Abstract

Cottonwood is one of the local commodities that have been cultivated by the community. This is interesting in the selection of kapok as a symbol of Pasuruan Regency which shows one of the main examples and economic support for the community. Kapok Pasuruan production contributed 29.8% of the total production of East Java, namely 25.288 tons. The increasing presence of synthetic fibers drives demand for fiber from kapok cottonwood so farmers are reluctant to increase cottonwood trees more intensively and do not need to cut down to replace other commodities. This if left unchecked will further decrease, kapok production and extinction can occur. This study aims to identified internal and external factors in kapok agribusiness and develop alternative development strategies using the SWOT method. The results showed that several strategies S-O, W-O, S-T and W-T.

Abstract

Spodoptera litura (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) larvae are polyphagous insects whose populations cause damage to various types of plantations, horticulture, and food so that control efforts need to be done. One way to control the environment of environmentally friendly S. litura larvae is to use a plant-based insecticide, a mixture of A. squamosa leaf extract and C. domestica rhizome (test extract appendix). The purpose of this study was to determine the subletal effect of the test extract mixture on S. litura larvae, namely the duration of larvae and pupae stage, pupae weight, morphology and imago viability, and the ability of female imago to lay eggs to produce offspring. The test was carried out by the method of feed dip into the test extract mixture. Data on pupae weight were analyzed with ANOVA, followed by Duncan's further test with a 5% confidence level using SPSS 21 program. The results showed that the test extract mixture extended the stages of larvae and pupae, reduced pupa weight, imago wings did not develop fully, reduced imago size, and did not imago able to produce eggs. The results of this study could then be further tested on a greenhouse scale and photochemical analysis of a test extract mixture to determine bioactive compounds that act as plant-based insecticides.

Abstract

Mexican sunflower or paitan in Indonesian (Thitonia diversifolia L) is a weed with high biomass production with nutrient quality that potentially use as composting material. However, there were problem for for optimize composting process due to low C/N ratio and high moisture content of this material. Therefore co-composting with higher C/N ratio and low moisture bulking materials to attain a proper composting process. Research to (1) Evaluate the effect of raw rice husk (RRH) and rice husk charcoal (RHC) as bulking agent on quality of compost T.diversifolia. Two composting mixture were TRRH = biomass T. Diversifolia + raw rice husk and TRHC = T. diversifolia biomass + rice husk biochar. Data were analyzed descriptively and compared with National Standards of Organic Fertilizer SNI 19-7030-2004. (2) To Compare the effect TRRH and TRHC compost on growth and yield of pakchoi (Brassica rapa var chinensis). Plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, edible and total fresh weight and N uptake analyzed with ANOVA and mean diference with Tukey/HSD test. The results showed that (1) T.diversifolia L compost has nutritional quality of N, P, K in accordance with SNI 19-7030-2004, but the levels of N, P and K in TRHC > TRRH. (2) TTRH.40 planting media gave maximum growth and yield of pakchoy compared to other treatments. The study confirms that composting T.diversifolia L biomass were potential to enhance pakchoi production while promoting cultivation of vegetables for food security.

Abstract

Agrotourism is a part of the tourist attraction that utilizes agricultural business as a tourist attraction. This study aims to compare financial feasibility studies on several agrotourism in Indonesia. The study about financial feasibility needs to be done as a material consideration in making a business decision. The method used a literature study for secondary data collection from several journals including NPV, IRR and Net B/C Ratio. This study reviews five agrotourism, that relates with cost-benefit analysis, including Kebun Buah Mangunan agrotourism, Kampung Budaya Sidangbarang agrotourism, Bukit Ganjau agrotourism, Bina Darma agrotourism, and Jamu Ramuan Madura agrotourism. The results of this study were obtained at Jamu Ramuan Madura agrotourism that was the most feasible with an NPV value of Rp. 13,979,701,973.49, - IRR of 30.52%, and Net B/C Ratio of 10.22 which indicated this agrotourism was feasible to run. This agrotourism is the most feasible because it has the highest value among the five other agrotourism. Kampung Budaya Sidangbarang agrotourism is the lowest feasibility level because it has an NPV value of Rp. 597,264,637.59, - with a Net B/C value of 1.60 and an IRR of 15.13%. Based on this, it is expected that the results of this study can become a reference for tourism developers to see the potential of agrotourism in areas that have the best financial viability.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how farmers' attitudes towards the implementation of integrated crop management (SLPTT) field schools towards increasing paddy rice production and its relationship with farmer rice productivity. The research method uses a descriptive quantitative approach, the method of data analysis uses variance analysis and to distinguish differences between groups using the Tukey test because the number of variables is more than two. The results of the processing and analysis of research data show that the average farmer has a positive attitude or response to the implementation of the SLPTT (average attitude score of 76.47%) and an increase in farmer's rice production by 16.39% (up 0.73 tons/ha of dry unhusked rice), from 4.48 tons/ha milled dry grain to 5.2 tons/ha milled dry rice). The results of statistical tests show that there is a positive correlation/relationship between all indicators of farmer's attitude and the productivity produced. The highest correlation is obtained from the indicator 'training method' with the correlation criteria 'close to perfect', the correlation coefficient value is 0.900. Overall attitudes of farmers towards implementing SLPTT have a weak positive correlation (correlation coefficient value 0.145) with lowland rice productivity. Farmer rice productivity increased but the production achieved was still below the NTB province's target of 5.42 tons/ha of dry milled rice with an increase in production of 0.5-1.0 tons/ha dry milled rice or 4.77%.

Abstract

Rice is one of the food crop commodities that plays an important role in meeting the primary needs of the Indonesian people. The high demand for rice can be seen from the increase in the amount of public consumption of these commodities. The basic method used in this research is the literature study method and the library method. The results showed that factors affecting the production of rice farming in Indonesia with various conditions were land area, fertilizer costs, pesticides, labor, seeds / seeds, age, capital; and counseling. The dominant influencing factor is land area factor. In general, things that are most likely to become production risks are natural disasters, weather and climate, pests, topology, and capital. It is known that there are differences in the risk of rice production between cropping patterns. The risk of rice farming can also be seen from an income perspective, one of the variables that has a significant positive effect on the risk of rice farming income is land area. For the two main stakeholders (farmers and insurance companies), the level of risk is also the basis for the implementation of AUTP. Risk management of rice farming must be adjusted based on a risk perspective. In the internal aspect, risks can be anticipated through increasing the capacity of farmers. On the external aspect, risks are still possible to be overcome through AUTP. The government can take a role in the aspect of capacity building for farmers and optimizing the downstreaming of the AUTP program so that it is right on target.

Abstract

Bacterial leaf blight caused by Pantoea ananatis in onions is a new disease in Indonesia. Information regarding the level of virulence of these pathogens in onion plants is unknown. This study aims to determine the level of virulence of P. ananatis isolates in onion plants originating from Cirebon, Tegal, Nganjuk, Bantul, and Sigi districts. The study was conducted by an experimental method using 150 pathogen isolates and 4 onion cultivars in a greenhouse from 5 regions. Experimental data were analyzed descriptively with the help of image and table views. The results showed that all pathogenic isolates had the same level of virulence (uniform) and were very virulent against 4 cultivars of obese bima, blue rice fields, bauji, and palasa. All of these isolates gave the same response to the fast incubation period (2.35 - 2.90 days), the percentage of leaves that were heavily attacked (67.44 - 81.76%), and a high infection rate (> 0.5 units per day).
