Abstract

Penelitian ini menganalisis narasi perlawanan Islam dalam lirik lagu ‘U.S Sanctimonious’ dari grup musik Purgatory menggunakan analisis wacana kritis Fairclough. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa lirik lagu Purgatory membangun dan merepresentasikan ideologi resisten kelompok Muslim (mikro), berfungsi sebagai alat kontra–hegemoni terhadap dominasi budaya Barat (meso), dan merefleksikan ketegangan Islam-Barat dalam wacana Indonesia (makro). Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi pada pemahaman hibriditas dan politik identitas dalam musik metal Indonesia sebagai bentuk paradoks globalisasi.

Abstract

This study explores the role of social media content—particularly YouTube Shorts—on the Tanduria channel in promoting agriculture among Generation Z. Given Indonesia's status as an agricultural nation, concerns about the lack of farmer regeneration, especially among youth, have become increasingly urgent. This study aims to understand how digital communication strategies can enhance interest in agriculture within this demographic. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected through interviews, content analysis, and literature review. The findings reveal that Tanduria successfully engages Gen Z by using informal and relatable language, branding itself with the urban farming concept, and presenting practical, informative, and entertaining short videos. The channel also integrates commercial elements such as product promotions without disrupting educational value. Communication strategies such as personal greetings, humorous tones, and culturally resonant jargon contribute to high engagement. Moreover, the use of real-life demonstrations and DIY tips adds authenticity and practicality, aligning with Gen Z’s preferences for accessible and action-oriented content. This research concludes that social media, especially short video platforms, can serve as an effective medium to bridge the gap between agriculture and younger generations. The study contributes to the discourse on digital communication for agricultural promotion, offering insights for stakeholders aiming to attract youth involvement in this sector.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the creation of English learning videos on the topic of self-introduction communication for hospitality students. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a focus on case studies. Data collection was carried out using documentation study methods, interviews and observations. The process of making learning videos is carried out through three stages including pre-production, production and post-production. The results of this study indicate that the use of artificial intelligence technology can help the effectiveness of time and efficiency of human resources in the production process. In addition, the quality of the visuals and audio produced is able to meet the standards of the needs of attractive audio-visual learning media. In conclusion, artificial intelligence technology has a significant role in the production process and creation of self-introduction communication English learning videos.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas mengenai representasi maskulinitas dalam iklan “Bahasa Sasa” dengan menggunakan analisis semiotika Roland Barthes. Latar belakang penelitian ini didasarkan pada fenomena perubahan konstruksi maskulinitas dalam Masyarakat Indonesia yang tercermin dalam media, khususnya iklan. Iklan “Bahasa Sasa” menampilkan pergeseran peran gender di ranah domestic, di mana laki-laki digambarkan mengambil peran rumah tangga tanpa kehilangan identitas maskulinnya, sementara Perempuan mengejar karier. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi kode dan tanda yang membentuk makna maskulinitas baru dalam iklan tersebut serta menganalisis bagaimana visual, teks, dan lagu dalam iklan berkontribusi terhadap pembentukan persepsi masyarakat tentang maskulinitas. Hasil penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi teoritis pada kajian gender dan semiotika, serta menjadi referensi bagi peneliti selanjutnya mengenai representasi maskulinitas di media.Kata Kunci: Representasi, Iklan, Semiotika, Maskulinitas Baru, Roland Barthes

Abstract

AbstractThe development of communication technology has significantly transformed how Generation Z constructs identity and communicates on social media. The phenomenon of hyperreality has become a key aspect of their digital interactions, where the curated online image often overshadows real-life experiences. This article examines how social media platforms, particularly Instagram and TikTok, serve as spaces for hyperreality, influencing identity construction and social validation among Gen Z.This research employs a literature review method with a systematic approach based on PRISMA, enabling an in-depth analysis of prior studies on hyperreality in digital communication. Data is collected from academic sources discussing identity construction, performative communication, and the social impact of digital media on Gen Z.The findings reveal that Gen Z undergoes changes in communication style due to continuous exposure to social media trends, where their digital identity is often curated and modified rather than reflecting reality. The simulated reality built on Instagram and TikTok affects social interactions and amplifies the pressure to maintain a specific image. The Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) phenomenon further reinforces Gen Z’s engagement in hyperreality, driving social conformity and digital anxiety.The study concludes that Gen Z needs greater digital awareness and media literacy education to comprehend the psychological and social impacts of identity construction in digital spaces. Additionally, ethical regulations concerning platform algorithms should be further examined to reduce social pressures and ensure a healthier digital experience. By adopting a more critical approach to digital content consumption and creation, Gen Z can foster a more balanced relationship with the online world without being trapped in hyperreal simulations.

Abstract

Tinjauan pustaka sistematis ini menyajikan mengenai peran komunikasi dalam membangun ketahanan, baik pada tingkat individu maupun komunitas. Dengan menggunakan protokol PRISMA, penelitian ini mengungkap 53 artikel ilmiah yang secara eksplisit menguraikan hubungan antara komunikasi dan resiliensi, dipublikasikan antara tahun 2016 hingga 2023 di jurnal berbahasa Inggris. Tinjauan ini bertujuan untuk menjawab tiga pertanyaan utama: penelitian karakteristik komunikasi-resiliensi, peran komunikasi dalam mendukung individu menghadapi stres dan trauma, serta kontribusi komunikasi dalam memperkuat ketahanan kolektif dalam komunitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa komunikasi tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai media informasi, tetapi juga sebagai mekanisme utama dalam proses adaptasi psikososial, pembentukan makna, dukungan emosional, serta pemulihan. Pada tingkat individu, komunikasi berperan dalam memperkuat identitas, membentuk harapan, serta memfasilitasi ekspresi dan pengelolaan emosi yang sehat. Pada tingkat komunitas, komunikasi mendorong partisipasi warga, membangun jaringan dukungan sosial dan kerelawanan, serta memperkuat koordinasi respons dalam situasi krisis. Kajian ini juga mengungkap bahwa konteks penelitian masih didominasi oleh negara-negara maju, khususnya Amerika Serikat, sehingga diperlukan kontribusi yang lebih luas dari wilayah Global South untuk memperkaya perspektif lokal dalam sastra global. Temuan ini menegaskan bahwa komunikasi adalah kunci dalam membangun ketahanan yang berkelanjutan, dan memberikan dasar konsep bagi pengembangan strategi komunikasi dalam penanganan krisis dan pemberdayaan masyarakat.

Abstract

Tradisi dan nilai-nilai lokal yang terus dijaga menjadi identitas khas masyarakat Bonokeling di tengah gempuran modernisasi dan budaya luar. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memahami bentuk kearifan lokal dalam komunitas adat Kejawen Bonokeling dan bagaimana strategi pelestariannya dijalankan secara turun-temurun. Pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif digunakan dalam konteks komunikasi budaya, melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi aktivitas adat. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa pelestarian budaya dilakukan lewat proses enkulturasi sejak anak-anak mengenal simbol dan tindakan adat dari keluarga mereka, serta sosialisasi yang berlangsung dalam kelompok sosial seperti kasepuhan dan forum interaksi seperti gendhu-gendhu rasa dan ngendong. Pengetahuan diwariskan melalui titen, ngucing, dan praktik komunikasi lisan. Tradisi bukan sekadar ritual, tapi ruang belajar, membentuk karakter dan solidaritas sosial. Komunitas ini berhasil mempertahankan nilai religius, etika, dan spiritualitas melalui keseharian mereka yang penuh makna simbolik. Budaya bukan lagi warisan pasif, melainkan alat adaptasi aktif di tengah zaman yang terus bergerak. Pelestarian budaya Bonokeling tidak hanya bicara soal mempertahankan, tetapi juga tentang bagaimana komunitas berdaya menghadapi perubahan dengan akar budaya yang kuat.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of development communication via social media in shaping Generation Z's consumer awareness towards thrifting as a sustainable lifestyle. Facing rising consumerism and environmental concerns, Gen Z, as digital natives, increasingly embraces thrifting. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA framework.Findings reveal social media's crucial role in fostering Social Environmental Awareness, driving Gen Z's thrifting intent. The Need for Uniqueness and Brand Awareness also significantly influence this trend. Importantly, past preconceptions and social prestige no longer deter thrifting, signifying a positive shift amplified by social media. Social media platforms lsuch as TikTok and Instagram facilitate community building and advocacy, with Gen Z actively contributing to the trend's growth. In essence, social media acts as a transformative force, guiding Gen Z towards more conscious and sustainable consumption through thrifting.Keywords: Social Media, Generation Z, Thrifting, Sustainable Lifestyle, Consumer Awareness.

Abstract

The development of technology and the internet has transformed the way information is disseminated, making online media the preferred choice over print media. In Indonesia, with high internet penetration, the use of smartphones for news consumption has surged, driving the growth of digital platforms like Konteks.co.id. This media outlet has thrived due to its effective editorial management strategies, which are crucial for determining the quality and relevance of news and building audience trust.This study employs a qualitative descriptive method to examine the editorial management strategies of Konteks.co.id, focusing on planning, organizing, executing, and controlling processes. The findings reveal that the implementation of the POAC (Planning, Organizing, Acting, Controlling) functions is effective and well-structured. This is evidenced by the rise in Konteks.co.id's ranking among Indonesia's digital media from 2022 to 2024. The planning process involves editorial meetings to decide on topics and scheduling, while execution includes information gathering, verification by reporters, and editing through the CMS. Regular evaluations by the editorial team ensure news quality, and collaboration with the social media

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon of hate speech dissemination in online games, its impact on children's communication behavior, and mitigation strategies from a communication science perspective. The research was motivated by the growing prevalence of hate speech in digital environments accessed by children. The study employs Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) theory, the concept of hate speech, and communication strategy frameworks. A qualitative approach was used through literature review methods. The subject of the study is the hate speech phenomenon in online games, while the object is its effect on children's communication behavior. Secondary data were collected from academic journals, research reports, and media coverage. Content and thematic analysis techniques were applied within the critical tradition of communication studies. The findings indicate that hate speech in online games is driven by factors such as anonymity, permissive gaming community culture, and weak content moderation. The impacts include adoption of aggressive language, emotional desensitization, and development of discriminatory attitudes among children. Recommended mitigation strategies highlight the need for reflective communication, digital literacy education, and collaboration between parents, teachers, and platform developers.
