Abstract

This research focuses on how journalists at Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Online Media in East Java construct news presented to the public about religious moderation. It showcases news framing on religious moderation from the perspective of Nahdlatul Ulama through online media in East Java. This research aims to understand how NU's religious moderation is disseminated in society through media produced by journalists. The research method employed is qualitative, utilizing media text analysis with framing by Zhondang Pan and Gerald M. Kosicki, analyzing four syntactic structures: script, thematic, and rhetorical. The research also involves validation of the truth and news construction with the editorial board of NU Online East Java. The results of this research explain that journalists at NU Online East Java construct news on religious moderation by presenting the teachings of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah Nahdliyah through the practice of Hubbul Watan Minal Iman (Love of the Homeland is Part of Faith), with the vision of Islam as a mercy to all creations (rahmat lil 'alamin). Conflicts arise in online media concerning narratives of violence, liberalization, and radicalism. Consequently, journalists construct the values of religious moderation from the perspective of NU figures, namely Alisha Wahid and Gus Miftah, to create alternative narratives in online media that promote positive content rather than content that divides intergroup relationships.

Abstract

This article reviews the dynamics of Islamic da'wah in Manado before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The question posed by this article is: what were the dynamics of Islamic da'wah in Manado before the COVID-19 pandemic? And how is the transformation of da'wah during the COVID-19 pandemic? Using a historical approach, the author finds two things: First, historically, Islamic da'wah in Manado has taken place simultaneously with the process of Islamization that occurred since the beginning of the 17th century, but da'wah and Islamization began to be massive and had a dominant impact on the development of Islam in Manado since the placement of exiles by the colonial. With the adaptation process, these figures were able to carry out cultural da'wah in Minahasa and Manado. The success of Islamic da'wah in the city of Manado is also inseparable from the role of Islamic organizations such as Alkhairaat, Muhammdiyah, and Nahldatul Ulama. These three organizations do a lot of da'wah through formal education channels by establishing schools, madrassas, and pesantren. Second, during the COVID-19 pandemic, there were no digital da'wah activities that were carried out regularly and systematically and were open to the public by da'wah actors in Manado, both individually and organizationally. Most da'wah practitioners in Manado move individually and are partial, meaning that each dai carries out their da'wah activities individually based on their respective popularity in the community.

Abstract

The primary objective of this study is to examine the significance of da'wah values within the MAFINDO (Masyarakat Anti Fitnah Indonesia) website as a means to combat hoax news on social media. The research methodology employed is content analysis, which helps reveal the contents of the research instrument. The study utilizes the Media Dependency Theory to evaluate MAFINDO's image as portrayed in several of its posts. In this particular case, the Media Dependency Theory serves as a tool to better understand how da'wah values manifest in the content presented on the MAFINDO website, aiming to counter hoax news on social media. The study's findings indicate the presence of two da'wah values on the website. Firstly, the MAFINDO website serves as a platform for truth, promoting the value of information disclosure. Additionally, the value of da'wah is evident in the "fact-checking" tool, which makes a significant contribution to fostering an intelligent, critical, and honorable society. Individuals can establish trust and uphold national and societal harmony by collaborating to prevent the spread of fake news. Previous literature lacks research examining the role of da'wah in countering hoaxes, making this study a valuable contribution to the social and religious communication field and the study of hoax news on social media. This research highlights the correlation between social and religious factors in MAFINDO's role as an institution combating defamation and slander, particularly in anti-corruption efforts.

Abstract

Pancasila holds a pivotal role in the establishment of the Republic of Indonesia, but its maintenance has faced challenges through historical events like the G30S/PKI incident and the TII DI event. These instances serve as benchmarks illustrating the potential changes that could occur if Pancasila's significance is not upheld by society. In the modern era, recurrent radicalism poses a threat to Indonesia's unity. This study aims to propose an internalization model for Pancasila values that garners acceptance across all societal segments, fostering adherence to these values. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review, including various journals, and utilizing relevant applications and websites, the study underscores that radicalism often contradicts Pancasila principles and human rights, encompassing terrorism and ideological extremism. Effective countermeasures necessitate collaborative endeavors involving governmental bodies, citizens, and institutions. Recognizing the need for bureaucratic reform, the study suggests the integration of Pancasila values to align ethical conduct with national principles. The P4 Pancasila program demonstrates intricate bureaucratic dynamics, highlighting the equilibrium between authority and unintended outcomes. The study identifies the inculcation of Pancasila values from a young age as instrumental in nurturing a generation dedicated to national ideals, proficient in mitigating radicalism, and advancing ethical governance.

Abstract

Contemporary politics has given rise to various humanitarian disasters. The political world seems too preoccupied with personal, group, and factional power interests. One tangible impact is the destruction of social stability. In contrast, Islamic politics ontologically views human beings holistically and universally, and then epistemologically derives from the Revelation of Almighty God and the Sunnah of His Messenger. History has proven that Islamic politics has contributed significantly to social harmony in a civilization. Based on the aforementioned political paradigm, the question is how Said Nursi addresses these issues by applying his political principles. This research aims to uncover and explain the definition, purpose, politics, and solutions to contemporary political problems according to Bediuzzaman Said Nursi. Said Nursi's political principles play a crucial role in the modern political world, especially concerning issues of social harmony. The researcher employs a qualitative method and an Islamic political approach, using narrative data rather than numerical data. This research discovers that the Islamic political thought of Bediuzzaman Said Nursi holds a concrete vision in harmonizing society.

Abstract

Yayasan Arah Pemuda Indonesia organised a community empowerment activity with the theme pengabdi muda #5. Pengabdi Muda #5 has a series of activities that serve to optimise the capabilities of volunteers so that they have provisions in carrying out community empowerment. This research uses the learning outcomes capability theory from Robert Mills Gagne and the 7 stages of proposition proposed by Isbandi Rukminto Adi. The theory will dissect the process of developing volunteer capabilities at Arah Pemuda Indonesia Foundation. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection techniques include observation, documentation, and interviews. This study found that the series of community empowerment activities of youth service #5 can optimise volunteer capabilities. The implementation stage is the most important stage that can develop volunteer capabilities. Pengabdi Muda #5 activities are still limited in carrying out community empowerment because the stages of empowerment and capacity building are not optimal, but the awareness stage has been carried out and is a very good agent of change.
