant 2 which means it did not meet the standards. Escherichia coli were found absent in both clean water sources. The same result comes from 2 samples of plates and spoons before and after the first usage and second usage. In tenant 2, Escherichia coli were found in plate sample no.1 before usage and the clerk’s hands before serving the food. Hence, it did not meet the standards. Based on the interviews and observations, the sanitation hygiene of the clerks and the physical hygiene of tenant 1 and tenant 2 had only fulfilled 61.9% and 57.1% of proper hygiene, so it needed to be improved.

Abstract

Electrical energy use is an interesting topic because it is related to the operational planning of the distribution system, maintenance of medium voltage networks, and prediction of electricity consumption, especially in  the short term. Trends are created based on historical data represented in the load  curves. This research aims to determine the characteristics of the load by making load groups according to   the type of day and calculate  the load factor based on secondary data from PT. PLN (Persero) Borang substation. The research uses comparative techniques in the load groups and calculates the load factor which is the benchmark for generation  capacity. The results of the study  showed that the load trendon Singkarak feeders in  overall is the same on weekdays as on weekends, namely that  minimum load occurs in the morning at 07.00, the load starts to increase but is not significant in relation to  the activities of the population after 08.00-16.00. The load trend increases significantly from 16.00 to the peak load that occurs at 19.00-21.00 and after that, the load goes down  to the minimum load. The trend  for higher than average peak loads on Mondays is more common and weekend loads on Saturdays and Sundays only relatively small  load fluctuationsoccur.. The load group for religious holidays and national holidays received good load factor scores, with a relatively small range of loads throughout the day.

Abstract

Biodegradable plastic is an alternative to conventional plastic which has been very difficult to degrade and causes environmental pollution. Biodegradable plastic raw materials come from plants or plant wastes, so they are easily degraded by the environment and the utilization of waste becomes more efficient. The general objective of this study is to obtain the characteristics of plastics that meet the standards by varying the concentration of the materials used. This study used Kepok banana hump starch with variations in the concentration of chitosan, sorbitol, and cinnamon oil. The variable used is the ratio of weight of starch and water (1: 5). The concentration of chitosan nanoparticles was 0.25%, 0.5%, and 0.75%, sorbitol concentrations were 2 ml, 4 ml, and 6 ml, and the concentration of cinnamon was 0%, 0.5%, and 1%. Tests carried out are tensile strength, elongation of break, water absorption, and biodegradability. The best tensile strength results are 19.6 MPa, the best elongation is 47.69%, the highest water absorption is 53.77% and the lowest is 22.63%, and the complete degradation takes the longest time of 77 days.

Abstract

The economic development of a country depends on  sustainable energy sources that meet   basic human needs. Government policy on energy conservation is an effort to maintain the stability of energy security that affects the economic development  of a country. Southeast Asia is experiencing rapid economic growth and development, combined with population growth and urbanization, as well as increased access to basic services. This study aimed to determine the seven key factors  considered that shape energy in Southeast Asia. Based on the panel data model, it showed that energy demand in the ASEAN region greatly influences  GDP per capita; demographics  and urbanization; air quality, climate risk, and environmental degradation; energy accessibility, affordability, and security; investment and financial ; as well as energy policies, prices, and regulations.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection  is defined as an acute respiratory disease caused by an infectious agent that is transmitted from human to human. Symptoms include shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, sore throat, fever, wheezing, runny nose, and cough. This research implements CBR to help diagnose ARI. The diagnosis process is done by entering a new problem that contains the symptoms and risk factors that will be diagnosed in the system. The normalized nearest neighbor method with expert confidence is used to calculate the similarity between new problems and cases stored on a case basis. The results of testing the system using 112 case data with 78 case stored in a case base and 34 data used as new cases data, the system has identified four types of ARI disease with a system performance measurement 97.06%.

Abstract

Research on the activation of diatomaceous earth bleachingand its application in the cooking oil industry was made by modifying natural diatomaceous earth with four methods of activation. Activation method 1 and 2 are added with H2SO4 and H2O2 and then heated to 100°C for one hour to method 1, while formethod 2 of diatomaceous earth sample is heated to temperatures reaching 550°C for two hours. On activation method 3 and 4 with the addition of NaOH solution and MnCL2 with 100°C combustion for sample method 3 and 550°C for method 4, which only differentiate the length of combustion time. Reduction in the amount of dye in the cooking oil was done by varying the weight of the absorbent 2.5, 5, 7.5, and 10g and 100°C adsorption temperature, 110°C, 120°C and 130°C. In this research, characterization of adsorbent consisting of natural diatomaceous earth and modified diatomaceous earth. Characterization was done by using instruments Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM-EDAX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) and X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF)
