Abstract

The article discusses the measurement model of tourism destination images perceived by travellers based on five dimensions of the service quality, i.e. tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, empathy, and assurance. Measurement problems occur when a traveller assesses the quality of a tourism destination service subjectively with vague boundaries and perceives the image of a tourism destination to vary. To address these issues, we designed an inference model using Mamdani's fuzzy inference system. The results of this study are quantitative assessments of the image of tourism destinations by various travellers based on qualitative perceptions of the quality of service experienced by the traveller.

Abstract

Signaling theory suggests that when high-quality entities signal their potentials such as intellectual capital to the market, its participants (e.g., investors) re-evaluate their worth and make informed decisions therefrom. This paper examines the consequences of intellectual capital disclosures with respect to firm value, information asymmetry, and cost of capital. Voluntary intellectual capital disclosure (ICD, measured in index) affects firm value (FV, measured in Tobin’s Q) through reducing both information asymmetry (IA, measured in bid-ask spread) and cost of capital (COC, measured in weighted average cost of capital). 67 Indonesian manufacturers were purposively selected whose financial reports published in Indonesian Stock Exchange official website and Bloomberg provide the data for the research. A research model is estimated to the data through a partial least square analysis. Results provides substantial evidence on the positive effect of ICD on FV and negative effect on IA; negative effect of IA on FV; negative effect of COC on FV; and positive effect of IA on COC. On a separate analysis, IA is shown to significantly mediate the relationship between ICD and FV.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to confirm the effect of business performance and macroeconomics on stock returns in the industrial sector in the Indonesia Stock Exchange LQ45 index. This study examines eight variables from business performance and macroeconomics, namely: current ratio, debt-equity ratio, total asset turnover, return on equity, inflation rate, interest rate, exchange rate, and political stability to be tested for the effect on the stock return of the industrial sector. Using Generalized Least Square techniques, it is concluded that the Industrial sector in the Indonesia Stock Exchange is strongly influenced by macroeconomic factors rather than business performance factors. This is common in capital markets which are mostly dominated by foreigners because foreign investors are very sensitive to changes in a country's macroeconomic conditions especially if it is related to political conditions. From the iteration results, there are two multivariate regression models which are statistically considered the most suitable. The originality of this study is to prove statistically that political stability is very influential on LQ45 stock returns in the industrial sector on the Indonesia Stock Exchange
