Abstract

In Javanese tradition, batik is an art. In terms of its creation  to application, batik is very close to life, likewise with one of these phenomenal batik, which is jumputan.  A rare event is now transforming  like mushrooms in the rainy season.  The cloth which was used to be worn by lower class society is now an idol among the upper class society. By carrying the Javanese concept in a song namely the song of Winengku Sastra, the composition of this music was created.This research attempted to use phenomenological and ethnographic studies in reviewing, dissecting and analyzing the event. Phenomenology is expected to be able to unravel the logical reasons for past and present views including placing them in the frame of the phenomenon of musical performances. Meanwhile, ethnography is expected to be able to review and describe in detail the fabric structure into distinctive music. Likewise the musical concept will be carried in this work, namely the concept of transmedia instrument. Keywords: Jumputan, Society, and Music.

Abstract

Adi Sumarmo airport in Surakarta is an international airport located at Boyolali regency which is close to Surakarta city. The aesthetic aspects and elements of the architecture and interior of the airport as an international one should give a strong impression. The character, style and meaning of the aesthetic elements used to beautify the interior and exterior should be adjusted to the vision and mission of Adisumarmo airport, in this case Angasa Pura I. This research was carried out as an effort to discourse on an alternative design of a publick space. That’s why, this research studied the aesthetic elements of a public space and it aimed at providing Angkasa Pura I, Adi Sumarmo airport an alternative design of a public space. The other goal was that Adi Sumarmo airport would look more beautiful with the wisdom of local culture. This research is designed as a research studying the creation of a work of public art in a publick space located at Adi Sumarmo airport. The steps of the research are adjusted to the method for creating a work of art such as (1) an observation on the space form into which the work of art would be placed and the library study on public art and culture which would be an icon of Surakarta. (2) the data analysis and validation which would be used as the base or souce of creation, (3) the designing stage which brings out some alternative designs of a work of publick art which later become the aesthetic elements of the airport and a landmark of Surakarta as a city of culture. The result of this research is an alternative design of public art for the interior of Adi Sumarmo airport (Angkasa Pura I) consisting of a mural, reliefs of stone or brass/ bronze, threedimension statue, and a glass painting. The alternative design of public art for the interior of Adi Sumarmo airport (Angkasa Pura I) is adjusted to the image of the airport, the vision and mission of the airport as well as the aesthetic elements taken from the local culture, Javanese culture. Abstract

Surakarta city, then known as Solo, has a long history as part of the cultural centers of Java. “SoloPast is the Solo Future”, a slogan created by Solo City Government in an effort to make Solo as anicon of cultural heritage preservation. Solo is known as one tourist destination in Indonesia, which isrich in a variety of tourist attractions, ranging from cultural tourism, nature tourism, and culinarytours. Economic development and business in Solo can go hand in hand with the development, preservationof cultural heritage and tourism. Ngarsopuro is an area in front of the Mangkunegaran,which formerly lined electronics stores and antique markets called Triwindu. Ngarsopuro region isseen as a cultural activity. As a tourist destination, Ngarsopuro Region needs to have an identity as adifferentiating factor and promotion. It is necessary for a studies associated with Visual IdentityNgarsopuro area for promoting tourism potential.This design study will design a visual identity for the region as a destination brand Ngarsopuro, soresearch conducts with qualitative studies. To design a visual identity Ngarsopuro Region Solo willrequire methods to acquire the concept and design results, among others, to study and data collectingprimary data and secondary data conducted by interview, observation and documentation of data onthe scope of Ngarsopuro area, potential and excellence and values contained in Javanese culture.The visual identity of a company is not only formed by a logo, but also the supporting visual elementsthat appear in each component company. With consistency in the use of visual elements in a companywill further strengthen the position and identity of the company in the eyes of the visitor or relatedparties. Abstract

This research represents an action research that put the data as a material processing for research activities as a performance model of BaronganAnak (kids Barongan). Barongan is one of the folk arts that havetaken root in Blora. It is related to their belief that Barongan is reputed to protect and it can be seen in the ritual ceremony Lamporan. During this time, Barongan is presented in procession for ritual as well as national ceremony. After watching the kids play Barongan and imitateBarongan movements, there appears an idea to do research and to design a performance model of the Barongan Anak. The performance model needs to be introduced to the society in order to make regeneration and conserving local cultures. The method used in the research is experimentation and formation. Experimentation method is used to seek the alternative of performance model and the formation method is used to make a model.Keywords: model, kids Barongan, transmission system, inheritance.

Abstract

Bedhaya Ketawang dance is a dance developed in the Surakarta Palace. This dance in ancient times should only be performed when Jumenengan sinuwun. The development of this dance can then be danced outside the palace walls. The problem in this study is how the philosophical values contained in the Bedhaya Ketawang Dance and how the existence of the Bedhaya Ketawang Dance existed in the past with the present. The benefits of this research are entitled Philosophical Values in Bedhaya Ketawang Dance (Its existence in the past with the present) is to find philosophical values in the Bedhaya Ketawang Dance and see its existence in the past with the present. Research on Philosophical Values in Bedhaya Ketawang Dance is a type of library research. Library research is a study carried out by examining a number of libraries that are used as references. Abstract

The multimedia applicatiton, its aesthetic, and its contents are threechotomy which is inherent to the interractive education planning. All of these must be have an equal function if a developer wish to have an optimal results to the education process. This research will explore the keris as a multimedia materialapplied to the education process. This also contains an applied creation which is combine between keris education 's contents and an aesthetic of multimediaa material. The creation of “keris multimedia material" is not only given to the information purposes, but it also to have a contents in what kind of edutaive efiectwill working by using humanism approach. Abstract

Garin Nugroho is regarded as a film director who managed to put the local culture in the midst of global cultural dominance. Garin is also as one of the few directors in various parts of the world who do not like to repeat expressions. In every of his film works, Garin is capable of doubling his role asscreenwriter as well as a producer. Garin Nugroho’s selection of creative attitude is unique if juxtaposed with other Indonesian cinematographer-filmmaker. Therefore, it is interesting to examine about the creativity concept of Garin Nugroho and his involvement in the film industry in Indonesia.In regard to review on these issues, the theory of creativity is used to observe the creative attitudes and the ideas that underlie Garin’s movie creation process. The data that were used to reveal matterswere the three films of Garin Nugroho that entitledSurat Untuk Bidadari, Bulan Tertusuk Ilalang, and Opera Jawa. The data was obtained through the data collection techniques that include documentation, literature, and interviews. The result of this research shows that through the work of his movies, Garin attempted to reveal thatthere is harmony and balance in position between the local and the global value,where the selection of creative attitude shows a spirit of multiculturalism. Garin’s animating spirit of multiculturalism is not only demonstrated through his work, but also on his creative actions during the process of creating a movie. In this case, Garin is not only as a film director, but he is also as a humanist.Keywords: creativity, movie director, movies.

Abstract

Stand product is an important tool that is used to support the smooth operation of the business in thepublic space for entrepreneurs. Stand product used by employers to display merchandise products inorder to attract visitors to come and make transactions, so as to increase the income of smallentrepreneurs.This applied research aims to determine the condition of the product PKL Stand NightMarket Ngarsopuro, then perform analysis and sinteta, then do engineering design in accordancewith ergonomic aspects and kulural. Stand so that there can function optimally support the view theproducts offered, to increase sales turnover PKL. Give a touch of local culture so that tourists whocome to identify with both local content in Surakarta. Creation of art / design endeavors to utilizewood waste material discarded packaging / pallets which are found in Surakarta container terminalto be used again. Applied research objects of art / design is PKL Stand Night Market Ngarsopuro, themethods used in descriptive qualitative approach supported by quantitative data, or can also becalled dual research strategy. Kuantitafif here using numerical data which is the result of the measurement field, and then compared with the reference referred, sources and analyzed by researchersinterpretation. Activities beginning with product discovery phase to obtain a result of the creation ofinnovations in product design process.The results of applied research art / design show that the standthat there is now not yet meet the standards of ergonomics and yet showed a touch of culture. Abstract

This article is based On individual research focussed on barongsai and its journey in Surakarta after the reformation era. Barongsai art performance in New Orde era is paid less attention as a creative pmduct. It has developed after post reformation era. This kind of Chinese ethnic performance has changed artistically and technically after the reformation era. Barongsai, in the former~ is usedfor ritual usage and it has been changing nowadays especially for social funcion. This article examines baron gsai of Chinese ethnic through special approach and interpretative description based on its data sources empirically. Barongsai art performance as an material object would be exposed as much as possible while it is accompanied by everything which supports its existence nowdays. Several things indicate that baron gsai appearence had been supported by ritual needs, social needs, aesthetic needs, and existence needs. Barongsai and its development during the post reformation era give much impact to its existence connected to afair regulation and the changes of societiy which gradually welcoming upon this kind of art performance. Even it is often related to the frequently shows increase among Chinese ethnic who perform the barongsai and it shows us, in other way, that the creative world must be appeared in the field ofperforining arts. Keywords: barongsai, continuities, change, reformation

Abstract

Semarang city has twice the city branding efforts. Some studies suggest that both efforts have failedbecause they are not based on research and benchmarking optimally. This study will try to do theexperimental creation of city branding to Semarang with the involvement of public participation throughvisualization method with aids such as visual recording production by targeting Simpanglima regionas an area that is considered to represent the city of Semarang.
