Abstract

This research study aims at explaining the way in which supply chain performance can be improved by agile supply chain strategy. The phenomenon has been studied from theoretical perspective. A key aspect is the complementary association between supply chain practices and supply chain strategy. It has been suggested that agile supply chain strategy can be supported by specific supply chain practices through a positive relation between supply chain performance and agile supply chain strategy. The second aspect is the firm’s information processing. Through this aspect, it can be examined whether the agile capability of information system improves the influence of supply chain practices as a mediator. The study has used the survey-based methodology to achieve the objective of the current study. The data is collected from the manufacturing firms in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The benefits of supply chain practices have been enhanced through IS capability by the creation of match between the abilities and needs of information processing. The influence of supply chain practices as a mediator between the relation of supply chain performance and agile supply chain is improved with ‘information system capability for agility. The relation between supply chain performance and agile supply chain strategy is positively mediated when the firm can deliver a range of products quickly. In order to deliver the required number of products, it is important to forecast the demand in an accurate way.

Abstract

This paper gives an overview of the theory and practice of planning and scheduling in supply chains. For this purpose it seeks to solve the problem of loading the machines in the electronic production plant at Al-Zawra General Company, in the case of having more than one order at the same time, one of them within the overall plan (MPS), which in turn was the result of "the overall planning using its various strategies and other sudden orders and emergency outside the total plan, which is forced to work overtime and regular and how to deal whit hit within the rules of scheduling production processes in the foggy environment. The goal of the research is to find a mechanism for working in the plant in case the three levels of total planning progresses, and which begins with forecasting the demand in the foggy environment, and fixing them in order to obtain accurate results to build on them the overall plan in preparing the necessary resources for production according to the product structure (BOM) reaching to scheduling different fixed and working operations using scheduling rules on one machine (FCFS, LPT, SPT), in addition to identifying a mechanism that works regularly on the distribution of orders on the business through the fixed and multiple scheduling in the foggy environment and choosing the optimal strategy for action. In order to achieve this, the researcher used the MATLAB in designing the databases using two types of artificial intelligence algorithms (TOPSIS, SPEAII), which provide multiple decision-making criteria through which she could find the best solution for the sequential work on machines, which reduced the time of achievement and reduced the four kinds of costs which are (cost of production, cost of scheduling, cost of storage, cost of subcontractor, the cost of extra work and unemployed).

Abstract

Halal market has been expanding staggeringly. It has a great potential to grow the global economy. Muslim minority countries like Thailand start to see the opportunity and penetrate the halal food market to boost the local economy. However, there is still a knowledge gap considering the importance of studying the halal market and the limited availability of academic resources. This research will contribute to being a reference of halal study in the future for examining the consumers purchase behavior of halal food. Due to that, this paper aims to investigate the factors that can influence purchase intention of halal food among the Muslim consumers in Thailand. The data were collected from 480 respondents. The purposive sampling method is used to gather respondents from the four regions: the northern, the central including Bangkok, the northeastern, and the southern part of Thailand. Multiple linear regression analysis reveals that product characteristics, places to display the products in retailing shops, halal awareness from the consumers, and the religiosity level are significantly influencing the consumers purchase intention of halal food in Thailand. The price of the product, promotion, and the consumers knowledge about halal food supply chain cannot influence the purchase intention of halal food.

Abstract

Malaysia currently accounts for 39% of world palm oil production and 44% of world exports. Being one of the biggest producers of palm oil, Malaysia has an important role to play in fulfilling the global demand for palm oil. With the growing global demand for palm oil, Malaysian Multinational Enterprises (MNEs) have embarked on the expansion of palm oil plantations by venturing into cross border palm oil plantation ventures including Indonesia. Nonetheless the cross border venture may not an easy project, as the MNEs have encountered unprecedented challenges. Currently, land conflict in palm oil land procurement in Indonesia is one of the main hindrances for Malaysian MNEs implementing investment in Indonesia. This issue if not resolved can lead to the failure of the MNEsâ?? investment and may affect the FDI flows into Indonesia. The main objective of this paper is to explain the issue of land conflicts in palm oil land procurement faced by the Malaysian MNEs in Indonesia. This paper will reveal the approaches that have been taken to address the problems. Qualitative social and legal research methodologies were used in this research. From this, certain information can be generated to show the severity of the problems arising from land conflict in palm oil land procurement in Indonesia and the approaches that have been taken by the stakeholders to deal with the problems. The findings of the research will significantly enhance the performance of the Malaysian MNEs in its internationalization of palm oil plantation ventures.
