Abstract

Many students still face difficulties in learning mathematics, especially in plane geometry materials that require strong visualization skills. To overcome these obstacles, teaching materials are needed that can support the visual representation process and facilitate students' learning needs. This study aims to analyze and develop a plane geometry e-module (EDUNTAR) based on Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) using a valid, practical, and effective flipbook format as a learning medium. This research is a development research with the ADDIE model, involving fourth-grade students as trial subjects. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and tests using expert validation instruments, practicality sheets, and learning outcome tests. Data analysis was carried out quantitatively and qualitatively. The validation results showed that EDUNTAR was in the very valid category, with a score of 94.64% from material experts and 97.91% from teaching material experts. The practicality test obtained a score of 100% from teachers and 99.10% from students, indicating a very practical category. The effectiveness test showed that EDUNTAR was able to improve students' understanding of plane geometry materials. Thus, it can be concluded that the EDUNTAR e-module based on the CRT approach is suitable for use, supports a more meaningful learning process, and has the potential to strengthen students' visualization abilities and understanding of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

The use of inappropriate learning models in the learning process can cause students to become less active. This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing a cooperative learning model of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) type on the learning outcomes of students in grades IVA and IVB of Elementary School. This study uses a quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach and is included in the experimental research category. The study population consisted of all 24 students of grade IVA as the experimental group and 22 students of IVB as the control class. Data collection techniques were carried out through validity tests, reliability tests, hypothesis tests with independent sample t-tests. The results of the study showed that there was a significant increase in student learning outcomes between the experimental class and the control class. Seen from the post-test results obtained by class IVA (Experiment) with an average value of 80.29 while class IVB (Control) obtained an average value of 67.41 thus the value obtained by the experimental class has exceeded the Minimum Completion Criteria of 75. This is based on the results of the hypothesis test using the independent sample t-test obtained a sign value. (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05, it can be continued that there is an influence between the experimental class using the Teams Games Tournament model which has a significant influence on the learning outcomes in grade IV of Elementary School.

Abstract

The suboptimal use of technology in learning has contributed to low levels of students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills, particularly in elementary mathematics instruction. This condition indicates the need for innovative learning media that systematically facilitate higher-order thinking processes. This study aims to develop, analyze the feasibility, practicality, and examine the effectiveness of a problem-solving–based electronic student worksheet (e-LKPD) supported by a website for teaching addition and subtraction of integers to fourth-grade elementary students. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which consists of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The research subjects included elementary school students and teachers as users of the developed product. Data were collected through expert validation involving content, language, and media specialists to assess feasibility, student and teacher response questionnaires to evaluate practicality, and pretests and posttests to measure effectiveness. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive quantitative and inferential techniques, including N-gain analysis. The results indicate that the developed e-LKPD is categorized as highly feasible and highly practical, and it effectively improves students’ learning outcomes as well as their critical thinking skills. These findings suggest that problem-solving based e-LKPD supported by a website can serve as an innovative alternative learning medium that promotes meaningful mathematics learning in elementary education.

Abstract

Science learning in elementary schools often faces challenges in helping students understand abstract concepts in an engaging and interactive way. This study aims to analyze trends in publications related to the use of Augmented Reality (AR) in elementary science learning and to visualize research developments in this field. The study employs a descriptive bibliometric analysis, with data sourced from the Scopus database. The research stages include identification, screening, eligibility, and inclusion, resulting in 66 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The analysis shows that AR research in science learning has been conducted widely, with the most frequent keywords being “Augmented Reality,” “Elementary School,” and “Science Learning.” Furthermore, emerging promising themes include educational computing, educational games, and 3D animation. Publication trends indicate a decline in the number of articles in recent years, although certain earlier years had significant influence on the development of research in this field. The study concludes that AR has great potential to enhance student engagement, clarify concept understanding, and develop 21st century skills. The implications of this research highlight the importance of further exploration of AR applications in science learning, as well as opportunities for innovative research on emerging themes.

Abstract

The limited understanding of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) approach among elementary school teachers poses a challenge in creating innovative and meaningful learning. This study aims to describe elementary school teachers’ knowledge of STEM and the factors influencing it based on teacher status. The research employed a quantitative descriptive approach with a sample of 60 teachers, consisting of 30 guru penggerak and 30 guru non-penggerak, selected using multistage sampling and stratified random sampling techniques. Data were collected through knowledge tests and questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results show that elementary school teachers’ knowledge of STEM in Buleleng District is at a moderate level, with average scores of 58% for guru penggerak and 44% for guru non-penggerak, while the main factors influencing their knowledge are learning motivation (78%), personal experience (71.5%), and level of education (68.4%). The study concludes that efforts to enhance teachers’ STEM capacity need to be carried out evenly, regardless of teacher status. The implication is that schools and policymakers should provide continuous training, adequate facilities, and learning support to strengthen elementary school teachers’ STEM competencies.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine whether and how the Interactive Literacy Resource (IPR) Snakes and Ladders influenced fourth grade students' performance in Pancasila subject, focusing on the Rights and Duties unit. Traditional teaching methods and lack of engaging educational media have long been blamed for students' poor performance in class. Using a pre-test, post-test, and control group design model, this survey served as a quasi-experimental study. The 38 students who participated in this study were divided into two groups. One group used the Snakes and Ladders Literacy Game Media as an experimental tool, while the other group continued to use more conventional teaching methods. Learning outcome tests, observation sheets and interview guides were some of the instruments used in this study. The results showed that the experimental group achieved significantly better learning outcomes compared to the control group. Compared to the control group's average post-test score of 71.95, the experimental group's was 88.53. The significant difference in learning outcomes between the two groups was shown by the significance value of the independent sample t-test of 0.000 <0.05. In addition, the N-Gain score was significantly higher in the experimental group (70.58%) than the control group (24.48%). Taking all factors into consideration, these findings prove that the educational game Snakes and Ladders is of great interest to students and helps them learn in a fun and interesting way. Therefore, we propose this learning tool as a substitute for teaching Pancasila in primary schools.

Abstract

Early literacy is a fundamental foundation in children’s cognitive development that plays a crucial role in shaping reading and writing skills in primary education. However, literacy learning practices in elementary schools tend to remain conventional and have not widely integrated local wisdom that can enrich students’ learning experiences. This study aims to analyze the strengthening of early literacy through collage-based learning grounded in the Tri-N  local wisdom approach, namely Niteni, Nirokke, and Nambahi, in elementary school learning. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. The research subjects consisted of elementary school teachers and students involved in Tri-N -based collage learning activities. Data were collected through observations, interviews, and analysis of learning documents, using observation guidelines, interview guides, and document analysis sheets as research instruments. Data were analyzed using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through technique and source triangulation as well as member checking. The results indicate that Tri-N -based collage learning can enhance students’ early literacy skills, particularly in reading, writing, creativity, and active engagement in the learning process. The integration of local wisdom in collage media also helps students understand cultural values and appreciate diversity. The implications of this study suggest that integrating creative activities based on local wisdom can serve as an effective pedagogical strategy to develop contextual early literacy and can be used as a reference for developing more meaningful and sustainable literacy learning models in elementary schools.

Abstract

Many elementary students struggle to connect mathematical concepts with real-life financial situations, limiting their ability to make informed financial decisions. Mathematics instruction at this level often lacks socio-economic relevance, making it less meaningful for learners. This study aims to analyze and describe the integration of financial literacy into contextual mathematics learning through the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model, enriched by the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) approach and Tri-N values (Niteni, Nirokke, Nambahi). Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research involved sixth-grade students and a classroom teacher. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation of student projects, and assessments of student attitudes, and were analyzed thematically. The results show that the “Masak Pintar” project enhanced students’ understanding of mathematical concepts, improved budgeting skills, and fostered character values such as responsibility, empathy, and honesty. The STEAM approach enriched the learning process through interdisciplinary integration, while the Tri-N philosophy strengthened reflective learning grounded in local cultural values. This study concludes that the integrated learning model is an effective and innovative strategy for holistically developing students’ academic competence, financial skills, and 21st-century competencies at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of improving teachers' teaching skills in line with the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, which demands more adaptive and student-centered learning. This study aims to analyze the impact of the Independent Curriculum training on improving the teaching skills of elementary school teachers. This study uses a qualitative, descriptive approach to explore in-depth changes in teacher competency after participating in the training. The research subjects consisted of the principal and several teachers directly involved in the training. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation techniques, using observation guidelines, interview guides, questionnaires, and documentation as research instruments. The data obtained were analyzed using an interactive analysis model that includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the Independent Curriculum training can improve teachers' skills in designing and implementing differentiated learning, applying flexible learning strategies, and managing classes more effectively. The conclusions of this study confirm that the training makes a positive contribution to teacher professionalism. The implications of this study indicate the need to strengthen ongoing training programs to support improvements in the quality of learning that is more responsive to student needs.

Abstract

Learning outcomes in science, particularly on ecosystem content, often remain low due to the limited use of contextual and culturally relevant learning media. Students tend to experience superficial understanding when instructional materials fail to connect with their local environment and lived experiences. This study aims to analyze the design, evaluate the validity and practicality, and examine the effectiveness of a local-content comic based on the Legend of I Macan Bali to enhance the science learning outcomes of grade V students. This research employed the ADDIE development model encompassing analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The subjects consisted of experts, education practitioners, and 15 students as the trial sample, while the object of the study was students’ science learning outcomes. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and tests, supported by validated instruments. Data analysis used a paired-sample t-test to measure the effectiveness of the developed media. The results indicate that the comic media achieved high validity, demonstrated practical use in classroom settings, and produced a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes. The study concludes that integrating local cultural elements into instructional media not only strengthens conceptual understanding but also nurtures cultural awareness. These findings imply that teachers should meaningfully incorporate local wisdom into learning resources to create more engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences.
