Abstract

The application of safety is an important matter in carrying out activities inland transportation including railroad transportation. Jabodetabek travel routes are handled directly by PT. Kereta Komuter Indonesia. This activity certainly requires a lot of human labor so safety is very important in this regard. With the existence of safety arrangements, it will avoid any related things from accidents or losses due to the delay in the completion of work caused by the inaccurate company safety management system. Therefore each element involved in each activity requires further knowledge and understanding of the core factors that are in accordance with the safety management system used. Referring to this approach, research is carried out on the railroad industry in Indonesia by developing a safety model in the railway industry. The research was conducted by finding the right literature and then developing a model for the factors considered appropriate to be applied to the safety management system in railroad transportation in Indonesia. After the model was developed, the model was confirmed by the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) approach with the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method. The results of the study will prove that the factors developed in the safety model are positively related to the implementation of commuter train safety management in Indonesia.

Abstract

The analysis of queuing time has done for the process of loading and unloading as well as clarify why the biggest cause of problems occurred in the queue (45% of the total issues arising for the service) on company which is engaged in the business of providing warehouse.Currently, the queue model used is Multichannel Single Phase models where there are 10 lines for the loading process, assisted by 12 people for forklifts and 2 people to the process of checking in and out of the goods with the time standards set by the company is 30 minutes. Sample data retrieval is done by measuring the customer arrival and service time that occurred for three days. Data processing is done with using OM EXCEL software to calculate the amount of time in the queue. From the measurement results obtained that the average customer arrival (truck) is 3 trucks/hour so that the average service for a truck 13 minutes. And from the results obtained by processing server utilization 6% and 54% probability of unemployment system. Customer waiting time is much less than 30 minutes. The percentage of total issues in the company does not fully describe the queue at organization. This is due to the queue remains occur only upon arrival at a particular customer accumulates.

Abstract

Industrial development in the coal mining sector is a government effort to increase the foreign exchange. By seeing the potential, the marine transportation service company for the bulk cargo of coal, the company has a problem that is often happening in customer satisfaction, one of it is low efficiency and effectivity of the ship due to incompetence in the maintenance management of the ship appropriately. By calculating the productivity of the ship by using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method is expected to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the ship. The measurement is done by calculating the level of Availability Rate, Performance Rate, and Quality Yield. From the measurement, we can see Six Big Losses to facilitate in identifying the causes of the productivity which is below the standard ideal value. During January - December 2014 Overall Equipment Effectiveness values are ranged from 73.63% to 88.05% with an average value 80.58%. This proves that the ship operations throughout 2014 have not reached the ideal state yet. Seen from the value obtained is lower than the ideal standard is ≥85%. The cause of OEE low value is due to the effect of idling and minor stoppages amounted to 2.69% and 1.91% losses breakdown caused by Human, Methods, Engineering, and Environment factors. Keywords: Efficiency, Effectivity, Productivity, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Six Big Losses.

Abstract

PT. Indosari Mandiri is an industrial company engaged in the manufacture of snacks. Problems that are being faced by PT. Indosari Mandiri is currently the number of defective products in flat wafer products, especially in Osuka wafer products. The number of product defects in the production process for one shift is an average of 30%. The current defect condition is very far from the tolerance of company defects which is 15%. To overcome these problems, Six Sigma methods are used. Six Sigma consists of Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control (DMAIC). In the Define stage, the wafer osuka production process is defined and the Critical to Quality (CTQ) is determined. From the CTQ identification, there are several types of defects in the product, each of which is tough, the sheet is not full, dirty, broken, broken and peeled off. In the Measure stage, Six Sigma is calculated and determine the sigma level. In the Analyze stage, analysis of defect selection is done with a causal diagram or fishbone diagram, and the most dominant defects obtained are in the Creaming and Cutting section. The Improve stage is done by the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method, to listen to the voices of loyal consumers of Osuka Wafer products. At the control stage, the input is only given to the company regarding the quality improvement of the osuka wafer product so that defective products can be suppressed. In this study it was concluded that improvements in the creaming and cutting process area need to be done immediately, in line with the QFD method that requires repairs to the area to improve or meet consumer desires.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find the ideal system run for passengers elevators facilities, in term of passengers arrivals, load capacity, in and out passengers distribution to each floor, and layout of classrooms in Bunda Mulia University’s building. Four (4) models of simulations were developed in this research. The four models are: the standard (full floor services of elevators), Model 1 (odd and even services of the elevators), Model 2 (partial and full services of elevators), and model 3 (partial services of elevators). This study found two conditions. Condition 1, based on normal season with the average arrivals distribution passengers of 300 peoples / hour, the best system run of elevator passengers service is the standard model with an average waiting time of 3.88 minutes. The second conditions- with the level of infinite arrivals (unlimited) - provides Model 1 (odd and even services) as the best result), with an average waiting time of 19.26 minutes. Keywords: Simulation, Promodel, Passengers Elevator Mode

Abstract

This research uses the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method to measure the blowing machine effectiveness at the plastic bottle manufacturing plant. This paper investigates losses that gave the biggest impact on machine effectiveness value. Afterwards analytical methods are used in this paper, using Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Logic Tree Analysis (LTA). Both methods identify as many causes as the failure that can decrease machine effectiveness. OEE value was influenced by low-performance efficiency. Failure that most affect the effectiveness of the machine is shown by factors with the value of Risk Priority Number (RPN) above the critical value.

Abstract

Process Capability is a tool that is often used in the process of quality improvement, especially for process improvement. This study uses a process capability analysis on crank shaft production line 2 for motorcycles. By using normality test data and process capability indices for calculation of Cp/Cpk, shows that most of the data obtained are not normally distributed, so need to transform the data into normal, which can then be followed by the calculation of process capability. For the calculation of Cp/Cpk, it was found that there were some machines that still need to get tight control to meet the specification. It shows that mass production is still less stable. In order to meet the specifications, it is necessary to improve the quality of the repair process to reduce the variation in the process. Keywords: Process Capability, Quality Control, Process Improvement
