Abstract

This article attempts to unravel the role of a city drowning in a sea of history in the process of transition Islamic sciences in Europe. The analysis shows that the Sicilian town does not contribute less important than Andalusia and Granada in the transformation of science. This is because the attitude that Christian leaders built tends to differ with the leaders of Andalusia and Granada. Religious tolerance attitude and glorification of science are the mark of Christian leaders in Sicily. Therefore, although the city is no longer led by Sicilia Muslims, Islamic education remained in this prestigious Sicilia community. Theoretically, this study shows that a decision in favor of the development of the teaching of science can give back and forth, and it is not because of a problem of religion that is embraced by the authorities.

Abstract

Pendidikan pada dasarnya merupakan usaha yang dilakukan secara sadar oleh orang dewasa dalam rangka mendewasakan peserta didik. Usaha tersebut berupa bantuan bimbingan dan pengajaran kepada peserta didik baik dilakukan secara pribadi dalam keluarga maupun secara terorganisasi disekolah. Pendidikan itu umumnya dilakukan dalam suatu proses komunikasi antara pendidik dan peserta didik, dimana pendidikan membawa peserta didika kearah tujuan yang ingin dicapai yaitu tujuan pendidikan. Tujuan pendidikan merupakan gambaran kedewasaan yang diinginkan oleh suatu masyarakat sesuai dengan pandangan hidup masyarakat itu. Di Indonesia tujuan pendidikan itu dirumuskan di dalam undang-undang nomor 2 tentang system pendidikan nasional yaitu manusia dewasa yang utuh, cerdas, beriman dan bertaqwa kepada Tuhan Yang Maha Esa, berbudi pekerti luhur, memiliki pengetahuan dan keterampilan, sehat jasmani dan rohani, berkepribadian yang mantap dan mandiri serta rasa tanggung jawab kemasyarakatan dan kebangsaan. Untuk mencapai tujuan itu, diperlukan tidak hanya usaha yang dilakukan secara sadar, tetapi juga harus sistematis dan terencana yang dilakukan oleh sekelompok orang yang menpunyai wewenang dan tanggung jawab untuk itu. Usaha seperti itu umumnya dilakukan di sekolah sebagai suatu organisasi kerja di bidang pendidikan tempat berlangsungnya proses komunikasi pendidikan.

Abstract

This article discusses about the relationship of the Sultanate of Sambas and Bugis through script Tuhfat al-Nafis. The study of Malay manuscripts which have historical value would be useful in the study of Malay historiography. In TN has been providing information about the relationship between the Sultanate of Sambas and Bugis through marriage between Daeng Kemase and sister of Sultan Umar Aqamaddin I named Raden Tengah. Relationships that are woven through the marriage give influence to the development of Islam in Sambas, which with the arrival of Shaykh Abdul al-Jalil al-Fatani from Patani in Southern Thailand.

Abstract

The emergence of religious-based institutions, be it social or profit oriented in nature, is often suspected of being a threat to other religions because it is feared the presence of these institutions comes with a mission of heresy. It often appears among the community. Therefore, amid the mushrooming Shariah financial institutions either banks or non banks, the researcher would like to find out the response of non-Muslim religious figures toward the Shariah financial institutions.

Abstract

This research discusses the improvement of learning achievement among students of the faculty of Sharia particularly the departments of Ahwal as-shakhsiyyah and Muamalah. This is because both are religion-based and newly-opened departments in the Sharia Faculty. Therefore, the researcher is interested in doing research on learning outcomes of the usul fiqh course viewed from the educational background of the students in both majors before entering college. Preliminary observations show that learning outcomes in usul fiqh among students of Ahwal as-Shakhsiyyah and Muamalah class of 2014 with a background of public schools and religious schools tend to be similar. In fact, students of religious educational background should have better outcomes than their peers with in public school educational background. This research focuses on the following problems: 1) the learning outcomes in the course of Usul Fiqh among Students of Ahwal as-shakhsiyyah and Muamalah 2014 who graduated from religious schools; 2) the learning outcomes in the course of Usul Fiqh among Students of Ahwal as-shakhsiyyah and Muamalah 2014 who graduated from public schools; 3) comparison between the learning outcomes in the course of Usul Fiqh among Students of Ahwal as-shakhsiyyah and Muamalah 2014 who graduated from religious schools and those who from Public schools. This research uses a quantitative approach that is descriptive analytical. Techniques used in data collection are assessment techniques and techniques of documentary studies. The technique of data analysis uses descriptive analysis and t-test using SPSS calculations. The research found that: the learning outcomes in the course of Usul Fiqh among Students of Ahwal as-shakhsiyyah and Muamalah 2014 who graduated from religious schools were good. Second, the learning outcomes in the course of Usul Fiqh among Students of Ahwal as-shakhsiyyah and Muamalah 2014 who graduated from public schools were quite good, and third there was indifferent achievement the learning outcomes in the course of Usul Fiqh among Students of Ahwal as-shakhsiyyah and Muamalah 2014 who graduated from religious schools and those who from Public schools.

To Esack, theology that is focuses too much on God --while God does not need to be taken care of-- is redundant and consumes too much unnecessary energy. Abstract

Most of natural science teachings and science textbooks used in the schools were lack of religious values that enable to enhance students’ faith of God, the creator of the universe. Integrating and providing the Islamic spirits or religious values to the teaching-learning processes of products of science (facts, concepts, and principles) should be undertaken. By this way, we hope, materialism or secularism point of views could be eliminated. It is not a science teacher task, but ours as moslems as well.

Abstract

Fazlur Rahman was a historical scientist who developed himself in experience and thoughts along with the times and environment. His maturity in experience and thoughts made him an established figure as an objective and critical reformer even though he had to pay the price because he was accused as a westernizer, an orientalist, and even as a traitor of the Qur'an. The emergence of Rahman‘s ideas about the contribution to modernist Islamic education was based on his observations on the development of Islamic education in the modern era of Islam in several countries such as Turkey, Egypt, Pakistan and Indonesia, where he argued that it is still faced with a number of problems in education.

Abstract

To determine the start of lunar months, there are several methods that serve as the basis, among others by using the methods of hisab (calculation) and rukyat (new moon sighting). Actually, both hisab and rukyat have the same goal, namely hilal. Therefore, the two methods do not need to be disputed any more. In fact they complement each other. Calculation of the correct and accurate reckoning will certainly be proven by rukyat anyway. However, the problem remain for Muslims today is the critera imkan ar-rukyat (visibility of the new moon) used. If these problems can be overcome, then it is certain that Muslims are no longer stuck with the difference of opinions and views from many quarters about the determination of the beginning of the month, when the hilal is on a "critical" position. As for the criterion concerning the visibility of the new moon in Indonesia, which has been used by the Government and become standard in the determination of kamariah (Ramadhān, Syawāl and Dzulhijjah) is the height of hilal at 2 degrees, the Sun-Moon distance is a minimum of 3 degrees, or a minimum hilal period of 8 hours based on data collected by the Agency of Hisab and Rukyat of the Ministry of Religious Affairs from a variety of sources. This is an implementation of the legitimate law (the Qur'an and the Hadith) that serves as the basis in determining the beginning of the month. In addition, the validity of rukyat is first tested with astronomical data which are discussed in the next session of the forum and later in Isbat decided by the Government and becomes an alternative solution to the differences of opinion and views that may occur. The Government through the Minister of Religious Affairs serves as the holder of authority (qadi) which has the legal authority to determine the beginning of the Islamic fasting and holy day in isbāt session held annually. Through Ditjen Bimas Islam, the Agency of Hisab and Rukyat (BHR) was established which is in charge of conducting the study, research and development of matters relating to the implementation of the hisab-rukyat and worship. Therefore, Muslims also need to support the realization of an Islamic calendar (Hijri calendar), which gives the certainty of dates, not only used for the purpose of worship, but can also be used as a civil calendar for everyday purposes, such as trade, business and other administrative activities.

Abstract

Eighteenth century AD, is the development of science in Europe, at this time there are many books which were translated into European languages such as physics, chemistry and medicine. The knowledge development had affects the separation between science and religion of European society at that time. The scientists were discovered some theories of knowledge that always contrary to the opinion of the church so that not a few of them must die on the gallows. Religious books in they opinion only contain superstition and illogical doctrine that makes them imprisoned in ignorance. This development brings a huge impact on the Islamic world and Muslims. The Muslims scholars are required to maintain the authenticity of Islamic religious teachings that are not in conflict with science. They develop scientific interpretation (tafsîr 'ilmy) in order to prove the miracles of the Koran. So that Islam can prove and answer all the challenges of the times. The interpretation of Koran by using the experimental sciences has produced many books of scientific interpretation (tafsîr 'ilmy) and became an important reference. However, did not rule out this development led to the shift of functions of the Koran as a guidance holy book to the book of knowledge by some mufassir which interpreted influenced by foreign cultures, so that Koran interpretation was leaning on ra'yi (pure opinion) and exit from the rules of correct interpretation (tafsîr). This incident makes Muslims scholars in Egypt and Syria encouraged to determine the position of the correct scientific interpretation (tafsîr 'ilmy) of the incorrect scientific interpretations (tafsîr 'ilmy).
