Abstract

Preeclampsia is one of the major pregnancy complications contributing to maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Impaired uteroplacental perfusion in preeclampsia may lead to adverse neonatal outcomes, including asphyxia, prematurity, low birth weight (LBW), and intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR). To analyze the impact of preeclampsia in laboring mothers on neonatal outcomes. The research method used was descriptive research with an observational approach to examine the characteristics of patients with hypertension in labour at Dr. Wahidin Sudiro Husodo Regional General Hospital, Mojokerto City, in 2025-2026 This study employed a retrospective descriptive-analytic design. A total of 53 mothers with preeclampsia who met the inclusion criteria were included in the study. Data were collected from medical records and analyzed using univariate analysis to describe respondents' characteristics and Chi-square tests to determine the relationship between maternal age, parity, gestational age, and neonatal outcomes. Most mothers were aged 20–35 years (83.1%), multiparous (51%), delivered at term (85%), and underwent cesarean section (77.4%). Normal neonatal outcomes were found in 26 infants (49.1%), followed by asphyxia in 21 infants (39.6%), prematurity in 8 infants (15.1%), low birth weight in 4 infants (7.5%), and IUGR in 1 infant (1.9%). Maternal age and gestational age were associated with neonatal outcomes, whereas parity showed no significant association. Preterm infants had a higher risk of adverse neonatal outcomes compared to term infants. Preeclampsia in laboring mothers adversely affects neonatal outcomes, particularly increasing the risk of asphyxia, prematurity, low birth weight, and IUGR. Gestational age was identified as the most influential factor. Early detection and appropriate management of preeclampsia are essential to reduce neonatal complications

Abstract

Generational diversity in nursing practice presents new supervisory challenges in healthcare organizations. Differences in expectations, communication styles, and professional values between Millennial and Generation Z nurses require a more adaptive supervisory approach. This study aimed to explore the perceptions, needs, and relational dynamics of young nurses toward supervisory practices in hospital settings. A qualitative phenomenological design was used with purposive sampling involving 14 nurses from Millennial and Generation Z cohorts. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and analyzed using Collaizi’s method. Five major themes emerged: (1) the meaning of supervision, (2) communication and feedback, (3) responses and adaptive strategies toward supervision, (4) supervisory style and supervisor characteristics, and (5) the impact of supervision on job satisfaction and career development. Generation Z perceived supervision primarily as guidance and quality control, whereas Millennials viewed it as discipline and an indicator of professionalism. Open communication, direct feedback, and democratic leadership were identified as key enablers of work motivation and satisfaction. The findings highlight the need for adaptive intergenerational supervision models that align with contemporary workforce characteristics. This study contributes to the advancement of generation-based nursing supervision theory and provides a foundation for future development of a practical model suited to modern nursing environments.

Abstract

Background: Insufficient breast milk production remains one of the most common challenges encountered by postpartum mothers and contributes to the suboptimal achievement of exclusive breastfeeding. Adequate maternal nutrition is essential for supporting lactation, and honey has attracted increasing attention as a natural complementary nutritional supplement because it contains carbohydrates, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and bioactive compounds that may improve maternal metabolism and stimulate breast milk production. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of honey supplementation on breast milk production among postpartum mothers. Methods: A quasi-experimental study employing a one-group pretest–posttest design was conducted at the Independent Midwifery Practice (TPMB) of Ida Siswi Astuty, West Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia, from November to December 2024. Thirty postpartum mothers were recruited using accidental sampling. Honey supplementation was administered for nine consecutive days. Breast milk production was measured before and after the intervention using breast milk pumping measurements and structured observation sheets. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test because the data were not normally distributed. Results: The mean breast milk production increased from 49.17 ± 18.62 mL before the intervention to 136.83 ± 31.66 mL after honey supplementation, representing an average increase of 87.66 mL. Statistical analysis revealed a significant difference between pre- and post-intervention measurements (Z = −4.792; p < 0.001), indicating that honey supplementation significantly improved breast milk production among postpartum mothers. Conclusion: Honey supplementation significantly increased breast milk production in postpartum mothers. As a natural, affordable, and culturally acceptable nutritional intervention, honey may be incorporated into postpartum care to support successful breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding programs. Further randomized controlled studies with larger sample sizes are recommended to strengthen the current evidence.

Abstract

Menstrual cramps frequently affect the reproductive well-being of young females, routinely triggering psychological distress that disrupts their academic focus, routine functioning, and general wellness. To mitigate these dual challenges of physical distress and psychological tension, the therapeutic attributes of Matricaria chamomilla, which naturally alleviates muscle spasms, reduces inflammation, and induces calmness, offer a viable alternative. This investigation sought to evaluate how the administration of this herbal infusion modifies both the severity of menstrual discomfort and psychological distress experienced by young students at SMA Islam Duduk Sampeyan. By employing a pre-experimental approach centered on evaluating a single cohort before and after exposure, the researchers gathered data from 31 participants chosen via targeted criteria. The evaluation of physical discomfort utilized a segmented numerical scale, whereas psychological tension was quantified through a specific clinician-rated clinical framework. The resulting data underwent statistical evaluation via a non-parametric paired variance procedure, applying a threshold where alpha equals 0.05. Initial observations indicated that a substantial portion of the cohort struggled with intermediate levels of both physical discomfort and psychological distress. Following the dietary introduction of the herbal infusion, a shifting trend emerged, with most participants experiencing either complete relief or minimal discomfort alongside diminished psychological tension. The non-parametric statistical analysis confirmed this shift, indicating that the drop in both physical suffering and psychological strain was highly meaningful, with the probability value falling below 0.001. Consequently, utilizing this herbal infusion serves as a practical, accessible, and risk-free non-medicinal strategy suitable for young females seeking to manage menstrual discomfort.

Abstract

The kindergarten years represent the "golden period" of early childhood, during which children experience rapid growth and development. Child development provides a critical foundation for future health and the quality of human resources. The family serves as the primary environment for a child's growth and development and plays a pivotal role in shaping the child's character. Families are primarily responsible for meeting children's basic needs, including developmental stimulation, care, and affection, all of which directly influence their physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional development. However, many families still lack a comprehensive understanding of their role in providing optimal developmental stimulation, which may result in developmental delays that remain undetected during the early stages. This issue is particularly important in the context of community midwifery and maternal and child health services. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between the family environment and child development at Al Izzah Kindergarten, Mojokerto. A quantitative correlational research design was employed. The intended outputs of this study include an ISBN-registered book and a research article published in a SINTA-indexed journal. The findings showed that the majority of children experienced a positive family environment. Furthermore, the results of the Pre-Screening Questionnaire for Child Development (KPSP) indicated that almost all children demonstrated age-appropriate development. Data were analyzed using Fisher's Exact test. The statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between the family environment and child development (p = 0.001, p < 0.05). The study concludes that the family environment plays a significant role in supporting child development at Al Izzah Kindergarten, Mojokerto. Therefore, families should provide age-appropriate developmental stimulation to promote optimal child development.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major public health challenge affecting children's physical growth, cognitive development, and future productivity. Family involvement and community support are essential for effective prevention during the first 1,000 days of life. This study explored family experiences in preventing stunting among children under two years of age from a community nursing perspective in Jeneponto Regency, Indonesia. A qualitative descriptive phenomenological design was employed involving 14 purposively selected participants, including 10 mothers, two community nurses, and two Posyandu health volunteers. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews, field observations, and field notes, then analyzed using thematic analysis. Four themes emerged: family knowledge of stunting, family prevention practices, barriers to prevention, and community nursing support. Families practiced exclusive breastfeeding, nutritious complementary feeding, routine growth monitoring, and healthcare utilization. However, economic constraints, cultural beliefs, feeding difficulties, and limited healthcare access remained significant barriers. Family-centered community nursing interventions integrating education, empowerment, home visits, and multisectoral collaboration can strengthen sustainable stunting prevention among children under two years of age.

Abstract

Background: Peripheral artery disease (PAD) is a common atherosclerotic complication among individuals with metabolic syndrome and is associated with increased cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Although the Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) is widely used as a screening tool, its diagnostic performance is limited when applied as a standalone measure. Therefore, an integrated approach combining vascular, metabolic, and inflammatory indicators is needed to improve the accuracy of early PAD detection. This study aimed to examine the effects of ABI, lipid profile, and inflammatory biomarkers on PAD occurrence and to develop a multi-marker prediction model for individuals with metabolic syndrome. Methods: The quantitative study employed a predictive analytical approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 106 individuals with metabolic syndrome were recruited through purposive sampling from the Dlanggu Community Health Center catchment area, Mojokerto Regency, Indonesia. Data were collected using structured questionnaires, ABI measurements, lipid profile assessments, and inflammatory biomarkers, including the Monocyte-to-HDL Ratio (MHR), Neutrophil-to-HDL Ratio (NHR), C-Reactive Protein (CRP), and the Systemic Inflammatory Response Index (SIRI). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, multivariable logistic regression, and Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve analysis with IBM SPSS Statistics version 29. Results: ABI was significantly associated with PAD occurrence (β = −3.524, p < 0.001). Lipid profile components, including low-density lipoprotein (LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), and triglycerides, as well as the inflammatory biomarkers MHR, NHR, CRP, and SIRI, were also significantly associated with PAD (p < 0.05). The proposed multi-marker prediction model demonstrated excellent predictive performance, with a Nagelkerke R² of 0.631 and an area under the ROC curve (AUC) of 0.891. Conclusions: A multi-marker prediction model integrating ABI, lipid profile parameters, and inflammatory biomarkers effectively predicts PAD among individuals with metabolic syndrome. These findings support a multidimensional approach to vascular risk stratification and suggest that this model has the potential to enhance early screening, facilitate timely clinical decision-making, and optimize preventive strategies in high-risk populations.
