Abstract

This study empirically investigates the relation between modularity and the impact it has on competitive performance of firms. It focuses on both the dimensions of modularity including   process and product modularity. With the vast development of SCQI in firms, this research emphasizes the quality management perspective of firms by assimilating supply chain integration system with it. SCQI system has attained a significant attention over the world that allow firms to strategically collaborate its outer and inner SCI procedures in order to obtain great level quality and modest performance. Using survey method, this research method has opted to gain information through the use of questionnaires the manufacturing firms of Thailand. The information gathered from the organizations are in the form of 304 respondents is analyzed by using statistical tools including SPSS and AMOS by running various tests such as descriptive statistics, reliability tests, CFA and SEM analyze the theoretical relationships among various factors and variables. The outcomes of this research transparently show that both process and Signify a positive association with competitive performance of firms. It also signifies the mediation role of SCQI between modularity and functioning. It means that integrated supply chain practices enhance the development of high-quality commodities. It also helps firms in improving their set up processes by reducing costs and delivery timings to the end users that effectively influence competitive strategies.

Abstract

Delay is one of the serious problems in the construction industry, particularly in high-rise building construction projects in Thailand. Therefore, this research aims to investigate the major causes and effects of delay problems in high-rise building construction projects in Thailand. The study employs both quantitative and qualitative study with concurrent mixed method design. Thirty-three causes and nine effects extracted from the literature review were used as the basis for further analysis. Relative Importance Index technique was used to analyse and calculate to the ranking of causes and effects of delay in Thai construction projects. The survey results were compared with the interview to unearth the true major causes of delay in Thai high-rise building construction projects. The results showed that the most significant factors of construction delay were: (1) change orders, (2) financial problem of contractor, (3) slow decision-making, (4) shortage of labour, (5) improper planning, (6) lack of good communication, (7) third party delay such as subcontractors or suppliers, (8) ambiguity of shop drawing designs, (9) shortage of construction materials and (10) late payment by owners. In terms of potential effects, the results indicated that the five most important effects were a delay in obtaining funds and profits for owners and contractors, cost overrun, time overrun, low quality due to hasty work and arbitration. Implications from these findings are further discussed.

Abstract

The current study has placed an effort to disclose the application of the social capital theory in the supply chain. The Thai global buyers’ firms are taken as the final sample of the study. The SEM-PLS is used to analyze the data.  It has been revealed in the present research that the focus of social capital is on the creation and knowledge sharing within and across the organizations. This is also indicated by the current research. It has been argued by the prior studies that the use of different organization and outcomes of social capital will benefit the future research including the factors of cost, quality, and flexibility. It has been indicated by the results of current research that social capital theory can be applied to the relation of buyer and supplier with reference to the development of supplier. The statement that there is need for more investigation for the various dimensions of social capital related to relational embeddedness, structural embeddedness and cognitive dimension. It is found that the achievements of buyer performance in the form of total cost is explained by the relational capital in terms of buyer-supplier dependence and cognitive capital in shared values, and structural capital in terms of activities of supplier development. Cognitive capital and relationship commitment are the common explanatory variables for the both performance dimensions.

Abstract

Abstract- The growth of global supply chains has changed the distribution of incomes across countries. Participation in these supply chains, initiated by the successful completion of low value-added manufacturing tasks, contributed to industrialisation and high rates of economic growth in several Asian developing economies. The quality of economic development and sustainable human resources in government can be seen from excellent service for the realization of a mental revolution. These qualities are demonstrated through the attitude of government officials who are friendly, polite, and a work ethic that is disciplined, productive, and innovative. But the service in Sungai Ambawang Kuala Village, West Kalimantan Indonesia, was allegedly not yet excellent. For this reason, the purpose of this study is to analyze excellent service leading to a mental revolution in the apparatus of Sungai Ambawang Kuala Village through a descriptive qualitative method. Data was collected through observations on the quality of services carried out by the apparatus in Sungai Ambawang Kuala Village, interviews with village heads, village secretaries, heads of government affairs, hamlet heads, and community leaders, and by collecting documents related to services in Sungai Ambawang Kuala Village. Based on research, it is known that until the end of 2016 the village profile as a village development planning document has not been realized and does not yet have clear service standards. It was found that the quality of service of the apparatus of Sungai Ambawang Kuala Village was fulfilled in the aspect of guarantee, real, empathy, and responsiveness but it was still lacking in the aspect of reliability. The conclusion of this study, to overcome the lack of service of government apparatus in serving the community, the concept of service apparatus is harmonized with the vision of a mental revolution that emphasizes the work ethic and the spirit of mutual cooperation. The recommendation given is the existence of a synergistic social movement between the government and the community in routine activities starting from the scope of the family, school to the community.

Abstract

The environmental challenges for business are on rise. Bearing this fact in mind current has explored the relationship between different pressures and green supply chain management practices (GSCMP). In addition current study has considered the GSCMP as a mediator. 220 respondents participated in the study and Smart-PLS was used for data analysis. Results revealed positive link between coercive, normative, mimetic pressure and GSCMP. Furthermore the study also revealed that GSCMP significantly and positively mediates the relationship between coercive, normative, mimetic pressure and operational efficiency. The study concluded that when an organization is forced through the external sources such as legislation, environment protection agencies and customers they tend to follow the GSCMP. These practices in turn lead towards the operational efficiency of the firms. The limitations and future research areas are provided in the study.

Abstract

Due to tough economic conditions, Malaysian car markets were experiencing a slowdown. Car makers, including national cars were facing huge sales fluctuations. This pressure car dealer to use various marketing methods, including digital signage to obtain sales. However, digital signage has been underutilized by car dealer despite of its potential to generate sales in other retail formats. Therefore, this paper aims to determine the perception of digital signage in car showrooms through car dealers perspectives. By means of semi-structured interviews which were conducted between June 2017 and August 2017, car dealers from North, Central and South Malaysia were interviewed to gain insight of their perceptions toward digital signage in their showrooms. The findings revealed that car dealers have mixed perceptions towards the functions of digital signage to automotive retails. However, digital signage has the potential to positively contribute to automotive sales with given conditions that four identified descriptors met suggested criteria. These findings shall be found useful to car dealers and digital signage suppliers in learning the issues, descriptors and potential of digital signage implementation in car showrooms. As a result, the research outcomes can be used in a wider context of improvements in determining whether digital signage contributes to sales by examining each descriptor from customers perspectives.
