Abstract

One of the critical challenges of business world is to manage change. This rapid rate of change has forced many companies to radically improve its business processes or better known as business process reengineering (BPR). Financial sector is one of the main drivers in economy in any nation and has been experiencing drastic change in its operations. This paper examines the effectiveness of business process reengineering (BPR) and the moderation role of information technology (IT) capability on the performance of Islamic bank in Malaysia. BPR dimensions namely change management, strategy alignment, management commitment, customer focus, IT investment, process redesign, adequate financial resource and less bureaucratic structure are investigated to observe their effects on the Islamic banks performance. The performance of Islamic bank is unique because it is based on three main quality aspects which include (1) educating individual, (2) public interest, and (3) establishing justice. However, in our case, the performance is measured by the cost spent by the banks to fulfill those three quality aspects. The direct relationship and moderation effects were analyzed using the Partial Least Square (PLS) structural equation modeling. Collectively, the results show the effect of BPR dimensions particularly change management and less bureaucratic sturucture on the performance of Islamic banks. The moderating effect of IT capability, however, is insignificant. The outcome of this study provides the important insights to both managers and researchers for further understanding of BPR factors particularly on the Islamic banks performance.

Abstract

Organization can never achieve sustainability until its employees not develop such consciousness about sustainability. Such consciousness includes knowingness, attitude and behavior regarding sustainability which can affect sustainability performance. This research has seen the impact of supply chain resilience on sustainability performance in mediating role of sustainability consciousness in Thailand’s manufacturing sector. Managerial employees have been taken as unit of analysis as data has been collected from them through questionnaire. Respective data was then analyzed by applying CFA and SEM through AMOS and data screening through SPSS. Results have confirmed that supply chain resilience has significant impact on sustainability performance through sustainability consciousness dimensions. This study is unique and novel due to adding sustainability performance as new outcome of resilience driven sustainability consciousness. Implications of this study will add empirical evidence about sustainability consciousness and performance linkage and will also facilitate Thailand’s manufacturing industry to train their employees to develop sustainability consciousness in them. Future research indications and limitations have also been given in this study.

Abstract

Phytoplankton as one of the most important organisms in the territorial waters, which is the beginning of the food chain in a territorial waters. Phytoplankton have certain tolerance limits to physical-chemical factors so that they will form different community structures. The relationship between chemical physics parameters with phytoplankton communities in a territorial waters, can be used as an indicator of water quality. West Bangka Regency has considerable marine and fisheries resource potential, especially for marine aquaculture. So research on the structure of the phytoplankton community in relation to the physical-chemical parameters of seawater needs to be carried out to see indicators of fertility and availability of natural food in the waters that will be used as a marine aquaculture location. To find out the relationship between physico-chemical parameters and phytoplankton abundance, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used. Some physico-chemical parameters observed were temperature, brightness, pH, salinity, coated oxygen (DO), phosphate, nitrate, and ammonia. The results show the eigenvalues value of the main component 1 (PC1) represents about 41.78% of the diversity of data with its main identifying variable, namely temperature with a loading factor value of -0.885, brightness with a loading factor value of -0.8872 and salinity with a loading factor value of 0.824. For the main component 2 (PC2) represents about 28.16% of the diversity of data with its founder variable, pH with a loading factor value of -0.841. As for the main component 3 (PC3), it represents 18.67% of the diversity of data with its originating variable, Nitrate, with a loading factor value of -0,700. So that it can be formed into 3 clusters namely the first cluster is temperature and salinity, the second cluster is pH and nitrate and the third cluster is DO, phosphate, and ammonia.

Abstract

Abstract-This article is a continuation of a previously published study devoted to the interaction analysis of the national and regional economies through a two-sector model [1]. The concept is based on the proportion between the resource-rich and resource-poor sectors. In the previous article, we showed the fundamental possibility of using this two-sector model for the study of regional economy. In continuation of our study, we will use the two-sector model to study the interrelationships of individual regions using possible situations with different proportions of the resource-rich and resource-poor sectors. Although the two-sector model is initially based on the fundamentally different theoretical grounds, the practical conclusions from this model do not contradict the neoclassical theory of regional development. It is shown how government regulation can help or hinder the development of a separate region, as well as influence the degree of uneven economic development of the regions.

Abstract

One of the most crucial changes which occurred in the domain of improvement of quality in the last decade of the 20th Century was the introduction of a system to measure the level of customer satisfaction as one of the main requirements or components of quality management services for entire business institutions and agencies. The objective of this study is to design and constitute a system capable of measuring the rate of satisfaction among customers which in particular can be applied in municipalities. The statistical pool of the current research is divided in two groups: First, are university professors and experts qualified. Second, are municipalities customers. The method of data collection determined for the first group was non-probability and random sampling and the scope and limitation of this data was specified through the application of the central limit theorem. The sampling method used for the second group was random regional sampling through the application of the proportional distribution method. Hypotheses testing was carried out by applying tests of variations analysis, analysis of the confirmatory factor and structural equation modelling using SPSS, LISREL and PLS software. Conclusion of the study indicates a significant, positive impact of processes involving services offered by the city (municipality) the perceived quality of services. In addition, the significant and positive impact of the concept of quality service an average customer conceives regarding the perceived level of service quality is also confirmed. Furthermore, the significant and positive impact of a mutual comprehension of the effect of quality on customer satisfaction has been confirmed and it has also been verified that the range of customer expectations has a direct significant and positive impact on the level of customer satisfaction. Finally, the role of a significant and positive impact on customer satisfaction in promoting customer trust has also been confirmed.
