Abstract

The death of Dursasana in Baratayuda from time to time got a response (reception) of community supporters. Reader responses poured in various forms, such as a copy into different languages, in different forms of literature, and the performing arts. Responses occurred perhaps because literary life always offers value relefan with his time. This study is the preparation of the historical development of the story Dushasana death, either in the form of literature written and oral literature. In accordance with its objectives, this study is receptive to both approaches and methods. The final goal of this research focuses on the transformation of the death of Dursasana in the war of Baratayuda.Keywords: literature, relevant, response, various forms.

Abstract

Traditional market in Surakarta is still preserved and being part of economic activity of the society,despite the increasing number of supermarkets. The revitalization of these markets is one of the medium-term development plans of Surakarta because compared to the other sources, traditional markets make the biggest contribution to the local government revenue. One of these markets is thewestern part of Pasar Gedhe Hardjonagoro whose commodities are fresh fruits. Unfortunately, therehabilitation and renovation programs are only focused on the main building. The inside area wherethe trade activities between sellers and buyers happen is excluded from the rehabilitation program.Considering Pasar Gedhe as a tourist destination, the needs of market management especially fordisplaying the product is essential to attract the consumers and tourists. This article is the result of anapplied research in interior design about the design of display system of fruit sellers in the westernpart of Pasar Gedhe Hardjonagoro in Surakarta. This applied research is a qualitative descriptiveanalysis with case study approach. The work employs functional, ergonomic, thematic, and stylishapproaches for the design solution. The result acquired from the interior design research is a zoningwhich is divided into selling, circulation and service, outdoor zone, and managing the circulation andtwo-side services, and creating the interior theme. While the result on the display design is the designneeds to be able to functionally support the trade activities, easy to maintenance, solid, long-lasting,safe, the display system represents the locality, and how the commodities can be an interesting visualattraction. The display system is designed to be an open layout system so that it creates a sociocultural interaction for the people within the market.Keywords: Pasar Gedhe rehabilitation, zoning, display system, functionality, visual attraction.

Abstract

Barang Miring music composition is inspired by the musical gamelan of sekaten, a set of ancient ensamble called Kyahi GunturMadu and Kyahi Guntur Sari of Surakarta Palace. This unique musical gamelan is often used by compésers in their creations. It has also been using sources of creation, creative materials, creativity approach, imitation, etc. Gamelan itself generally accompanies other performance like dance, puppet show, and even the gamelan performance itself Based on this phenomenon 1 would like to examine a gamelan Sekaten as an object of material. Through this article I present the musical creation based on gamelan sekaten tradition and actualize through the new creation called Barang Miring. gendhing Barang Miring of gamelan sekaten will be the main sources because of its uniqueness as a major repertoire of gamelan sekaten. It is performed traditionally after the Adzan Asyhar when the Moslem does their sholat. This article also strive a reason of what kind of concept of Barang Miring (minur) into the concept of gamelan ageng performance. Abstract

This study attempts to solve common problems faced in ceramic finishing. Finishing ceramic objects is different from resolving other matters. Glaze is a type of glass coating that is applied to coat the ceramic object. This is an interesting layer to be studied because the success of glaze applications in ceramics is influenced by many factors. Glaze applications on ceramic objects have a very high level of difficulty. The difficulty is seen in glaze formulas, application techniques, firing temperature, shrinkage of dry matter and the successful achievement of color after glazing the combustion process. This research is to determine whether the clay character influence on the success rate of the color will appear. The research method uses the experimental method. This method is considered more appropriate to determine the level of success of an experiment relating to the material containing chemical elements. The research is done in the studio ceramics P4TK Art and Culture of Yogyakarta.The clay used is a type of stoneware clay which has five classes of characters. They are as follows: 1. Pacitan soil, wet soil that has a reddish color, 2. Singkawang soil, wet soil that has a whitish colour, 3.Sukabumi has a brightly colored ground and wet floor is beige, with 4. Sukabumi, the dark ground, wet soil that has a dark brown color, 5. Bojonegoro soil, wet soil that has a light brown color. The five characters color glazing that shall be applied on the surface of clay are: 1. young Greens, 2. Pink, and 3. Greenish blue, 4. Brown 5. Dark blue.The character of clay has relatively large contribution to the emergence of color glaze in accordance to the purpose or the plan, especially when using a formula based on the glossy glaze. Glaze formula will tend to be stable when there is a combination of stain with a glade oxide. Stable formula can also be found on the matched glaze because its glaze was close or not transparent. Coloring oxides are very sensitive to the character of soil. temperature change is cobalt and fee, experiment that required in advance when the formula contains two types of oxide glaze. Burning with the reduction or oxidation also will give effect to the glaze colors that will appear. Keywords: experiment, five colors glaze, five characters clay

Abstract

Preparation of dance with the title “Cakil Juga Manusia (Cakil Also Human: Ing)” inspired by some contemporary thinking associated with the figure of Cakil. In the world of show tradition Puppet Stage, Cakil identical as antagonist iconic to the nature of evil and bad. Nevertheless, its presence is always awaited by the audience because of its motion is interesting, distinctive, attractive and acrobatic. In addition to the motion, the character traits that ngglece using everyday language of populist dialogue considered communicative audience. The show is entertaining and communicative as well as the populist spur compilers for presenting a claim jogetan Cakil new ones with shades of populist. Ina fragment of a story, Cakil presented as being humane because it has love, has the property of honest, innocent, and innocent. The work “Cakil Juga Manusia” try to work on one scene that is packaged in a dance drama story about inner feelings Cakil figure in romance. The process of this work is done by a coherent process stages. Starting from the literature, field studies, data reduction,the discovery of forms till, independent search process, the selection of dancers, the production team selection, implementation of the exercises, the deepening and strengthening of the work, up to the staging. This work is specifically aimed to re-discover the contrast of the characters Cakil. The rationale behind the idea of this work is the desire to realize the humanity of Cakil, that he has a love,feelings, loyalty, and a sense of sensibility. This effort will greatly affect the appearance of vokabulervokabuler new motion in the frame of a typical motion Ceklekan. Novelty characters and their Cakil vokabuler new motion will be attempted to be developed in the frame of narrative fragments of stories. This will add to the challenges of exploration and character motion in the cultivation process works.Keywords: Cakil, the concept works, fragments of Love, and Ceklekan.

Abstract

This research is a field study that examines the karawitan (Javanese music) of Karaton and Mangkunegaran. The selection is based on the material objects of historical reality and the fact of music. It is that they have enough problems as interesting and actual scientific studies to increase the repertoire of Karawitan. Surakarta palace compound and Mangkunegaran are two important pillarssupporting musical identity of Surakarta style. The issue of the Palace and Mangkunegaran Karawitan is an interesting topic to be studied from the various viewpoints. This is because the two kingdoms are at Surakarta style musical territory, but producethe different musical works. Idioms and vocabulariesare working on covering the game Ricikan and gending repertoire.The work of gending between the two are the same but the result of musical taste shows differences. The second issue of the royal musicians is increasingly attractive when the marriage is bond between the Mangkunegaran and Yogyakarta Sultanate.The physical and aesthetic (musical) characteristics are identic between the two. The marriage eventually leds to the musical dance of Yogyakarta style of Mangkunegaran. Although it is said to be identic but on the other hand it is also flowing style of Surakarta. This study aims to reveal the differences and similarities between the music and the dance of KaratonMangkunegaran. The discussionsof the two are limited to the Dance Srimpi. To uncover this needs the use of textual and contextual approaches. Textual studies focus on the shape, form, and elements inherent in the study of arts subjects. The musicians sit as a text to be read and interpreted,and thecontextual approach is used to reveal the factors behind the development and the difference between the two. This topic is important to be examined because the study that focuses on the comparison of dance music between the Palace and Mangkunegaran has never been done.Keywords: Cross culture, karawitan, dance Srimpi, palace, differences and similarities.

Abstract

The advertisement is an important element in culture because it reflects and attempts to change our life style. Advertisment does not only offer commodity, but it also offers sexuality, beauty, facilitation, modernity, happiness, success, and status. Talking about television advertisement through cultural perpective is an unfailing topic to discuss because it is related to the broad and crucial question. The advertisement intens to give stimulation to the target audience in order to create buying and selling condition. So does television advertisement to reach a wider target, it will be more effective to the advertisers if they use this media. The research takes the category of body treatment advertised in television electronic media. The advertisement of shampoo products to be compared in this research are : Pantene Pro-V Shampoo advertisement and CLEAR Shampoo advertisement, where both advertisement contain comparative stategy. The research finds that the three advertisements of the shampoo product, the comparative of the way to use the product, and the comparative from the product itself so it can be categorized that comparative strategy from both shampoo products burn into monotonous and tend to be cliché.Keyword : television advertisement, comparative strategy, shampoo product

Abstract

The learning process is an interactive activity that occurs between educators and learners, and therefore it takes a comfortable and pleasant atmosphere in living it. One effort to create such process is with the selection of models and means of learning in accordance with the character of the course and target of learning.  Scientific Writing Guidance (Bimbingan Penulisan Karya Ilmiah/BPKI) is a fourth semester course on Television and Film Study Program, Department of Recorded Media Art, Faculty of Art and Design, Indonesian Institute of the Arts at Surakarta. This classroom action research that combines Inquiry learning methods and Drilling used Facebooksocial media as a means of learning.  This was used not as a medium for disseminating face-to-face material but as a media to upload student learning outcomes. The action cycle was implemented twice. The results of this study showed an average increase in the value of learning outcomes by 40% and very high learning motivation. Keywords: Inquiry, Drilling, Facebook

Abstract

Kassian Cephas and Andreas Darwis Triadi are two most popular photographers who become benchmarks in the development of pa trait photography in Indonesialheir photos are able to bring them to higher position and are able to make Indonesia being in the same place to other developed notions in photography of their era. Analysis result through aesthetic approach of potrait photography towards potrait photos produced by Kassihan Cephas ( I 845 — I 912) and Andreas Darwis Triadi shows that the works are produced by the process of creating which is built of aesthetic values so that they are able to lift civilization of each photograph artist. The works are also produced by a good skill of photography technique as well as creativity skill with high aesthetic touch. It can be seen from the costume, make up, style, and property used increating woman portrait photography. But it also cannot leave the human practical needs to support their daily lives such as spiritual need and personal interest.Key words: Potrait Photography, Aesthetics, Kassian Cephas and Darwis Triadi.

Abstract

The mobility of human being needs a transit space. Airport as a transit space or terminal has a facilityto support the activity of the air traffic. Based on the activity, space on the airport is divided intoseveral criteria. There are public area, private area and service area.Public area is a space that canbe acces by visitor with or without requirement. Airport public space is different from another terminalpublic space. This research uses graphic analysis with interpretation discription. Graphic analysis isused to identify the room visual structure. Interpretative analysis is used to explore the connection ofform and room function.
