Abstract

The purpose of this research are to find out: 1) the application of visual media on students’ writing explanation text ability at eleventh grade SMA Negeri 1 Siabu. 2) The students’ writing explanation text before and after using visual media at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Siabu. 3) The significant effect of visual media on the students’ writing explanation text at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Siabu. Method of the research is experimental. The population of this research are all of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Siabu that consist of 171 students. Purposive sampling technique is uses to get the sample of research consist of 31 students. The technique for collecting data are observation sheet and test. The result mean score of the application of visual media is 3.3 categorized “Very Good”. Before using Visual Media is 50. 4 categorized “Low”. Meanwhile, after using Visual Media is 73.8 categorized “Good”. The result of ttest 14.72 and ttable 2.04 it means that there is any significant effect of using Visual Media on students’ writing explanation text ability at eleventh grade SMA Negeri 1 Siabu 2017/2018 Academic Year.

Abstract

The objectives of this research is to know whether there is a significant effect of word chain game on students’ vocabulary mastery at seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Pandan. This research uses experimental method with pre-experimental research design; one group pre-test post-test design. The population is all of the seventh grade students which consist of 96 students. Technique sampling that used on this research is systematic sampling and the number of the sample consists of 30 students. In collecting the data, the researcher uses observation sheet to get the data of the application of word chain game and test to get the data of the students’ vocabulary mastery. The researcher uses statistic process in analyzing by using t test formula. Based on the data that had been analyzed, the result of data analyzing showed that t count is higher than t table (t count 2.33 > t table 2.04). So, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of word chain game on students’ vocabulary mastery at seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Pandan

Abstract

This research was primarily conducted to prove that the combination of Task-Based Learning (TBL) approach and audio visual aids could improve the students’ academic writing skills and to describe the students’ responses after learning academic writing skill through the combination of TBL approach and audio visual aids. This research is Classroom Action Research (CAR), which was performed in two cycles (cycle 1 and cycle 2). Each cycle consisted of four meetings. The subject of the research is the fourth semester students of English Language Education Study Program of Catholic University of Saint Thomas North Sumatera in the Academic Year of 2017/2018. There are 21 students as the subject of the research. The analysis of quantitative data showed that the students’ mean score increased continuously from 66,05 in the pretest, 78,62 in the posttest of cycle 1 to 88,81 in the posttest of cycle 2. The analysis of qualitative data showed that the learning teaching processes of academic writing skill, particularly writing the English essays through the combination of TBL approach and audio visual aids ran very well. The combination of TBL approach and audio visual aids could also increase the students’ interest, motivation and involvement in the classroom activities. It is advisable that teachers or lecturers of English language should try combining TBL approach and audio visual aids to improve their students’ academic writing skills

Abstract

Abstract:The purpose of this research are to find out : 1) the extent of students’ achievement in writing descriptive text taught by using Think Pair Share model at the Tenth Grade Students of SMANegeri1 Pinangsori, 2) the extent of students’ achievement in writing descriptive text taught by using Think Pair Share model at the tenth Grade Students of SMANegeri1 Pinangsori, 3) whether there is a significant comparison study of the students’ in writing descriptive text taught by using model think pair share at the Tenth Grade Students of SMANegeri1 Pinangsori. The population of this research is all of the Eighth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 2 Pinangsori consist of 308 students. The sample was 30 respondents to the experimental class and 30 respondents to the control class which were taken by think pair share . Because the research is conducted to find out the cause effect relationship and to compare the treatments, the research method used is experimental method. Then, the data is collected by using the instrument. The instrument used are rearrangement and fill in the blank test.The hypothesis of this research is there is a significant comparison study of the students’ in writing descriptive text taught before and after by using think pair share the Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Pinangsori.The calculation of ttest formula is higher than score of “t” table. Means, the score of the ttest is 6,17 meanwhile the sore of the ttable is 2,04 at 5% significant level with the effect of using model think pair share (df) 29(ttest6,17>ttable 2,04) and hypothesis accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of model think pair share in writing descriptive text ability at tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 pinangsori. Abstract

Purpose of this research is to know the application of fishbowl method on students’ speaking ability at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Sitahuis 2018/2019 Academic Year, to know the students’ speaking ability before and after using fishbowl method at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Sitahuis 2018/2019 Academic Year, and to know whether there is any significant effect of fishbowl method on students’ speaking ability at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Sitahuis 2018/2019 Academic Year. The research method is use by experimental method. Population in this research is all of the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Sitahuis are 128 students. Sample are 32 students which taken by systematic sampling. Instrument of collecting data use observation sheet and oral test. The result mean of the application of fishbowl method is 3.03, based on the technique of analysis data the criterion of score using fishbowl method with categorized “Good”, the result students’ speaking ability before using fishbowl method is 59.25 categorized “Failing”, while after using fishbowl method is 80.18, it was categorized “Good”, to know the result of the data, the research of analysis data use by formula, the result of is 14.04 meanwhile is 2.04, it means that there is a significant effect of fishbowl method on students’ speaking ability at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Sitahuis 2018/2019 Academic Year or Ha is accepted. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find: 1)the application of Word Square Model. 2) the extent of the students’ Vocabulary Mastery before and after using Word Square Model. 3) whether there is any significant effect of Word Square Model on students’ Vocabulary Mastery at the Eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 1 Saipar Dolok Hole. Method of the ruler was the experimental. The population of this research was all of the Eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Saipar Dolok Hole. It consist 144 students. Systematic sampling technique was uses to get a sample it consist 35 students. The technique for collecting data by observation sheet and giving test. The result mean score of the application of Picture Word Inductive Model was 3.30, it was “Very Good”.The result show value before using Word Square Model was 47,24, it was categorized “Fail”. While the mean score of the students’ Vocabulary Mastery after using Word Square Model was 73.72, it was was categorized “Good”. The result of ttest was 4.80 and ttable was 2.04 it means that there is a significant effect of usingWord SquareModel on students’ Vocabulary Masteryat the Eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Saipar Dolok Hole. Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this research are to know whether there is any significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and students’ reading comprehension at the grade XII students of SMA Negeri 1 Padang Bolak.This research uses descriptive method with pre-test post-test design. The population is all of the twelve grade students which consist of 4 classes with 135 students.Technique sampling that used on this research is simple random sampling and the number of the sample consists of 34 students. In collecting the data, the researcher uses multiple choice test to get the data of the students’ vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension. The researcher uses statistical analysis, the formula that will be used is Pearson formula (correlation of Product Moment). Based on the data analysis, it is found that that rxy (the correlation between x variable and y variable) was 0.363 and rt (r table) product moment df as number (N-nr = 34-2 = 32) is known that there was not number 32 in the table at interval 5%. So, the writer takes the nearest number and it is number 30, it is 0.349. It shows that rxy > rt (0.363 > 0.349). It means there is a significant correlation between vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension at the XII grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Padang Bolak.

Abstract

Abstract: The aims of the research is to know the application of take and give strategy on students tenses mastery at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola barat, to know before and after use take and give strategy at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat, and to know whether there is any significant effect of take and give strategy on students tenses mastery at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat 2017/2018 Academic Year. The population in this research is all of the tenth grade students are 198. The sample are 33 students which taken by systematic sampling. The research method is use by experimental method. Collecting the data by observation sheet and test as an instrument. The result mean score of the application take and give strategy is 3.7, based on the technique of analysis data the criterion of score take and give with categorized “Very Good”. To know the result of the data, the researcher analysis data by use the formula of ttest. The result of the data analysis show that of ttest = 9.82,meanwhile ttable 2.03. It means that ttest is higher than ttable. So, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that there is significant effect of take and give strategy on students tenses mastery at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat. Keywords: Take and Give Strategy, Tenses Mastery

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find: 1)the application of concept sentence model. 2) the extent of the students’ Achiement in Writing persuasive paragraph before and after using Concept sentence model. 3) whether there is any significant effect of concept sentence model on students’ achievement in writing persuasive paragraph at the X grade of SMK Negeri 1 Sarudik. Method of the ruler was the experimental. The population of this research was all of the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Sarudik. It consist 109 students. Purposive sampling technique was uses to get a sample it consist 30 students. The technique for collecting data by observation sheet and giving test. The result mean score of the application of Concept Sentence Model was 3.8, it was “Very Good”.The result show score before using concept sentence model was 59.3 categorized “Fail”. While the mean score of the students’ achievement in writing persuasive paragraph after using concept sentence model was 68.46 categorized “Enough”. The result of ttest was 12.33 and ttable was 2.04 it means that there is a significant effect of using Concept Sentence Model on students’ achievement in writing persuasive paragraph at the tenth grade students of SMK Negeri 1 Sarudik 2017/2018 Academic Year)

Abstract

Abstract:The aim of this research is to find out: 1) The application of community language learning model on students’ speaking ability, 2) The students’ speaking ability before and after using community language learning model, and 3) Whether there is a significant effect of community language learning model on students’ speaking ability. The population of this research is all the tenth grade, they are 248 students. The writer will use systematic sampling. The total sampling is 35 students. The writer uses experimental method. To collect the data, the writer uses observation and test. In analysis the result of the test, the researcher use ttest. After collecting the data, the result of this research are the application of community language learning model on students’ speaking ability is 3.6. It is categorized “Very Good”. The students’ speaking ability before community language learning model is 78.51. It is categorized “Good”. The students’ speaking after community language learning model is 83,42 It is categorized “Very Good”. The calculation of ttest formula is 7.15. The table score of ttable 5% significant level df it is 35, the result is 2.03. It is found that t0 calculation is bigger than ttable (3,92 > 2.03). It means that there is a significant effect of community language learning model on students’ speaking ability at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 5 Padangsidimpuan.
