Abstract

The study aims to analyze the form of behavioral transformation during the Covid-19 pandemic among the "Malakok" community in Minangkabau, especially in Nagari Sungai Sirah, Pesisir Selatan Silaut District. At this time, almost the entire order of people's lives has changed, including the personal interactions of the community and the social interactions of the transmigration community who do malakok in Nagari Sungai Sirah. The presence of the transmigration community in the Sungai Sirah area resulted in a cultural cross between the Minang community and the transmigrant community to create a diverse society. Meanwhile, the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the multicultural society created by this cross-culture has resulted in visible changes, both in daily behavior and social behavior in society. For that, it takes a big heart to adapt to the current situation so that the stability of life in Nagari Sungai Sirah remains stable. This research was conducted using a qualitative phenomenological approach. Collecting data using observation techniques, in-depth interviews and holding a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) at the research site. The results showed that the form of behavioral transformation during the Covid-19 pandemic among the Malakok community was natural, both in terms of personal behavior and social behavior changes. However, they were able to adapt to the new everyday life which had become government policy. The implementation of customs in the mutual village also changed before the occurrence with the period after the Covid-19 pandemic. Previously, all traditional elements required all familiar elements to carry out a custom determined by custom. However, during the Covid-19 pandemic, all traditional elements gave and were given tolerance and relief in implementing the custom. Through the Malakok tradition, immigrant communities can still live side by side and maintain social harmony within the brotherhood framed in an attitude of tolerance and open-mindedness.

Abstract

The study aims to analyze conflict resolution on domestic violence behavior (KDRT) in Yogyakarta. The study results stated that the presence of domestic violence cases in Yogyakarta was considered small with the comparison of the population in the area. Meanwhile, the case of domestic violence in Yogyakarta was caused by factors such as stress due to domicile in the Metropolitan City; work environment; economy, and other factors. In order to take preventive measures against domestic violence behavior, mediation is needed. The concept of Islamic mediation in Indonesia is authorized by Badan Penasihat, Pembinaan, dan Pelestarian Rumah Tangga (the Household Advisory, Guidance, and Preservation Agency) or BP4. BP4 can mediate ongoing cases with spouses that impact domestic violence behavior. Meanwhile, the anticipation of harmful impacts on children as victims of domestic violence can be done through interpersonal communication; namely, the closest family communicates intensely with children through three steps; firstly, provide physical and mental strengthening; secondly, accompanying children as long as the domestic violence case has not been completed; thirdly, strengthen the spiritual side of the child. Such an effort is one of the anthropological and sociological resolutions of domestic violence conflicts

Abstract

The dynamics of the conflict in Papua which is often volatile and take a long way are the impact of the complexity of the problem since it was integrated with the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Differences in perspective from the history of integration, discrimination, economic inequality, and human rights violations encourage indigenous Papuans to give birth to an ethnonationalism movement. On the other hand, the dual strategic approach that has been implemented in Papua is both in welfare and security. The Government seeks to improve and facilitate access to the fundamental rights of the Papuan people within the framework of development in line with local wisdom or known as ethno-development. In order to contribute to previous studies, this article attempts to critically analyze the ethnonationalism movement in Papua and the factors that drive the emergence of conflicts and strategic efforts to resolve conflicts through ethnodevelopment. The ethnodevelopment approach is based on the cultural integrity of the local population who play an essential role in actively participating in social change. Ethno-development is also a parameter for the implementation of space for freedom of expression in Papua to acknowledge local culture and wisdom.

The empowerment mechanism used discovery, dream, design, and destiny also called a 4-D model or cycle. The researcher accompanies community empowerment by processing young teak leaves into tea bags and chips with this method. The findings show that women's economic resilience in Dusun Mantren is included in the low scale. Therefore, to improve the economic welfare of women in Dusun Mantren, the empowerment strategy used is to provide training and assistance in processing young teak leaves into teabags and chips so that they have high selling power. The products created in teabags and chips can help support the family's economic resilience for women who have retired as migrant workers.

Abstract

This article aims to identify and conceptualize the “manhaj” message as an epistemological category within Salafi da’wah practices in West Sumatra. This study is an extension of existing theories of da’wah messages, which have so far been limited to the aspects of 'aqidah, sharia, and akhlak, while the aspects that shape religious practice and the formation of a framework of thought in understanding religious teachings have not yet received attention from experts and academics in the field of da’wah. Using a qualitative exploratory-conceptual approach, the author collected data from various studies on Salafi da'wah in West Sumatra through interviews, observations, and documentation of various online and offline studies conducted by the Salafi da'wah community. This study found that the "manhaj" is one of the most important messages in Salafi da'wah activities. This message emphasizes following the Sunnah (ittiba` as-sunnah), rejecting innovation (bid'ah), issuing warnings (tahdzir), and reinforcing the authority of specific scholars as the primary reference in religious practice. This manhaj message not only serves as da'wah material in da'wah studies but also shapes an individual's way of thinking in understanding, practicing, and evaluating their religious practices. Thus, the manhaj message functions as the epistemological foundation of Salafi da'wah. This study concludes that the concept of "manhaj" is a significant category in the study of da'wah, expanding the analytical framework for da'wah messages from a normative to an epistemological dimension, and making a theoretical contribution to the development of da'wah studies in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This study examines how Islamic education grounded in local wisdom is constructed and disseminated through the TikTok account of NU Lumajang. The research draws on the theoretical perspectives of the mediatization of religion and on Clifford Geertz's concept of religion as a cultural system to explain the interaction among media logic, religious authority, and local cultural values in digital environments. Employing a qualitative netnographic approach, the study investigates the production, circulation, and audience engagement of religious content on social media. Data were collected through the observation and documentation of 87 TikTok videos uploaded throughout 2025, analysis of user interactions in the comment sections, and in-depth interviews with account managers and selected followers to strengthen the interpretation of online findings. The findings reveal that Islamic education on TikTok NU Lumajang is communicated through short, visually engaging videos that integrate normative Islamic teachings with local traditions, cultural symbols, and regional languages. This strategy enables Islamic values to be conveyed in a contextual, inclusive, and accessible manner while reinforcing local cultural identity. The study concludes that TikTok NU Lumajang functions as a digital space where religious authority, local wisdom, and platform logics are continuously negotiated. The article contributes to the growing scholarship on digital religion by demonstrating how Islamic organizations utilize social media not only to disseminate religious teachings but also to preserve and recontextualize local cultural traditions within contemporary digital communication practices.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the Indonesian government’s efforts to strengthen religious moderation through Presidential Regulations No. 18 of 2020 and No. 58 of 2023, which emphasize tolerance, anti-violence, national commitment, and acceptance of local traditions. Ideally, these policies are expected to create a peaceful and inclusive society. However, intolerance and radicalism are still found in religious life, including in the preaching practices of dai. Therefore, this study examines the factors influencing dai’s understanding of religious moderation. The method used is a quantitative approach with a multivariate regression, involving 134 dai selected through purposive sampling. The results indicate that educational background (X1), social status (X6), and religious affiliation (X7) have a significant positive effect on the religious moderation of dai, while profession (X2) and place of residence (X5) show a significant negative effect. In contrast, gender (X3) and age (X4) do not significantly influence religious moderation. Since this study employed purposive sampling with a limited number of respondents, the findings are intended to provide exploratory insights into the factors influencing religious moderation among dai rather than broad generalizations to the wider population. In conclusion, the findings of this study indicate that educational background, social status, and religious affiliation significantly influence the religious moderation of dai, while profession and place of residence show a negative influence. These results imply that strengthening religious moderation among dai can be supported through educational programs and social empowerment strategies within the Palembang community.
