Abstract

Exclusive breast milk is breast milk given to infants from birth for 6 months, without adding from/or replacing other foods and drinks (except medicine, vitamins, and minerals). Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy is the biggest factor that can influence the process of breastfeeding and the success of exclusive breastfeeding. One of the solutions that can help improve breastfeeding self-efficacy is to apply Hypnobreastfeeding. The type of research is quantitative with a pre-experimental research design in the form of a one-group pretest and posttest design, which assesses the effect of Hypnobreastfeeding on Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy on postpartum mothers in the postpartum room of RSUD Kudungga. The sampling technique was taken using consecutive sampling of 23 people. Based on the results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon test, a p value of 0.000 was obtained. Thus p = 0.000 is smaller than the error rate used at the α = 0.05 level. Mothers who breastfeed When they have the belief that their milk is lacking and not enough for the baby, then this belief will be embedded in the subconscious, and the mother will experience what she believes. Hypnobreastfeeding can neutralize these negative recordings for reprogramming by incorporating a positive intention or attitude towards self-confidence to be able to provide breast milk to their babies and believe that milk production is sufficient according to the needs of the baby. It can be concluded that Hypnobreastfeeding does affect the breastfeeding self-efficacy for postpartum mothers in the postpartum room at RSUD Kudungga.

Abstract

Low birth weight (LBW) infants are a serious health issue in Indonesia. LBW is associated with high mortality rates, chronic diseases risks, and growth and developmental disorders in children. This study aims to provide an overview of LBW occurrence at Sepaso Health Center. This research employed a descriptive research design. According to Sumadi (2016), descriptive research aims to provide a description of a situation or event. A case study approach was used in this research design, where information was collected to understand a specific event or problem. The population of this study consisted of individuals with authority regarding the influence of LBW infants at Sepaso Health Center. Purposive sampling technique was utilized for sample selection. Based on the research conducted on 30 mothers with low birth weight (LBW) infants, the findings revealed that 60% of the mothers were at risk due to being below 20 years or above 35 years old, while 40% of the mothers were not at risk with ages between 20-35 years. Parity showed that 30% were nulliparous and 70% were multiparous. Maternal occupation indicated that 40% were employed and 60% were unemployed. Antenatal care (ANC) distribution showed that 40% had frequent ANC visits, while 60% had inadequate ANC visits. Maternal food consumption during pregnancy showed that 27% had good consumption, 67% had sufficient consumption, and 6% had inadequate consumption. These findings can serve as a basis for enhancing attention and care for low birth weight infants at the Sepaso Health Center. It is expected that this study can contribute to the efforts in improving the health of low birth weight infants in the region.

Abstract

Tetanus toxoid immunization in third trimester pregnant women is very important to prevent the risk of tetanus infection in newborns. Most cases of neonatal death in developing countries are due to tetanus, and neonatal tetanus is the second leading cause of death worldwide in diseases that can be prevented through vaccination. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the completeness of Tetanus Toxoid immunization in third trimester pregnant women. This study employed an analytical cross-sectional observational design on pregnant women in the third trimester (n=47) at Puskesmas Karangan in 2023. A total sampling method was used, resulting in a sample of 47 infants. Data collection instruments included questionnaires (primary data) and the PWS KIA book (secondary data). The variables examined were immunization completeness (dependent variable) and knowledge, attitude, and spousal support (independent variables). Data were analyzed using the Chi Square test. The results of univariate analysis showed that the majority of respondents with incomplete TT immunization were 24 (51.1%). The results of the bivariate analysis found a relationship between knowledge and P Value (0.004), mother's attitude P Value (0.025) and husband's support P Value (0.029) with the completeness of Tetanus Toxoid immunization in third trimester pregnant women with a value of α = 0.05. The study highlights the strong influence of maternal knowledge on the completeness of Tetanus Toxoid immunization in pregnant women in the third trimester (P-value=0.004), which is more significant compared to maternal attitude and spousal support. Enhancing maternal knowledge regarding TT immunization is crucial in improving immunization coverage and reducing the risk of tetanus infection in newborns.

Abstract

Currently the incidence of short toddlers or called stunting is one of the nutritional problems experienced by toddlers in the world. One of the causes of the stunting problem is the delay in Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) and non-exclusive breastfeeding. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends breastfeeding for at least 6 months. Breast milk is a nutritional intake that fits the needs that help the growth and development of children. Children who do not get enough breast milk mean they have poor nutritional intake and can cause malnutrition, one of which can cause the risk of stunting. The method of this study is observational analytic with a retrospective approach. The number of samples in this study were 72 toddlers. The instrument used to obtain secondary data in this study was the MCH handbook, and the instrument used to obtain primary data in this study was research observation sheets. The data were analyzed using the Fisher Exact test. The results showed that out of 72 toddlers, 36 toddlers experienced stunting, 37 of them were not given exclusive breastfeeding and 35 of them were given exclusive breastfeeding. Bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between a history of exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting (P Value 0,000). There is a relationship between a history of exclusive breastfeeding and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 24-60 months in the working area of the Telen Health Center.

Abstract

Nutrition is crucial for supporting the growth and development of toddlers. The government program aimed at preventing undernutrition is the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP). The nutritional status can be determined through laboratory tests and anthropometric measurements. The rapid developmental stage of children aged 1-5 years makes them vulnerable to undernutrition if not supported by balanced nutrition. The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between maternal attitudes, socio-cultural factors, and the occurrence of undernutrition in toddlers (12-59 months) in the village of Karangan Seberang. This research employed a descriptive correlational survey design with a cross-sectional approach. The total population of toddlers aged 12-59 months was 100 individuals, with a sample size of 86. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. The univariate analysis revealed that 31 (36%) respondents experienced undernutrition, while 55 (64.0%) respondents did not. The bivariate analysis using the chi-square test showed a p-value of 0.000 < α value of 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between maternal attitudes, parental education, economic factors, and parental knowledge with undernutrition in toddlers (12-59 months) in the village of Karangan Seberang. There is a significant relationship between maternal attitudes, parental education, economic factors, and parental knowledge with undernutrition in toddlers (12-59 months) in the village of Karangan Seberang. Close collaboration among the government, healthcare institutions, education sector, and the community is needed to address the issue of undernutrition in children. Effective coordination and synergy between these sectors can help enhance awareness, knowledge, and effective actions in combating undernutrition.
