Abstract

This research is motivated by the difficulties in monitoring the implementation of Lecture of Real Work Lecture/Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN). Google Maps digital map application owned by Google is integrated with SMS input data from each KKN service post with various information. This system design method is to conduct initial study problems in the field, observation and literature study as well as interviews about system requirements made. Interviews were conducted to those related to KKN activities, including Coordinator and field supervisor/Dosen Pembimbing Lapangan(DPL) KKN. Research data is used to get the system needs made related to SMS input data, SMS data format, and display, as well as technical data in the field, including signal coverage and cell phone signal strength. From the data collected, it is analyzed to apply Geographic Information System (GIS) based on SMS Gateway to monitor KKN activities in real time. The use of SMS is chosen with consideration of the presence of stronger 2G (phone and SMS) signals than 3G and 4G signals (Internet data signals) in remote locations. The SMS format used is: KKN # LOCATION # INFORMATION. GIS is displayed in the form of markers and  windows information on the Google Maps map containing information that may change according to the content of the SMS sent from each KKN post. Furthermore the system is tested to determine the response to data sent via SMS. Keywords: KKN, GIS, SMS.

Abstract

Television, both as a phenomenon as well as a cultural agent, is framing the world by means of linguistic codes. This cultural and media studies-based research applies Stuart Hall’s theories of representation and identity by which the Barthesian’s visual semiotics approach and postcolonial perspective as analysis method are used. This research aims at (a) identifying how Indonesian culture has been visualised and narrated. The result of the research confirms several points: hybrid condition bedwen tradisional and modern, the Indonesian culture has been uttering by the narrator.Keywords: postcolonial perspective, visualisation, narative, Indonesian culture

Abstract

Typeface as a print advertising communication element has an important role to convey the message.There are many variations in the use of type application in typography. One is a kind of decorativetypeface. The existence of decorative letters during the Dutch East Indies in terms of silografi iswidely used in newspapers. Currently the use of decorative letters is less productive because it is onlyused as a supplement and as an aesthetic element. The creation of works of decorative letters will adddigital reference letters in adopting elements of local culture in the motif. The chosen motif to thesource of creation decorative letters is like motif kawung of Surakarta and Yogyakarta batik stylesthat have a common history. The application of this new type of decorative fonts as supporting visualaesthetic in design wedding invitations, especially themed Javanese batik or marriage. The method ofcreation is through the stages of observation and exploration, experimentation, creation and applicationin the design of wedding invitation cards.Keywords: Decorative letter, batik, wedding invitations

Abstract

This research on art work is entitled “Pohaci”, (Hartanto, S. Sn., M. Sn., 2012, 50 pages). The Grants are funded by DIPA 2012 ISI Surakarta. Pohaci is a dance which is inspired by the story of Dewi Sri or Nyai Pohaci Sanghyang Sri, the rice goddess story from West Java. This work takes the figure of Dewi Sri as a reflection of Javanese women who have the elegance, beauty, softness, flexibility, goodness and perfection of a woman. The creation lasts for 27 minutes which is performed as a new form of work. The problem of research includes how the story of Sanghyang Sri Pohaci treated in a different concept is and how the form of the dance work “Pohaci” is. The purpose of the study is asan abstraction of the female figure as well as the contents which will be realized in art form through Bedhayan genre. In addition, it adds knowledge and repertoire of dance work that comes from the literature of arts. The method used in the research is interpretation and construction. Interpretationmethod is a method through interpretation of the various elements on the content, form, movement, music, fashion and make up lighting. Construction method is a method to do the activity of composing starting from the movement design until the work composition.Alpha The result of study is the dancework “Pohaci” which pick up the figure of Dewi Sri which is identified by Javanese women. The form of treatment is Bedhayan using seven (7) female dancers accompanied by Javanese gamelan and its development.Keywords: Pohaci, the art of dance, Dewi Sri, Javanese women.

Abstract

This research is meant to prove the result of aesthetic aspect in wayang kulit performance of Jawa Timur style categorized as ‘kerakyatan (folk)’ pakeliran. The problem is analyzed based on the concept of ‘garap pakeliran’ offered by Sugeng Nugroho (2012) and the theory belongs to Umar Kayam (1981) concerning arts categorization. The method used is qualitative method with descriptive analysis. The data is collected through library study, documentation studies, interview, and field observation. The research finding shows that the current wayang kulit performance of Jawa Timur style cannot be categorized as folk art but rather to be kitsch. It represents a performing art that always change and move on along the time. It is attempted to be more interesting supposed to be survived and to earn money.Keywords: wayang kulit, Jawa Timuran, performance treatment.

Abstract

Atmodirono is experimentation screenwriting science fiction genre with the approach of historiography and science of cartography or mapping the city of Semarang. Historiography raised is related to the history of the city of Semarang from its inception to the present. In terms of cartography, this filmfocuses on the potential uniqueness map of Semarang who have axes secret that connects several points in the city of Semarang and other points in the world. Experimentation methods of mapping using the online application Google Earth Remote Sensing.Meanwhile, as the binder story, based onthe life story Atmodirono, an architect first Natives in the Dutch East Indies, where life is still rarely discussed and mysterious. Scriptwriting method used is the method of Richard Krevolin, who can work to work on the screenplay adaptation of the various processes that allow, in this case the historyof the city. Abstract

Ruth Marini’s creative process in performing Wanci Monologue by Imas Sobariah, was Ruth Marini’sattempt in exploring various stages of work or creativity in the role of Icih as the main character in WanciMonologue. As a consequence of the singular characterization of the monologue, the subsequent searchwas directed at the specific creativity that Ruth Marini had done in transforming the Icih character to therole of several other figures as a result of Icih’s narrative of her past which later spawned tragic stories inher life. The search for this creative process was thus focused on the creative ways that Ruth Marinipursued in developing role play or acting, including the stimulants that supported the maximal acting ofRuth Marini in the Imas Sobariah’s Wanci Monologue.Stimulants that were excavated for the developmentof Ruth Marini’s acting was traced through various views of Ruth Marini works of art, especially RuthMarini’s perspective on acting in a monologue. The conclusion of the views of art and acting would bepreceded by exploring some of Ruth Marini’s works of art through previous performances to understandRuth Marini’s contributions to her artistic enrichment process, specifically to the development of actingthat was required in the Wanci Monologue by Imas Sobariah.Keywords: Monologue,art perspective, acting.

Abstract

What I would like to write down here is an article which strong focuses on Tan Thiam Kwie as a maestro music education. This article originally is a research based on Tan Thiam Kwie as a person who dedicated to his life in the field of music education. This article use a historical method especially in addition by using oral history method and its relation with local history perspectives. Because of the concentration range proposed to be his musical life and his dedication to the Western Music education in Indonesia, so that the article connected to the examination of Western music education and its education institutionally establised throuugh the founding of the Sekolah Musik Indonesia (SMIND) and Akademi Musik Indonesia (AM!) on 1952 in Yogyakarta. There is a logic reason when Mr. Tan as a one of founder this music education institutionally connected to his loyality and his dedication to his own life. Keywords: local history, a maestro, music education.

Abstract

This research is dedicated to reveal cultural phenomenon of the Suran sacred ceremony at a model forthe art perpetuation at village Tutu Ngisor, Sumber, district Dukun in Magelang. Suran is derivedfrom the word Suro as the first month of Javanese calendar. Suro month is identical to Muhharammonth in Hijjrah calendar. In the common Javanese society, it is believed that in the first month ofSuro (midnight Suro) they will have introspection of their selfness of doing activities nepi (finding aplace for keeping silent), kungkum (stand still inside of the water) and lek lekan (stay awake until inthe morning) in certain places like the peak of mountain, the estuary of river (tempuran) or sacredcemeteries. In the village of Tutup Ngisor, Sumber, district Dukun, Magelang, Suran is held in themiddle of month which is from 13-15 in the full moon. Suran in the village of Tutup Ngisor, Sumberdistrict Dukun, Magelang is supported by the society that has blood bound in one region. Suran inthe village of Tutup Ngisor , Sumber, disctrict Dukun, Magelang is as one of the art perpetuationmodel held by a community. The concept belongs to protection prevention, developing and dynamicusage.Giving all attention to the sacred ceremony in the village of Tutup Ngisor, Sumber districtDukun, Magelang, we find some factors that create art perpetuation. The factors are geographic site,supported society, natural surroundings, the figure of Romo Yoso Soedarmo at the pioneer art workshop,the ceremony continuity, the influence from all people like artists, cultural artists, and the publicfigure.The perpetuation of art in the village of Tutup Ngisor, Sumber, district Dukun , Magelang has impactfor the creativity and quantity of art living in another village around the village Tutup Ngisor, Sumber,district Dukun, Magelang. This research uses grounded theory approach. Grounded theory approachemphasizes the examination of behavior so this research does not take from a certain theory but fromthe data result to get a theory even it does not take from the reduced variables from a theory. Furthermore,the grounded theory research does not have to get influence from literature because it will stopcreativity in collection, understanding and analyzing the data.Keywords: Suran, art perpetuation
