Abstract

Out-of-court divorce is a practice still often found in Indonesia, despite being contrary to positive laws, such as Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage and the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI). This study aims to analyze the legal implications of talaq outside the court from the perspective of the Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of North Sumatra. With a normative juridical approach, this study explores the legal provisions of talaq in Islamic law, the relevance of fatwa to laws and regulations, and its impact on legal certainty and the protection of the rights of wives and children. Data was obtained through document studies of MUI fatwas, regulations, Islamic legal literature, and related academic studies. The results of the study show that the fatwa of the North Sumatra MUI recognizes the validity of talaq outside the court from a religious perspective, provided it meets the requirements of Sharia, but still recommends reporting it to the religious court to ensure legal certainty. This fatwa educates the public not to impose talaq carelessly and ensures the rights of the parties involved, such as alimony, custody, and the distribution of common property. The legal and social implications of this fatwa reveal a fundamental distinction between Islamic law and positive law, which can impact the protection of family rights. By applying the theory of maqashid shari'ah, this study concludes that the MUI fatwa aims to harmonize Islamic shari'ah values with state law in order to achieve the benefits of society.

Abstract

This study explores the implementation of Islamic parenting in fostering resilience among orphans at Al-Jam'iyatul Washliyah Orphanage in Medan. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach was utilized to obtain an in-depth understanding of the phenomenon. Participants consisted of caregivers, foster children, and orphanage staff members who were directly involved in caregiving activities. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and documentation, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Islamic parenting characterized by role modeling (al-uswah), habituation of worship (al-‘adah), provision of advice (al-mau’izhah), attentiveness (al-mulahazhoh), and non-violent discipline (al-‘uqbah), contributed significantly to enhancing the orphans’ resilience across psychological, social, and academic domains. These methods supported the development of emotional regulation, self-discipline, empathy, social connectedness, and spiritual awareness. Caregivers functioned not only as educators but also as surrogate parents who provided moral direction, emotional security, and consistent routines. The study concludes that Islamic parenting practices hold potential as a strategic framework for strengthening resilience in institutional care settings. Their adoption in other orphanages or childcare institutions may offer valuable benefits in promoting the psychological well-being and holistic development of children affected by loss, abandonment, or economic hardship.

Abstract

The increasingly rampant phenomenon of online gambling in the digital space is a serious challenge to fostering community morals, especially among the younger generation. This study aims to examine the competence of Islamic religious instructors in addressing this issue through the use of digital technology, with a focus on Tanjung Tiram District, Batu Bara Regency. Using a qualitative approach with in-depth interview techniques and analyzed using NVivo software, this study explores the ability of instructors to utilize social media, compile educational content, and build effective da'wah communication in the digital space. The results of the study show that instructors such as Edi Yanto and Kamelia Sambas already possess basic digital competencies that support the effectiveness of da'wah, including the use of Facebook to convey religious messages and warnings about the dangers of online gambling. However, technical limitations, such as mastering visual design and video editing, remain significant obstacles. This study concludes that synergy between religious competence and digital skills is essential for counseling to operate effectively in a digital context and reach digitally active levels of society. These findings provide a basis for developing digital training for religious instructors as part of a da'wah-based social prevention strategy.

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) To find out the communication synergy carried out by the Communication and Consultation Forum for Islamic Spiritual Guidance (Fokkus Babinrohis) in conveying religious values to the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) within the North Sumatra Provincial Government; (2) To find out the contribution of Fokkus Babinrohis programs and activities in instilling Islamic religious values in ASN behavior; and (3) To find out the challenges faced by Fokkus Babinrohis in building effective communication in religious guidance to ASN. This research used a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation of eleven informants who were directly involved in the forum and policy makers. The results showed that the communication synergy built by Fokkus Babinrohis runs strategically, participatively, and touches the spiritual aspects of ASN through a two-way communication approach and vertical coordination across agencies. Religious programs such as routine recitation, Islamic ethics training, and dakwah safaris make a real contribution to improving ASN morale, discipline, and integrity. However, there are a number of challenges faced, including internal management conflicts, limited facilities and budgets, low ASN participation, and the non-optimal role of rohis units in agencies. For this reason, institutional evaluation, management restructuring, and a more contextual and comprehensive coaching approach are needed to effectively internalize religious values in the bureaucratic environment.

Abstract

Final-year students often face intense academic demands such as thesis writing, final projects, and the pressure to graduate on time. Not all students can effectively cope with these challenges. Academic resilience becomes essential as it reflects a student’s ability to stay strong, focused, and adaptive in difficult academic situations. Resilient students generally demonstrate better emotional control, problem-solving abilities, and strong motivation to succeed. One of the external factors that significantly supports academic resilience is social support. Encouragement and care from family, peers, and lecturers can foster a sense of security, reduce academic stress, increase motivation, and maintain students’ enthusiasm for learning. This study investigates the relationship between social support and academic resilience, specifically targeting final-year students dealing with academic pressure. The research applied a quantitative correlational approach. A purposive sampling method was used to select 117 final-year students from public and private universities in Medan. Data were collected using an online questionnaire via Google Forms. Two validated instruments were used: a social support scale adapted by Fida and an academic resilience scale adapted by Setioko. Data analysis employed the Pearson product- moment correlation test using SPSS version 25. The analysis revealed a correlation coefficient of 0.493 with a p-value of 0.000, indicating a significant positive relationship between social support and academic resilience. This suggests that students who receive greater social support tend to have higher levels of resilience in facing academic challenges. The findings emphasize the importance of a strong support system in helping students manage academic stress and succeed in their final academic stages.

This study aims to analyze the psychological disorders experienced by converts (mualaf) at Yayasan Pembinaan Mualaf Al Muhajirin, the therapeutic communication employed by Dai in alleviating these disorders, and the implementation of therapeutic communication by Dai in reducing psychological distress among converts at Yayasan Pembinaan Mualaf Al Muhajirin. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with Dai and converts, field observations, and documentation. Informants were purposively selected from among the Dai of the foundation and the guided converts who had undergone the mentoring process. The results of the study indicate that converts at Yayasan Pembinaan Mualaf Al Muhajirin experience psychological disorders such as severe stress, social anxiety, overthinking, feelings of guilt, and inner conflict due to family rejection and identity crises. Therapeutic communication by the Dai is carried out through an empathetic approach, active listening, trust-building, and spiritual empowerment. The forms of communication used include both verbal and nonverbal communication, with strong religious and emotional content. The implementation of this communication has proven effective in gradually alleviating psychological symptoms, although several obstacles such as time constraints and limited abilities of the Dai remain challenges. The conclusion of this study shows that the therapeutic communication by Dai is effective in helping the psychological recovery process of converts, provided there is consistency, empathy, and depth in interpersonal relationships.

Abstract

This study examines the role of digital communication in the image rebranding process of PT. Angkasa Pura Indonesia, using a social and religious perspective. With the development of information technology and changing public expectations, companies are required to transform their identities through adaptive and valuable communication strategies. Digital communication has become a primary means of rebuilding a company's image by delivering messages that are more inclusive, interactive, and nuanced with social and religious values. In this context, digital media such as official websites, social media, and other digital platforms are used to instill the values of humanistic, transparent public service, reflecting local wisdom and a spirit of interfaith tolerance. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analytical methods, focusing on how digital communication messages are structured and delivered by the company within the framework of its rebranding. The analysis shows that digital communication serves not only as a visual promotional tool but also as a dialogue space that enables the formation of new, positive perceptions of the company, particularly regarding social responsibility, service ethics, and respect for the cultural and religious diversity of airport users. Thus, rebranding through digital communication is a strategy that is not only aesthetic but also ethical and humanistic, in line with the socio-religious values prevailing in Indonesian society.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the role of internalization of religious values on the formation of employee work ethic at PT Bakrie Sumatera Utara Plantation Tbk. With a qualitative approach and phenomenological method, this research deeply explores the subjective experiences of employees through interviews, observations, and documentation of religious activities. The main focus is how Islamic values internalized through programs such as routine recitation, congregational prayers, and spiritual lectures shape Islamic work attitudes and behaviors. The results show that the process of internalizing religious values is carried out gradually and consistently, both through formal and informal approaches, and has the support of management and internal company religious leaders. The main findings show that values such as discipline, responsibility, honesty, and the spirit of togetherness began to materialize in employee work behavior. The work environment that previously tended to be individualistic has become more harmonious, collaborative, and worship-oriented. Thus, the internalization of religious values is proven to make a significant contribution in improving a productive and integrative Islamic work ethic. This study recommends that companies continue to strengthen religious programs and expand spiritual approaches into the sharia-based human resource management system.
