Abstract

This study aims to determine the diversity of large mammal species in Ujung Kulon National Park. This research was conducted at 4 research stations, namely Peucang Island, Handeuleum Island, Cigenter, and Cidaon in March-June 2021. The data collection method used was a line transect combined with the Variable Circular-Plot (VCP) method with a random data collection technique. direct and indirect observation. The results showed that there were 6 species of large mammals found, namely Macaca fasicularis, Cervus timorensis, Bos javanicus, Sus scrofa vitalus, Rhinoceros sondaicus, and Cuon alpinus. The index value for the diversity of species of large mammals is 1.50 which is included in the medium category, the index value for species richness of large mammals is 0.93 which is included in the low category, and the index value for the evenness of species for large mammals is 0.84 which is included in the medium category. The results of this study will be implemented as an initial research study on the development of vertebrate subconcepts development research.

Abstract

This research presents the creativity of the college students of Biology Education Study Program of Universitas Tanjungpura in processing and utilizing both the organic and inorganic waste into several functional products. The type of this research is qualitative research with a descriptive approach to describe the types of useful products from waste made by the college students of Biology Education Study Program. The product assessment is carried out by 3 validators, who are 2 lecturers at IKIP PGRI Pontianak and 1 lecturer at the Faculty of Education and teachers training (FKIP) of Universitas Tanjungpura. The creativity of the college students in utilizing waste into functional products produces several products in the form of foods and crafts. Moreover, the food products include Empek-empek mackerel fish bones, chicken intestine nuggets, avocado seed cookies, watermelon skin sweetmeat, jackfruit seed chips, and fluffy mini pancake banana peel. Then, the handicraft products include piggy banks made from used bottles, bags made of jerry cans and patchwork, miniature of trees with lights and electrical terminals made from old newspapers and old tires, and the bracelet friendship summer. Finally, the validator's assessment of the food products is in the range of 2 - 5, while for the handicraft products is in the range of 2 - 4.5.

Abstract

Practical guidelines as learning media in practical activities are needed to facilitate students in an independent study. The purpose of this research is to describe the results of learning media analysis that is needed by students. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The respondents were 30 students from the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP Balitar Islamic University who had taken the Invertebrate Zoology course. The data analysis technique is to describe the data from the analysis of learning media needs, which are analyzed systematically. The results of this research were 1) students need learning media as guidelines for identifying invertebrate animals in determining species names, 2) learning media that provides material and information through the practical activities presented by the teaching lecturer, 3) Learning media that is easily accessible, presented systematically and uses terms that are easily understood by students.  The results of the analysis are expected to be the basis for developing learning media according to student needs.

Abstract

The bacterial contamination of blood products is still become a serious problem in consideration, thus it can cause the risk of blood transfusion, namely bacterial sepsis. Packed red cells is blood product and potentially contain bacterial contaminant. The source of bacterial contamination can come from the skin disinfection process in less aseptic during blood collection, donor bacterimia, and  blood processing. In response, currently there have been many antibacterial compounds developments purposely to reduce the risk of bacterial contamination of blood products. This study aimed to observe the activity of 4-hydroxychalconecompounds in contaminant bacteria isolated from packed red cells blood products. Bacterial isolates isolated from the packed red cells were Staphylococcus aureusbased on cell morphology, biochemistry and colony shape. The antibacterial activity of 4-hydroxychalchone compound against Staphylococcus aureus isolates used the diffusion method. The results showed, there were antibacterial activity of 4-hydroxychalchone at a concentration of 2.5% 1.25% and 0.625% against packed red cells contaminant bacteria based upon the clear zone formed. In conclusion, the bacteria isolate was obtained from the PRC was gram positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus. The 4-hydroxychalcone had successfully synthesized and has antibacterial activity against S. aureus isolated from PRC, with the biggest inhibition power was 71,36% at 5,0% of chalcone concentration.

Abstract

The implementation of Education Policy in the Emergency Period of the Spread of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) greatly affects the condition of education in Indonesia, therefore, educators are expected to develop certain activities that use social media in learning. Educators can actively use Instagram to stay connected with students. The use of Instagram by students is used as an evaluation medium related to animal excretory system material in Biology Education Students. The data analysis method used is qualitative descriptive method. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the use of media in learning is a very important element, knowledge will be more abstract if only conveyed through verbal language. This can be seen in the aspect of the Instagram application which is able to become an evaluation media with a percentage of 84%.

Abstract

This study aims to produce a worksheet based on an integrated TPACK project on valid Ecological material. The purpose of this study was to determine the validity of the TPACK-integrated project-based worksheet. This research is a research and development (Research and Development) with a 4D model development model consisting of four stages, namely: (1) Define, (2) Design, (3) Development, amd (4) Disseminate. The product produced in this research is the TPACK integrated project-based student worksheet, validated by 2 expert validators. The instrument used in this study was a product validation questionnaire. The data was obtained using the developed, was then analyzed quantitatively. The results showed that the level of validity of the worksheet based on the TPACK integrated project, which was 4.5, was in the valid category. So that the student worksheet based on the TPACK integrated project is declared valid. The benefit of this research is to determine the validity or level of accuracy of a basic material, namely the TPACK-based project-based worksheet so that it is useful and useful for teachers and students in the learning process.

Abstract

Improving critical thinking skills is an important skill that needs to be developed in the 21st century which has the main goal of achieving science education. Critical thinking skills can be developed through ongoing training for students during the learning process. This study aims to see the potential of the Reflective learning model for improving students' critical thinking skills by using the Quasi-experimental method with the Pretest-Posttest control group design. The research subjects were 30 students in class VIII odd semester 2021/2022 at SMPN 12 Palangka Raya.  The ability of students' critical thinking skills experienced a significant increase where students obtained an average score of 25.33%. The conclusion that can be drawn based on the analysis of research data states that the increase in students' critical thinking skills in science learning, especially in the material of the human digestive system by using reflective learning models, has experienced a significant increase. The reflective learning model has the potential to improve students' critical thinking skills.
