Abstract

This study aims to describe the mistakes of students in solving problems on the arithmetic sequence and series material in terms of mathematical communication skills. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. The subjects of this study were 27 class XI students of SMK Negeri 1 Air Joman for the 2019/2020 academic year. The test instrument used in this study was in the form of 3 test questions that referred to indicators of mathematical communication skills including (1) expressing mathematical ideas or problems through writing, (2) using terms, notations, and mathematical symbols in presenting problems. mathematics, (3) expressing mathematical ideas or problems visually in the form of graphs, diagrams or tables, (4) interpreting mathematical ideas or problems in their own language, and (5) drawing conclusions from mathematical statements. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that students made mistakes in answering question number 1 as much as 48%, students 'errors in answering question number 2 were 26%, and students' errors in answering question number 3 were 38%.

Abstract

This study aimed at describing the errors of students in solving problems in the matrix material in terms of students’ reasoning ability. This type of research is a qualitative approarch with a descriptive research methodology that aims at determining the description of the analysis of errors and differences in errors made by students in solving mathematical problems. The subjects of this study were 30  students of class X in SMA N 2 Tanjungbalai in the academic year of 2019-2020. The test instrument used in this study was in the form of 5 question test that referred to indicators of reasoning ability including (1) presenting mathematical statements in writing, diagrams or pictures. (2) construct valid arguments. (3) give reasons for the truth of the solution. (4) draw conclusions form logical statements. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that students made errors in answering question number 1 as much as 53%, students’ errors in answering question number 2 as much as 53%, students’ errors in answering question number 3 as much as 46%, students’ errors in answering question number 4 as much as 30%, and students’ errors in answering question number 5 as much as 53%. As for the errors in each indicator that is 7,3% errors in indicator 1, 30,6% errors in indicator 2, 28% errors in indicator 3, and 28,6% errors in indicator 4.

Abstract

This study examines the effects of learning interest (X1) and learning motivation (X2) on students’ mathematical understanding ability (Y) among Grade 10 students at SMA Negeri 1 Dolok Batu Nanggar in the 2024/2025 academic year. A quantitative approach was employed with a sample of 52 students selected through proportional random sampling. Data on interest and motivation were collected using questionnaires, while mathematical understanding was measured using an essay-type test. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS 21, preceded by assumption testing. The Kolmogorov–Smirnov test indicated that all variables were normally distributed (interest Sig. = .207; motivation Sig. = .517; understanding Sig. = .358; all > .05). Regression results showed that interest had a positive and significant effect on mathematical understanding (β = .799, t = 9.397, p < .001), and motivation also had a positive and significant effect (β = .601, t = 5.320, p < .001). Simultaneously, interest and motivation significantly predicted mathematical understanding (F = 60.156, p < .001) with R² = .711, indicating that 71.1% of the variance in mathematical understanding was explained by the two predictors. In the multiple regression model, interest was the more dominant predictor compared to motivation (βinterest = .663 > βmotivation = .301). These findings highlight the importance of strengthening students’ learning interest and motivation to improve mathematical understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of interpersonal intelligence (X1) and logical–mathematical intelligence (X2) on students’ mathematical reasoning ability (Y) of grade XI MIPA students at SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar. This research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The sample consisted of 72 students selected using proportional random sampling. Data on interpersonal intelligence were collected using a questionnaire, while logical–mathematical intelligence and mathematical reasoning ability were measured using essay tests. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS version 21 after passing prerequisite tests including normality and linearity tests. The results showed that interpersonal intelligence had a positive and significant effect on mathematical reasoning ability (t = 3.418, p < 0.05), and logical–mathematical intelligence also had a positive and significant effect on mathematical reasoning ability (t = 6.613, p < 0.05). Simultaneously, interpersonal intelligence and logical–mathematical intelligence significantly influenced mathematical reasoning ability (F = 33.215, p < 0.05). The coefficient of determination showed R² = 0.491, indicating that 49.1% of the variance in students’ mathematical reasoning ability was explained by interpersonal intelligence and logical–mathematical intelligence. These findings indicate that both interpersonal and logical–mathematical intelligence play an important role in improving students’ mathematical reasoning ability.

Abstract

The Effect of the Autograph-Assisted RADEC Learning Model in terms of the Mathematical Literacy Ability of Class X Students in the Driving School on the Quadratic Equation Material. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was an influence in the application of the Autograph-assisted RADEC learning model in terms of the mathematical literacy abilities of class X students in the driving school on the quadratic equation material. This type of research is pre-experimental with one pretest-posttest research design. The population in this study were all class X which consisted of 3 classes. The research sample only had 1 class, namely class X-1 with purposive sampling. Previously, students were given a pretest, which obtained an average of 68.23. After that, students will be given treatment in the form of learning by applying the signature-assisted RADEC learning model. After the learning was completed, the posttest score was obtained with an average value of 85.55. The results of the T test obtained that tcount is 11.330 and ttable at a significance of a = 0.05 is 1.68 so that tcount > ttable (11.330 > 1.68), which means H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus the effect of the autograph-assisted RADEC learning model on the mathematical literacy ability of class X students in the driving school on the quadratic equation material is obtained.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa menggunakan model pembelajaran Search,Solve, Create, Share berbantuan macromedia flash lebih baik daripada kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa menggunakan metode ceramah pada siswa kelas X SMK Swasta Darul Jalal Asahan Tahun Ajaran 2021/2022. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X yang terdiridari 2 kelas. Sampel penelitian ada 2 kelas. Pada kelas X1 sebagai kelas eksperimen menggunakan model pembelajaran Search,Solve, Create, Share berbantuan macromedia flash dan pada kelas X2 sebagai kelas kontrol dengan menggunakan metode ceramah. Setelah pembelajaran selesai diberikan, diperoleh postest dengan hasil rata-ratakelas eksperimen 84,8 dan kelas kontrol 74. Hasil uji t diperoleh ????ℎ???????????????????? = 5,0199 > ???????????????????????? = 1,68595 maka ????0 ditolak dan ???????? diterima. Dengan demikian, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa menggunakan menggunakan model pembelajaran Search,Solve, Create, Share berbantuan macromedia flash lebih baik daripada kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa menggunakan metode ceramah pada siswa kelas X SMK Swasta Darul Jalal Asahan.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' learning motivation in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study uses a qualitative approach with a questionnaire as a measuring tool used. And the study was conducted at Al Ma'shum Kisaran High School involving 17 students of class XI-MIA 3. The data collection technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique, and the data collection technique was carried out through observation and questionnaires containing positive and negative statements. The data analysis technique used in this study was calculating the percentage of data from each indicator, then interpreting the percentage score of each indicator in depth. The results of this study indicate that the learning motivation of class XI-MIA 3 students of Al Ma'shum Kisaran High School is in the sufficient category, this is obtained from the percentage score of the motivation with an average value of 2.79%. This study is expected to be an evaluation of various parties in implementing the online learning system. This study is also expected to be a study material for other researchers in analyzing student learning motivation in online learning, especially trigonometry material.

Abstract

Abstrak Pembelajaran geometri memerlukan bahan ajar yang sesuai dengan tahap perkembangan kognitif. Materi geometri belum dikaitkan dengan budaya lokal, sehingga pemahaman konsep peserta didik belum optimal. Salah satu yang dilakukan dengan mengembangkan LKPD berbasis etnomatematika mengikuti tahapan berpikir geometri menurut teori Van Hiele, agar pembelajaran mudah dipahami. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan LKPD geometri sekolah dasar berbasis etnomatematika Padaw Tuju Dulung berdasarkan teori belajar Van Hiele. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development dengan model pengembangan 4D. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui lembar validasi ahli dan angket respon peserta didik, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif yang didukung oleh data kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LKPD yang dikembangkan memperoleh kriteria sangat layak dengan penilaian ahli materi 88,46% dan ahli media 90,21%. Respon peserta didik menunjukkan tingkat kemenarikan 86,36% sangat menarik. LKPD yang dihasilkan memuat unsur budaya Padaw Tuju Dulung dan disusun sesuai tahapan berpikir geometri Van Hiele, sehingga layak digunakan dalam pembelajaran geometri di sekolah dasar. Abstract: Geometry learning requires teaching materials that are appropriate for the stage of cognitive development. The geometry material has not yet been linked to local culture, resulting in suboptimal understanding of concepts among students. One of the approaches taken is to develop ethnomathematics-based Student Worksheets (LKPD) following the stages of geometric thinking according to Van Hiele's theory, so that the learning is easy to understand. This research aims to develop elementary school geometry LKPD based on Padaw Tuju Dulung ethnomathematics according to Van Hiele's learning theory. The method used is Research and Development with a 4D development model. Research data were obtained thru expert validation sheets and student response questionnaires, then analyzed descriptively qualitatively supported by quantitative data. The research results show that the developed LKPD meets the very feasible criteria with a material expert assessment of 88.46% and a media expert assessment of 90.21%. Student responses indicate a very interesting level of 86.36%. The developed LKPD contains elements of Padaw Tuju Dulung culture and is structured according to the Van Hiele geometric thinking stages, making it suitable for use in geometry learning in elementary schools

Abstract

This study aimed at determining: the analysis of student’ mathematical problem solving ability in the arithmetic sequence material at class Xl of Al Ma’shum sidodadi. This research used descriptive qualitative research type. The subjects of this study were 30 students of class MIA 2 Al Ma’shum Sidodadi Kisaran, who were selected from each study using a purposive sample. Data collections instruments used included test questions in the form of 2 questions that refered to indicator of students’ problem solving ability including understanding problems, planning solutions, implementing plans, and reinterpresting them. The data analysis technique used in this study was to asses the results of student of student answers and determine the percentage of students problem solving abilities viewed from the high, medium, and low categories. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the ability to solve problems at a high level are 16 students as much as 53.3%, the ability to solve problem at a moderate level are 3 student as much as 10 %, the ability to solve problems at a low level are 11 students as mucg as 36.7%.
