Abstract

This study aims to determine the communication skills and self-concept of students. This study involved 11th grade from one of the Inclusion Senior High Schools in Cimahi City. Inclusive Education is a system of education that provides opportunities for all students who have abnormalities and have potential intelligence and / or special talents to participate in education or learning in an educational environment together with students in general. This research method uses descriptive qualitative. The instruments used were mathematical communication test questions. As for self-concept, the instrument used was a questionnaire with a modified Likert scale ranging from 1-4. To examine the mathematical communication skills possessed by the eleven students provided 4 as a test instrument. Based on data obtained from the results of the study, the average criteria for mathematical communication ability was 24.55% (low). As for the self concept, the classification criteria are NA> 60 (strong). This shows that there is no positive relationship between mathematical communication skills and self-concept of students

Abstract

This research is qualitative research with correlation method aims to analyze students' mathematical communication skills in solving problems that are viewed from gender. The selection of research subjects using purposive sampling technique based on sex with the procedure for selecting research subjects, namely, choosing male and female students. Then a written test was carried out in the form of a test of mathematical communication skills, then the test results were analyzed. The population in this study were all seventh grade students in the 2017/2018 school year at one of the junior high schools in Cimahi City. While the study sample was taken one class randomly from the whole class VII, namely class VII A totaling 30 students consisting of 15 male students and 15 female students. Measurement of mathematical communication skills of students in this study using a test instrument in the form of a set of questions in the form of a description without any prior learning as many as 5 questions. Giving a description question aims to see the process of students' abilities, accuracy and systematic arrangement of answers that can be seen from each step of solving the problem made. This test of mathematical communication skills was developed by researchers for social arithmetic material as the first step taken in compiling questions is to make a grid, arrange questions and answer keys and determine the score of each item in question. The results of the correlation test and the percentage of tests of mathematical communication skills from this study are that there is an influence of gender on the mathematical communication skills of junior high school students with the results of mathematical communication skills of male students classified as moderate with an average value of 57.47%, while the mathematical communication abilities of female students are classified high with an average percentage value of 65.73%

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of high school students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The method used in this study is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The population in this study were all high school students in West Bandung Regency, while the sample was 20 students of class XI in one of the high schools in West Bandung Regency. The results obtained from this study indicate that the percentage of indicators 3 chooses and applies strategies to solve mathematical problems or outside mathematics and indicator 4 explains or interprets the results according to the problem and checks the correctness of the results or answers, gets the lowest percentage with 60% and 31%. Then the students' mistakes in solving the problem of mathematical problem solving ability lies in the process of selecting and implementing a calculation strategy and students have not been able to elaborate on the strategies that will be carried out to carry out the next calculation. Based on the results of student answers, it can be said that the level of problem solving ability of students in one of the high schools is quite sufficient even though they still have many difficulties in working on the questions on indicators 3 and 4.

Abstract

This study aims to answer the questions that have been formulated, namely: (1) the types of mistakes made by the subject in solving the set questions; (2) the cause of an error made by the subject in working on set questions. Classifying the types of errors according to Newman, namely reading errors, misunderstanding, transformation errors, process skill errors and errors writing the final answer. This study uses descriptive qualitative. The subject of this study was seventh grade students of Al-Mubarokah MTs. Subject collection using purposive sampling technique. Data was taken using the description test method. In this study the questions used were 5 questions about set stories. The results showed that the three subjects made mistakes in understanding, errors in transforming and errors in process skills. The cause of this error is because the subject does not know what is actually being asked about the problem, misunderstands the information in the question so that it cannot complete the next process, does not understand how to change into a mathematical model and is not skilled in calculating.
