Abstract

A hepatoprotector is a compound that can protect the liver from damage caused by toxic substances and facilitates the repair of liver tissue. Liver damage can be indicated by increased elevated levels of the enzymes SGOT (Serum Glutamic Oxaloacetic Transaminase) and SGPT (Serum Glutamic Pyruvic Transaminase). Binahong leaves (Anredera cordifolia) contain flavonoid compounds that have potential as hepatoprotective agents. This study aimed to evaluate the activity of binahong leaf infusion on SGOT and SGPT levels in white rats induced with paracetamol. This was an experimental study using a post-test group design involving 25 rats divided into five groups: a negative control group (0.5% CMC), a positive control group (Hepamax at a dose of 11.81 mg/200 g BW), and treatment groups I, II, and III, which received binahong leaf infusion at doses of 100 mg/200 g BW, 200 mg/200 g BW, and 300 mg/200 g BW, respectively, for 7 days orally. Subsequently, all groups were induced with paracetamol at a dose of 270 mg/200 g BW for 1 day. Analysis of SGOT and SGPT levels using One-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) followed by Duncan’s test. The results showed that administration of binahong leaf infusion at 300 mg/200 g BW (Group III) produced the most significant reduction in liver enzyme levels. The average SGPT level in Group III was 63.2 U/L, and SGOT was 26.4 U/L. These results were statistically significantly different compared to the negative control group (p < 0.05) and demonstrated effectiveness approaching that of the positive control (Hepamax). Abstract

Abstract This research aimed to test and compare the analgesic effectiveness of n-hexane and ethanol extracts of papaya leaves in mice (Mus musculus) at doses of 400 mg/kgBB and 800 mg/kgBB. Maceration extraction resulted in a yield of 5.06% (n-hexane) and 8.5% (ethanol). Phytochemical screening showed that both extracts were positive for flavonoids and steroids. The analgesic test was conducted using the acetic acid induction method by observing the number of writhing movements. The test groups included a negative control, a positive control (mefenamic acid), and n-hexane and ethanol extracts at the two aforementioned doses. The results showed that all extract groups significantly reduced writhing compared to the negative control (p<0.05). The percentage of protection for n-hexane was 69.44% (400 mg) and 74.12% (800 mg), while ethanol achieved 83.5% (400 mg) and 88.56% (800 mg). The positive control provided 97.23% protection. ANOVA demonstrated a significant difference between the groups (p=0.000). Post hoc tests confirmed that the 800 mg/kgBB ethanol extract was the most effective among the tested extracts, with no significant difference from the positive control. Abstract

Minyak goreng bekas merupakan produk limbah rumah tangga yang berpotensi mencemari lingkungan jika tidak dimanfaatkan kembali. Di sisi lain, krokot (Portulaca oleracea L.) merupakan gulma yang mengandung metabolit sekunder seperti saponin yang memiliki aktivitas antibakteri. Penggunaan kedua bahan ini sebagai sabun cair antibakteri merupakan alternatif yang bermanfaat untuk meningkatkan kebersihan dan mengurangi pencemaran lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi konsentrasi ekstrak etanol krokot terhadap kualitas fisik sabun cair dan aktivitas antibakterinya terhadap Staphylococcus aureus. Sabun cair dibuat dalam tiga formula dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak krokot (10%, 15%, dan 20%). Evaluasi formula meliputi uji organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, berat jenis, uji aktivitas antibakteri menggunakan metode difusi sumur, dan uji saponin kualitatif. Semua formula memiliki karakteristik organoleptik yang serupa: aroma mawar, warna hijau muda, tekstur lembut, dan homogenitas yang baik. pH berkisar antara 5,5–6,25, dan berat jenis 1,03–1,09 g/mL memenuhi standar sabun cair. Formula III (ekstrak 20%) menunjukkan aktivitas penghambatan tertinggi terhadap Staphylococcus aureus pada diameter 23 mm, termasuk dalam kategori kuat. Formula I dan II menunjukkan aktivitas penghambatan lemah. Kata kunci: Sabun cair antibakteri, minyak goreng bekas, krokot (Portulaca oleracea L.), Staphylococcus aureus, dan saponin.
