Abstract

The objectives of this research are to find out: 1) The extent of the application of round robin strategy in teaching writing recount text at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Pinangsori, 2) The extent of students’ writing recount text ability before and after using round robin strategy at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Pinangsori, 3) Whether there is a significant effect of round robin strategy on students’ writing recount text ability at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Pinangsori. These research experimental method by pre-experimental design; one group pre-test post-test design. The population of this reserach is all of the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Pinangsori which consists of 284 students. The technique of sampling that used in this research is systematic sampling and the number of the sample consists of 30 students. In collecting the data, the researcher uses observation sheet to get the data of the application round robin strategy and test used to get the data of the recount text. The researcher uses statistical accounting to analysis the data by using ttest formula. Before using the round robin strategy the mean of score is 59.75 it is criterion as “Enough” while after using the round robin strategy the mean of score is 73 and it is categorized “Good”. Based on the data that had been analyzed, the result of the research showed that ttest is higher than ttable (ttest is 3.34 > ttable is 2.04) at 5% significances level with degree of freedom (df). It means that, there is a significant effect of round robin strategy on students’ writing recount text ability at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Pinangsori in 2018/2019 Academic Year. So, the hypothesis is accepted.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aims to know the students’ speaking English performance at the second semester of English department in Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan, the students’ errors in speaking English performance at the second semester of English department in Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan, and factors do the make students’ error in speaking English performance at the second semester of English department in Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. The methodof this research is qualitative method. The data were gathered through triangulation, that is observation, interview and documentation at the second semester of English department in Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. the writer conducted the observation in one class. The data were analyzed by data display, data reduction, and conclusion using some theories.The results are 1) The students’ speaking English performance is bad 2) The students’ speaking errors are in pronunciation are 57.35%, grammar are 23.52%, vocabulary are 4.415, and fluency are 14.70% but the most dominant errors with found in pronunciation. 3) the dominant factors which caused linguistic Keywords: Speaking English Performance, at the Second Semester of English Department in Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui lebih luas bagaimana speaking English performance yang digunakan oleh mahasiswa semester dua program studi bahasa inggris di institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan, Apa saja kesalahan yang dibuat mahasiswa di dalam speaking English performance di semester dua program studi bahasa inggris di Intstitut Pendididkan Tapanuli Selatan, dan apa penyebab kesalahan mahasiswa membuat kesalahan dalam speaking English performance di semester dua program studi bahasa inggris program studi bahasa inggris di Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. Penelitian ini di lakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Data didapatkan melalui triangulasi, yaitu observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi kepada mahasiswa semester dua program studi bahsa inggris di Institut Pendidikan Tapanuli Selatan. Data yang didapatkan menggunakan data display, data reduksi, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil dari praktik mahasiswa dalam berbicara bahasa inggris adalah kesalahan dalam pengucapan kata 57.35, tata bahasa 23.52, kosakata 4.41, kepasihan 14.70, akan tetapi kesalahan yang dominant adalah pengucapan kata. Abstract

The purposes of this research are to know: 1) the application of Story Telling Method in teaching speaking at the Seventh Grade Students of SMP Negeri 2 Satap Lumut. 2) the students’ speaking ability before and after using Story Telling Method at the Seventh Grade of SMP Negeri 2 Satap Lumut. 3) whether there is a significant effect of students’ speaking ability after using Story Telling Method at the Seventh Grade of SMP Negeri 2 Satap Lumut. Method of the research was experimental. The population of this research was the Seventh Grade of SMP Negeri 2 Satap Lumut. It consists of 42 students. Total sampling was the sampling technique in this research to get sample. It consists of 42 students. The technique of collecting data were observation sheet and test. The result mean score of the application story telling method was 3.8, it was categorized “Very Good”. The result showed score before using story telling method was 40.8, it was categorized “Fail”. While the mean score of the students’ speaking ability after using story telling method was 60.4, it was categorized “Enough”. The result of ttest was 15.95 and ttable was 2.02. It means that there is a significant effect of using story telling method on students’ speaking ability at the Seventh Grade of SMP Negeri 2 Satap Lumut.

Abstract

Abstract: The aims of this research are to know: 1) The extent of the application of Chinese Whisper Game in teaching five basic tenses at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Selatan, 2) The extent of the students’ five basic tenses mastery before and after taught by using Chinese Whisper Game at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Selatan, 3) Whether any significant effect of Chinese Whisper Game on students’ five basic tenses mastery at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Selatan. The population of this research is all of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Selatan which consist of 97 students. Sample were 35 students which taken by using purposive sampling. The research method that used was experimental method. To collect the data the writer used observation sheet and test as an instrument. The mean score of the application of Chinese Whisper Game was 3.1, it was categorized “Very good”. The result of data analysis shows that ttest=9.24 while ttable=2.03. it means that ttest is higher than ttable. So, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that there is significant effect of Chinese Whisper Game on students’ five basic tenses mastery at the eleventh grade students SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Selatan. Keywords: Chinese Whisper Game, Five Basic Tenses Mastery Abstrak: Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui 1) pengaplikasian dari Chinese Whisper Game 2) untuk mengetahui sejauh mana penguasaan lima tenses dasar siswa 3) untuk mengetahui apakah ada efek yang signifikan dari Chinese Whisper Game terhadap penguasaan lima tenses dasar siswa di kelas sebelas SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Selatan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas sebelas yang terdiri dari 97 orang. Sampelnya adalah 35 siswa yang diambil melalui sampling purposive. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental. Untuk mengumpulkan data peneliti menggunakan lembar observasi dan tes sebagai instrumennya. Nilai rata-rata dari pengaplikasian Chinese Whisper Game adalah 3.1, dikategorikan “Sangat bagus”. Hasil dari analisis data menunjukkan bahwa ttest=9.24 while ttable=2.03. Itu berarti ttest lebih besar dari ttable. Hipotesis diterima. Itu berarti ada efek yang signifikan dari Chinese Whisper Game terhadap penguasaan lima tenses dasar siswa kelas 11 SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Selatan. Abstract

Abstract: The purposes of this research are to find out: 1) The application of Mingle Game in teaching speaking descriptive text, 2) Students’ speaking descriptive text ability before and after using Mingle Game, 3) whethere there is a significant effect of using Mingle Game at the seventh grade students of SMP Swasta Sariputra. Method of this research is experimental method. The population of this research are all of the seventh grade students of SMP Swasta Sariputra that consists of 62 students. Systematic sampling technique is used to get the sample of research, the sample consist of 31 students. The technique for collecting data are observation sheet and test. The result of the application of mingle game is 3.6, it is categorized “Very Good”. Before using mingle game is 38.29, it is categorized “Fail”. Meanwhile, after using mingle game is 63.75, it is categorized “Enough”. The result of ttest is 12.02 and t table is 2.04, it means that there is a significant effect of using mingle game on students’ speaking descriptive text ability at the seventh grade students of SMP Swasta Sariputra in 2018/2019 Academic Year.

Abstract

Abstract: The aims of the research is to know the application of riddles games on students vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan, to know before and after use riddles games on students vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan, and to know whether there is any significant effect of riddles games on students vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan 2018/2019 Academic Year. The population in this research is all of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan are 340. The sample are 32 students which taken by purposive sampling. The research method is use by experimental method. Collecting data by observation sheet and test as an instrument. The result mean score of the application riddles games is 3.3, based on the technique of analysis data the criterion of score riddles games with categorized “Very Good”. To know the result of the data, the researcher analysis data by use the formula of ttest. The result of data analysis show that of ttest = 15.5, meanwhile ttable 2.04. It means that ttest is higher than ttable. So, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that there is significant effect of riddles games on students vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Padangsidimpuan. Keywords: Riddles Games, Vocabulary Mastery

Abstract

Abstract: The aims of this research are to find out: 1). The Description of the Students’ errors in writing Analytical Exposition Text. 2). The causes of students Errors in Using Modal Auxiliaries in Writing Analytical Exposition Text. The research was conducted by using mix method (quantitative and qualitative research) with 5 students as the informants. Sample was taken by using purposive sampling. The test, interview and documentation were used in colecting data. The causes of the students errors in used modal auxiliaries in writing analytical exposition text is low interest, low disipline, lazy, lack vocabulary, low motivation, attitude and bad habbits. Furthermore, students interest was found as well in this research. The how they writing modal auxiliaries in students writing analytical exposition text from analized text students analytical exposition text, the writer found that many students are less comprehension about used of modal auxiliaries.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to know whether there is a significant correlation between passive voice mastery and writing report text ability at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tukka. The research was conducted by using descriptive method with 36 students as the sample and they were taken by using purposive sampling technique from 71 students. Test was used in collecting the data. Based on descriptive analysis, it could be found: a) The description of the students’ passive voice mastery at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tukka is categorized “good”, it can be seen from the mean score of the students, that is 78. b)The description of the writing report text at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tukka is categorized “good”, it can be seen from the mean score of the students, that is 79. c) The hypothesis in this research was accepted. It means that “There is a significant correlation of passive voice mastery and writing report text ability at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tukka”. It can be seen from the rxy (0.626) is greater than the score of rtable (0.270) or 0.626 > 0.3291 at 5% level of significant.

Abstract

Abstrak: The objective of this research is to know whether there is a significant effect of using graphic media on Students’ Writing Explanation Text Ability at Tenth Grade Students of YPP Baitur Rahman. Method of this research is experimental method with the experimental research design; one group pre-test and post-test design. The population are all of the tenth grade students which consist of 65 students. Technique sampling that used on this research is purposive sampling and the number of the sample consists of 28 students. In collecting the data, the writer uses observation sheet to get the data of the application of graphic media and test to get the data of students’ writing explanation text. writer uses statistic process in analyzing by using t test formula. Based on the data that has been analyzed, the result of analyzed data showed that t test is higher than t table (t test 17.79 > t table 2.05), and the hypothesis is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of graphic media on Students’ Writing Explanation Text Ability at Tenth Grade Students of YPP Baitur Rahman.

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to know whether there is a significant effect of the using picture and picture model on students’ writing ability in procedure text to the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Timur. The research was conducted by using experimental method (pretest posttest one group design) with 69 students as the sample and they were taken by using cluster sampling technique from 102 students. Test and observation were used in collecting the data. Based on descriptive analysis, it could be found (a) the average of the using picture and picture model was 2.90 (good category) and b) the average of students’ writing ability in procedure text before using picture and picture model was 69.49 (enough category) and after using picture and picture model was 77.01 (good category). Furthermore, based on inferential statistic by using ttest one tail, it could be found ttable was less than ttest (9.05 > 1.667). It means, there is a significant effect of the using of picture and picture model on the writing’ ability in procedure text to the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Timur. Keywords:Picture and picture model and writing procedure text Abstrak: Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan model gambar dan gambar terhadapkemampuan menulis siswateks proceduredi kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Timur. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan desain penelitian pra-eksperimental; satu kelompok pre-test post-test design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas sepuluh yang terdiri dari 102 siswa.Teknik sampling yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah cluster sampling dan jumlah sampel terdiri dari 69 siswa. Dalam mengumpulkan data, peneliti menggunakan lembar observasi untuk mendapatkan data dalam penggunaan model pembelajaran gambar dan gambar dan tes untuk mendapatkan data kemampuan siswa dalam menulis procedure text. Peneliti menggunakan proses statistik dalam menganalisis dengan menggunakan rumus uji t. Berdasarkan data yang telah dianalisis, hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa t hitung lebih tinggi dari ttabel >ttest (9.05 > ttabel 1,667). Jadi, hipotesis diterima. Ini berarti ada pengaruh signifikan penggunaan model pembelajaran gambar dan gambar terhadap terhadap kemampuan menulis siswateks proceduredi kelas X SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Timur. Kata kunci: model pembelajaran gambar dan gambar, procedure teks.
