Abstract

Abstract Purpose – The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will have the third largest international air cargo market in the world by 2018 according to a new report by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Handling airport cargo in and along with the integrated supply chain has become increasingly challenging in a competitive environment, particularly in Abu Dhabi. In this perspective, the purpose of the study is to investigate the influence of five factors-price sensitivity, cost leadership, airport charges, provision of unique product and services, development of airport facilities on competitive advantage. Design/Methodology/approach – An online questionnaire link sent to 168 airport logistics executives, out of which 102 respondents submitted. A convenience sampling method was used and the statistical software PLS was employed to measure the suitability of the conceptual framework. Findings – All the five factors or independent variables are positively related to the dependent variable, which confirms the support to the conceptual framework and hypothesis through various statistical analyses. Managerial Implications – Managers need to understand the relationship of the five factors, which are positively related to the dependent variable. Designing, developing and delivering on all the constructs as promised to the stakeholders are vital to achieve competitive advantage. Originality/Value – Due to lack of empirical research work in airport logistics, particularly in UAE, this study will be value added research work and fills the research gap as well. Keywords: Cargo logistics, Competitive advatage, Cost leadership, Airport charges, Product and service, Abu Dhabi, UAE

Abstract

Catfish is one of the freshwater fish that can be maintained in the pond yard of the house or in the field. The growth of catfish is quite fast with high durability and easy to breed in various maintenance locations. This fish is one type of fish consumption that is enough in the know and in the interest in Indonesia. A lot of people who want to cultivate these fish and want to get qualified  catfish seed. For that in deciding determination of  qualified   catfish seed  is needed  for the continuity of  breeding, to select the qualitfied  catfish seed is  needed some methods, one of the decision support system in selecting  qualitfied catfish seed use  SAW (simple additive weighting)  method and efficient in the problems faced in this case study in order to obtain the high weight of various criteria that have been determined on the design process of decision support system. Benefits that can be obtained from using SAW method is to select and  to decide for obtaning qualified  fish seed without using too complicated ways.

Abstract

The article substantiates the idea that increasing social inequality and persistent large-scale poverty in post-Soviet Russia should be considered as one of the main reasons for the low birth rate in the country and a serious challenge to ensuring its demographic security. The authors propose a concept of demographic security and outline its primary indicators and their threshold values—the methodological basis for diagnosing and forecasting demographic processes from the perspective of Russia’s national and economic security. The authors analyzed the influence of excessive social inequality on the demographics in the country for the period from 1990 to 2018. The authors used a step-by-step analysis algorithm and built a multiple regression equation that reflects the impact of various socio-economic factors, including excessive inequality and deformation of people’s social behavior, on life expectancy. The equation has a high explanatory power (the adjusted coefficient of determination isṜ2= 0.914).Thus, it can be used as the methodological basis when proposing measures for maintaining and increasing life potential of society that is an optimal solution for ensuring demographic security in present conditions. The study presents recommendations on the development of an active national socio-economic policy aimed at overcoming excessive social inequality in Russia and ensuring its demographic security.

Abstract

This paper aims to investigate the direct and indirect effects of service quality and customer satisfaction on customer loyalty in the hotel service industry. It proposes to confirm a theoretical model which has not been identified in the literature within the spectrum of the hotel industry in Indonesia. A quantitative methodology was used in this study. 182 respondents of hotel customers in Indonesia were used to gather information about their perception of service quality, customer loyalty and satisfaction. PLS-SEM was used to analyse the collected data and to specify the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) of the hypothesised model. The results revealed that SERVQUAL affects positively on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. Similarly, the testing showed the positive effect of customer satisfaction on customer loyalty. A significant mediation effect of customer satisfaction was found on the relationship between SERVQUAL and customer loyalty. Therefore, the proposed model helps the hotel operator in developing their customer service development program to enhance customer’s satisfaction and loyalty to increase the profitability of the industry. This research contributes to hotel service industry by confirming the proposed structural model and offering insights about the customer perception, which helps hotel operators to more successfully incorporate the service quality to build customer loyalty and achieve customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Abstract- Despite the fact that the terms "household finance", "individual finance", “supply chain strategy” and "personal finance" are recently found in the scientific literature and statistical studies quite often, their place and role in the financial system of the country and in the life of the population are not yet sufficiently visible and these terms need to be clarified. In modern Russia households direct certain share of their income to savings, but only if there are effective communications with the financial market, those savings can become significant sources of investment that are needed by any government. The article concluded that current savings of Russian population cannot be recognized as full – valued free resources that can be directed to investment due to certain problems.

Abstract

The Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model is a well-recognized process reference model in the supply chain management field. Based on the literature, there is no research work that proposes a method to estimate and predict SCOR key performance indicators (KPIs) of a company. The objective of this paper is to propose a methodology to assess the SCOR KPIs under uncertainties based on level 2 of the SCOR-Make process metric, including nine KPIs. The proposed methodology consists of predictive MILP models with fuzzy parameters and some algorithms to assess the KPIs related to agility. A case study of a bottled-water factory is conducted to demonstrate the application of the proposed methodology. From the fact that some parameters are fuzzy numbers, the obtained SCOR KPIs are fuzzy numbers, which provide more information than constant values. The findings indicate that the proposed methodology is capable of developing the relationship between the manufacturing parameters and the SCOR KPIs, which enable the effective prediction process especially when the manufacturing parameters are changed or improved.

Abstract

This study aims to propose a framework for integrating information sharing (IS) into lean supply chain (LSC) to improving supply chain performance (SCP). This paper reviewed the studies published in the supply chain and going deep in LSC and its impact on SCP and disclosure of other relevant factors that play a significant role in enhancing the relationship such as IS. Also, it developed a conceptual framework to explain the moderating role of IS. This paper confirmed from previous studies that the results of the relationship between LSC and SCP are inconclusive. In other words, several empirical studies demonstrated there is a significant and positive relationship between LSC and SCP. In contrast, other studies found there is no significant relationship. Hence, the inconsistency in the results of previous studies leads to the need for moderating variable to enhance the relationship between LSC and SCP. Thus, the results of the study indicate a crucial moderating role for IS. This paper focuses on bridging the gap of IS as a moderator between LSC and SCP, as well as determining the common objective of LSC and IS which is improving SCP.

Abstract

The article discusses the supply chain strategies of the so-termed Arctic Five – the Russian Federation, Canada, the USA, Norway and Denmark, which have borders in the Arctic in the context of the search for their common goals and objectives in order to develop possible ways and means to solve the main common problem – the territory delimitation in the Arctic between these countries. Much has been written about the legal methods of maritime delimitation in the Arctic, but their essence is to compare the principles of “Sectoral division” in the Arctic with the norms of the 1982 “United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea”. Meanwhile, the current international situation and the current state of the Arctic countries in relation to each other in the sphere of military power, economy, science and climate change in the Arctic, force us to consider the issue of territory delimitation in the Arctic in an extensive aspect.
